What is the principal task of the learning
institution –centre, college, organisation?
1
 The principal task of the learning institution,
that is a organisation is to equip an individual
with skills and competencies that is needed
to be able to function properly and to be
able keep up with this world which is in
constant move.
 When an individual has skills and knowledge
s/he has a high self confidence.
 For example in a workplace, an organisation
which invest in their staff training is likely to
excel.
2
 Because its
employees have self
confidence as they
are able to perform
given task with ease.
 Also they are able to
solve problems, think
critically, are creative
,innovative and
adaptive to work
challenges.
Institution should offer
education and training
that meet the interest
and needs of an
individual.
Institution should help
people develop self
confidence and to be
able to deal with life
changes and
challenges.
3
 A learning institution role is to give an
individual an education that will contributes
to his/her moral development and character
formation.
 Should also provide intellectual, moral
training and life management skills.
 Education helps to produce motivated and
responsible citizens who relate positively to
each other and communities.
 It also creates active and responsible society.
4
 Is it an individual, family or society?
 I think its everyone responsibility to ensure
that an individual get a necessary education
and training.
 The importance of education and training in
an individual is not only for attainment of
qualifications, it is also for personal
development and successful integration into
the society through the sharing of common
values, the passing on of cultural heritage
and the teaching of self – reliance.
5
 In real sense, education includes an
individual, family , society, the environment
and the prevailing traditions(DeweyJ.pg2).
 Learning happens also beyond classroom
environments, it also happens in families and
communities
 Family and society should take the lead in
ensuring that a child get an initial formal,
informal education as it is important in the
laying of foundations for an individual
continuous learning.
6
 An adults/individual should take the lead in
their learning as they know what they want in
life, and the family and society should be
supportive
