Title Sequence Analysis – The Matrix
The first image we see in this film is the Warner Bros. Pictures logo. This has been
modified to suit the film, which in this case is the colour scheme green. This colour is
used because it is an unsettling colour and also because it relates to coding that
happens on a computer, relating to the technological feel to the story. The fact that
the company has chosen to make the Warner Bros. Logo the same colour as the
majority of the film indicates the theme of the film that is being set from the very
start. It then cuts to the Village Roadshow Pictures logo, which again, is green to
keep with the colour scheme of the film. The screen then shows a lot of computer
codes running up and down the screen until the title of the film appears in green
letters. All of this is accompanied by some tense music to create suspense, which
eventually stops as we first hear the actor’s voices. They are having a telephone
conversation whilst we can still see all of the numbers on the screen. After this we
zoom out of the computer code screen until we see the first main character speech.
