This document provides grading criteria and tips for drawing a meal scene that includes a beverage, plate with at least three food items, dessert or junk food, silverware, and a placemat or table texture. Students should consider the viewing angle, size proportions of objects, values, textures, and using pencil with colored pencils to draw the food scene.

• Drawing must include:
– Beverage
– Plate with at least three items on it that you
would eat together
– Dessert or other junk food
– Silverware (or other eating utensil)
– Placemat or table/surface texture

• Angle at which viewer will see your food
• Size and proportion (what size is each object
relative to the next?)
• Value
• Texture
• Color (start with pencil, use colored pencils to
complete)
