EYEDEX - Early Years Education Exhibition 2016Sharmin Patel
Have you ever come across a colleague or friend asking you THE QUESTION, “Do You Know of a GOOD NURSERY?” I’m sure, your answer probably will be based on the nursery name and/or information shared by your friends whose kids are in a particular nursery.
The BIG QUESTION….Is the same nursery where our friends’ or families’ kids are going ideal for all children???
The Answer is “NO!”
EYEDEX was founded in 2013. To bring together various nurseries and parents onto one common platform, share information and knowledge and most importantly for parents to be able to judge from their own experiences and interaction with various nursery teachers and caretakers as to which nursery would prove an ideal ambience for their children to thrive and grow up to be confident individuals.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

•How does MBS (Marina Bay Sands) serves as
a model to the Principles of good Governance
deployed to help Singapore sustain its growth
in the 21st century?
- 4 Principles of governance
3. Promote tourism
Attract more tourists through the casino
Bring in more investors to Singapore for investment hence
boost the economy in Singapore
Promote foreign investments
Bring prosperity in Singapore
Raise the international image of Singapore hence Singapore
will be more well-known around the world
Bring in profit
Establish and promote the economic in Singapore
4. Brands that are considered global brands in MBS:
Chanel, Gucci, Tiffany and CO and Louis Vuiton
Local Singapore’s Brands:
Singtel Exclusive Retailer, Gold Heart, Robinson and Charles and
Keith
5. From slides 3 and 4,
Singapore’s leaders do what is right rather than what is popular
to the country. Honest and capable leaders make the right
decisions for the country. These potential leaders are specially
selected and groomed. Besides their talent and ability, they are
also selected based on their good character.
In order to boost Singapore’s economy, our leaders have
decided to build the MBS which is the Marina Bay Sands. Today,
the MBS have attracted a lot of tourists to come to Singapore.
MBS has a casino, hotels, skypark, museums, restaurants and
shopping malls. It shows that the government plans and do the
right things that benefit Singapore and not what is popular
among the people. Hence, gaining the support of the people and
the whole country can move on as one and progress together
and bringing success. Hence help Singapore to sustain its growth
in the 21st century.
6. MBS has a breeze shelter which is a cooling and breezy
‘pause point’. These three shelters are made of glass
and stainless steel with large fans on the middle. The
fans are activated by motion sensors and will stop
moving when the sensors do not detect any
movements under it, The breeze shelters are solar
powered. Hence it uses it converts the light energy to
move the fan.
Hence,
saving
electricity.
7. Using compressed natural gas for cars
Conserved Land:
By building underground mall which is making good use of
every space
8. It is a 22-meter diameter acrylic bowl set on a 90-
ton steel structure that releases more than
22,000 liters of water per minute, from two storey
above.
9. The decisions made by the government have to be forward-
looking. The government have to make decisions in anticipation
of future challenges.
As Singapore the population in Singapore is gradually increasing,
our resources are also gradually decreasing. Furthermore this
resources are limited and they may ran out one day. The
Singapore’s government saw the problem and try to save our
resources for the future generation by being eco-friendly. The
government make use of every little space like building
underground shopping malls. Also by using solar panels to
generate the fan thus saving electricity. The government is also
open to new ideas and be willing to take risks. They are coming
up with innovative and creative ideas to help sustain the
country’s growth and development.
10. Relax or do some sports in Marina, you have a choice of golfing, ice
skating or diving. Despite of its size, Marina Bay has a number of
world class golf courses. The Marina Bay Golf Course is the only
18-hole international class public course in Singapore. Singapore is
also a paradise for swimmers of all ages. You can do some rounds
at any of the pools in the city or just simply plunge in the pool at
your Marina Hotel.
The world’s first Night Formula One is held in Marina, making this
bustling area of Singapore a top destination for all F1 fans.
The Marina Sands is Singapore’s first gambling complex. This 50
storey building features a casino, shopping and entertainment mall,
art museum and an excellent terrace restaurant for locals and
tourists alike.

12. The Singapore government build MBS so that investors will
come to Singapore to set up their own companies and more.
This creates jobs for everyone in Singapore. For example by
building the casino, people can be employed. However,
people are also worried that there will be a negative impact
by building the casino. Thus, the government are willing to
hear the thoughts and listen to their opinions. For example,
the government will be imposing stringent social safeguards
and monitor the people. By building facilitates, the people
can enjoy and relax themselves. They will not be very
stressful. It shows that the government is concern and
shows care to the people in Singapore.
