As an audience we identify film genres by the paradigms. For example a
paradigm for an action adventure film would include a car chase, fighting,
big set piece and explosions ect.
Types of genre - The theme of the film is action adventure so therefore the
issues and ideas dealt with would be a hero fighting villains. As an audience
we can then identify this film’s genre from the conventions discussed.
An action adventure film will also give off excitement because of the tense the
fighting and car chasing.
The genre of
Romance
The note book is film with a romantic genre.
Romantic films are usually targeted to a female
audience because woman are more emotional in a
relationship compared to men. We identify the
romance from wedding bells, hearts and flowers
which symbolises love.
A romantic genre would include a sexuality, status,
gender and relationships. Emotions are also
included with a romantic genre for example
heroines, hero’s dad left or mum dies ect.
A typical romantic film would start by boy meets
girl scenario, they then fall in love then have
argument and split up then get back together, there
is always a happy ending.
