Palms Architecture & Integration Methodologyanil.y
PALMS is a web service-based SOA architecture that allows configurations for actions to be performed before and after calls to business components. It supports incoming interfaces through a daemon or web service calls, as well as outgoing interfaces. For incoming interfaces through the daemon, a protocol converter runs on the daemon and passes data to a business component. For web service incoming calls, the protocol conversion occurs on the caller side. Outgoing interfaces can be configured to run protocol converters and communicators after a business component to integrate with external systems like PLC devices.
This document summarizes the authors' experience with Sitecore Experience Commerce (XC) 9 over the past year, highlighting key developments, challenges, and successes. Some of the major topics covered include the new plugin architecture, installation difficulties, performance optimizations for catalogs and development, and the potential of XC9's microservices-based approach. While documentation and Commerce Connect integration presented challenges initially, the extensible plugin model and scalable architecture were seen as major advantages that could make XC9's future successful.
- Modern APM solutions must be able to adapt automatically to support fast-changing IT applications with multiple technologies.
- APM solutions need to provide both a wide overview for operations teams and deep insights for developers to troubleshoot problems.
- Alerts from APM solutions should be actionable by pinpointing the right issues without false alarms, and the solution must be able to monitor applications effectively in production and test environments.
