Editor's Notes
Jewish not listed on map, many came to New Amsterdam after the Spanish Inquisition (New York). Many who came in 17th century joined them in New York, and they settled in other British colonial ports such as Newport, Rhode Island, and Charleston, South Carolina.
By 1770 there were more Universities and Colleges in colonial North America vs. England (per capita). The average colonist in the 13 colonies was more educated, had better overall health, paid less taxes, and was more likely to be able to vote compared to their European counterpart.
