The meeting provided an update on flooding in the region from representatives of various response agencies. A PAG-ASA representative discussed the weather forecast, noting they are in the peak rainy season and experiencing a La Niña advisory that has caused flooding and landslides. Participants discussed the need to have early anticipatory warnings of potential upstream flooding in the Agusan River so that preparations can be made and specific at-risk areas downstream can be warned in advance. BARMM Readi and MOST agreed to collaborate on collecting scientific data to provide anticipatory information and backups to support early warnings.

Discussion: PAG-ASA Representative: We will be having two (2) weather systems
namely the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorm. (as of August
10, 2022 weather forecast)
Lyca Sarenas (MSSD COS): Until when are we going to experience this rainy
season?
PAG-ASA: We are already in peak of rainy season. From the month of August
- November we will be experiencing low pressure area. Collected LPA weather
disturbances caused raining in our area. We are currently experiencing La nina
advisory number 10, and heavy rain is the effect of this.
This has caused flooding and landslides.
Norhassim Sinarimbo (BARMM Readi Focal): We need to have early
anticipatory action pattern because we will soon be affected by the upstream
flooding (in AGUSAN RIVER).
Lyca Sarenas (MSSD COS): We need to be warned ahead of time so that
everyone will be prepared and to what necessary precautions are we going to
take before the flooding happens in the area.
Aside from the advisory or weather forecast of PAG-ASA, where can we get
another information as to what specific areas downstream will be affected so
we can be able to warn the people ahead of time.
Shem: We need to have scientific data about that. That will serve as an
anticipatory info to everyone.
