Question 1
In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of real
media products?
Our title sequence is a psychological thriller
based on the detective (Leon Kosova) having
another personality which is the murderer (Jad
Murad). When creating the title sequence we
have taken into account the code and
conventions of the psychological thriller film to
appeal to the target audience.
Codes and Conventions:
Psychological thrillers
The characters ethos is the main characters
always facing a dilemma from other characters
Simple antagonist versus protagonists plots
Ordinary people in an unordinary situation
To puzzle and keep a mystery going
Good versus Evil
Themes
Identity – the characters in this type of film, are usually in
doubt about who they are and what they are meant to do. This
theme is one of the mains ones in the ‘Chasing My Reflection’
because the protagonist is trying to understand who he is and
who the antagonist.
Reality – the characters are usually trying to differentiate
between what is real and not real. This links to the ‘Chasing
My Reflection’ title sequence because the protagonist is
constantly trying to understand what is real or not.

Mind – the characters are often mentally assessed throughout
the film, the movie reveals the characters emotional state and
the previous problems that are always in their sub-conscious
mind. This links to ‘Chasing My Reflection’ because the subconscious mind of the protagonist is what causes the
antagonist to come alive.
