This document discusses using satellite data from the Sentinel program for business cases. It notes that satellites should be seen as part of a sensor system providing data, not just as individual parts. Combining different sensor data through fusion can provide more information than any single sensor alone. New business models are emerging around processing and augmenting satellite data to create valuable data products and services. One example project discussed uses Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-1 data to create forestry management products and services through a Finnish consortium. Both opportunities and challenges are noted for using Sentinel data, as the resolution can be coarse for some detailed analysis but data fusion can help overcome limitations.
