Subcategories & defining feature
Each Category is subdivided in to at least three subcategories and each
subcategory has a set of defining features to identify what material it goes
into that category.
1. Metals – Defining Features
• Ferrous

• Prone to rust (Ferrous Oxide)
• Non ferrous
• Other pure metal elements e.g. Copper
• Alloys
• Can be ferrous or nonferrous
• A mixture/combination of elements (not just metal)
