4. COLOUR PALETTE
NUDE AND EARTH TONES
ANNOTATIONS
Overall we want to keep a simple and minimalist look to our artists cover
art and branding. We want to incorporate our specific colour pallete of
nudes and earthy tones into our shots.
We want to have a minimal and slightly feminine feel to our images through
lighting and costuming this will allow very simple and very Jorja Smith
vibes to come through from our research from artists such as Solange,
Beyoncé, Billie Holiday and Amy Winehouse. All of these artists have and un
trying air in which comes naturally. Style and personality is natural and
unforced. We want a natural however, whimsical sort of style for our shots.
Therefore, we want a model in which has a tan complexion that will mix
well with earthy tones. This will allow for balance through out the image
and will not wash her out under the harsh studio lighting.
We also want to look at texture of clothing this is very important as the
texture of the clothing will add depth to the piece. The texture of the
clothing will help create form within our models poses.
Poses will be very important in our shots as the body and its form will
create shape and interest. The photos above show some dynamic poses in
which we want to incorporate. Even obscure angles will help add a
whimsical feel to the images. This will allow lights to hit high points of the
face and the body and create interesting highlights that will bring the model
forward and out of the images. This will help with the overall glossy look
we are going for along with the look of professionalism. The use of lighting
will help bring a natural ‘cover girl’ feel to the photos rather then an over
edited and fake look.
I believe when combining these elements it will allow for an interesting and
natural look to the images. This will help build the star power and overall
look of Jorja Smith and her music.
