DRESS ATTIRE MEMO
TO: All Part-Time employees
FROM: Cortland Klinefelter, Office Manager
DATE: February 10, 2015
SUBJECT: Work Appropriate Attire
Attention to all current part-time employees, my reason for this memo is just a simple
reminder that here at the office we would like to convey a professional atmosphere and
positive image to all potential clients of the organization and there have been some
instances of inappropriate work attire brought to my attention. Remember that the way
that you dress conveys how people will view our company. These instances of
inappropriate work attire in the office have conveyed a negative image of our
organization and we are looking forward to fixing that situation.
Summary
Though it has been deemed acceptable for part-time employees to express their fashion
sense, several employees have started wearing shorts that concern the director and the
organization. The cut of the shorts many of our employees are wearing are so high that
the pockets are often visible below the hem, and several clients have commented on the
tightness of the shorts. While we want our employees to have the freedom to wear work
attire at their own discretion it should be noted that the aforementioned clothing must fall
within dress code standards or executive action will be taken.
Outline of Proper Clothing: All employees work attire must fall within the following
work attire guidelines.
 Men (Acceptable) – Slacks, Pants, Collared Shirts, Polo’s, Buttoned Shirts,
Sweaters, Turtlenecks
 Men (Unacceptable)- Jeans, Sweatpants, Shorts, Spandex, and other forms of
recreational gear, Tee-shirts, Tank Tops, Shirts with offensive writing on them
 Women (Acceptable) - Casual Dresses, Skirts (With an Appropriate Hemline),
Pant-Suits, and Sleeveless Dresses are allowed as long as they cover the
shoulders.
 Women (Unacceptable) - Mini-Skirts, Spaghetti Strap Dresses, and any other item
that may be deemed inappropriate to peers.
 Any Further questions on proper attire can be directed to the nearest manager or
HR department.
Repercussions: As incentive to follow these proper attire guidelines, employees that
adhere to the dress codes for the month will be given one extra vacation day or sick day.
Those who continue to violate the dress codes will be at risk for various outcomes
1. Being asked to leave the office till they return with proper dress attire
2. Being put on a probationary period
3. Termination
Conclusion: In conclusion I’d like to thank each and every one of you for working hard
and hopefully this memo will be all that is required. Let’s work together to convey a
