MARSHMALLOW MARKET

Wherever I travel, I
keep an eye out for a gem of a
place. Marshmallow Market
was that gem I discovered
along Maharat Road in old city
of Bangkok which is very near
to Thammasat University.
It was surrounded by the Chao Phraya river on one side and Maharat road on the
other. It was also interlinked with the amulet
markets through narrow lanes which open to a
courtyardlike refreshingly airy and chic designed
buildings and stalls. The crowd here were
madeup of mainly young people and foreign
tourists. The building were cozy, airconed and
very groovy in their decorations and were offering
lots of Thai, foreign and fusion cuisines. A boat
jetty was also conveniently located by its riverside.
The bathrooms were clean and well maintained
but were too small and had just one toilet facility.
So if few persons needed to use the toilet than
there would definitely be a queueup. But it is five
stars compared to many nauseating and stinking public toilets in Bangkok.

MARSHMALLOW MARKET

If you are roaming the old city and needed a
place to relax and cool off with a refreshing river
view, Marshmallow Market is one of the places you
can keep in mind. It is also strategic for mobility as
you can always take a boat to other nearby tourist
attractions including the Chao Phraya river ride. If
you happened to be in Chinatown and needed to go
to Marshmallow Market, you can bargain for a
hundred baht Tuk Tuk ride. If you want to go back to
Pantip pier, it cost a standard 60 baht to the nearest
boat jetty. If you are on the outskirts of Bangkok, it
would be wiser to use the texi service or boat ride to
reach Thammasat. If you ever use the public buses, you might be the unlucky victim for
leg cramps and a slow drive of between two to three hours depending on the traffic jam.
By the time you reach Thammasat you might lose your mood for any adventure. So the
next time you are in Bangkok checkout Marshmallow Market. Happy discovery!
