Cardiovascular disease remains the world's leading cause of death, responsible for 17.5 million deaths globally each year. While efforts have successfully reduced mortality from CVD, it poses a huge economic burden of 210 billion euros per year in Europe. The Cardiac Society of Mauritius and the European Society of Cardiology share the goals of reducing the CVD burden through advocating quality care, disseminating knowledge, and building communities of specialists. They collaborate through membership, education initiatives like joint congresses, and developing the next generation of cardiologists. Strong worldwide collaboration is needed to advance cardiovascular science and help people live longer, healthier lives.
