Mars is approximately half the size of Earth with a mass of 639E21 kg. It has a lower gravity of 3.711 m/s2 and a surface area of 55.91 million square miles. Mars has two small moons called Phobos and Deimos. Despite its smaller size, Mars has the same amount of total land area as Earth and is home to the tallest mountain in the solar system. While only 18 missions to Mars have succeeded, it experiences the largest dust storms in the solar system and fragments have been known to fall to Earth.
