Psychological thrillers typically have 18+ age ratings due to disturbing or violent content in the films. The target audience of this particular film is older males and females, though some younger adults and teenagers may also be interested. Research found that over half the audience for similar films was age 50+, with the next largest groups being ages 15-24 and 25-34. The film aims to keep its audience puzzled through mysterious objects, modern costumes, natural lighting in city scenes, and a simple, slow soundtrack for the title sequence that does not build suspense but conveys the psychological nature of the thriller.
AS Media level. This is a PPT of my pitch representing the idea for my production, how it will meet opening sequence and thriller conventions, how it will be marketed and also what research I have previously done that has influenced my production.

2. • The target audience of many psychological
thrillers are 18+ This is because they include a
lot of violence and some psychological issues
which can be disturbing for many younger
viewers There are usually warnings on the
back of the DVD cover which states why it is
rated as it is e.g. contains extreme violence or
sexual scenes
3. • Our target audience is for males and females directed
at a older more mature audience but can still appeal to
a small percentage of younger adults and teenagers.
Our decision was made from researching the target
audience of the thrillers we are basing our title
sequence on
4. We researched our film and our audience on pearl and dean this is
what we found that 22% of the audience were 15-24 year olds, 15%
of the audience were 25-34 year olds, only 9% were 35-44 and the
main audience was 54% which were 50+
6. The mise en scene of our film is mysterious objects and
signs our film is based on envy and obsession with a
certain thing the costumes in our film will be very modern
because it is set in modern day and in a city so the clothes
are very normal. The lighting that we are going to use will
be quite dull and dark for some parts of the film but the
majority of the film will be under natural light because it is
set in the city and we are trying to make it as real as life as
possible. We are trying to make the film and shooting very
clever so it keeps the audience puzzled and keeps and
enigma. Our soundtrack for the titles will be very simple
slow and dull not to build suspense but to show that are
film is not about action its about keeping the audience
guessing a physcological thriller.
