Main requirements
Proposals shall specify a component model for real-time
and embedded systems
Proposals shall follow a component-container-connector
based architecture
Proposals shall specify a middleware-independent
component model
Proposals shall specify a component model, a container
model, an interaction model, a deployment model

Component Model
Proposals shall provide an abstract component
model which is programming language-independent
and middleware-independent.
Proposals shall provide a middleware-independent
MOF-compliant metamodel describing the
component model. This meta-model shall be an
evolution of the Lightweight CCM meta-model.
Proposals shall provide at least an IDL PSM that
maps to the component meta-model previously
mentioned.
Proposals shall provide a simple component
implementation framework (CIF) taking into account
resource-constrained environments.

Container Model
The container model shall define the non functional
support for the components.
The container model shall provide a flexible
execution environment with different threading and
concurrency management policies.
The container model shall provide a “container plug-
in” capability to allow basic container functionality to
be extensible through integration of alternative
configurable plug-in capabilities.

Interaction Model
The GIS (Generic Interaction Model) shall be the only
method for specifying middleware-mediated
component interactions
Each connector definition shall be specified both as a
platform-independent model based on the global
component meta-model and with a platform-specific
IDL definition as an example of the PIM to PSM
mapping
Each connector specification shall address
interoperability of their implementations

Deployment Model
Proposals shall address the interface of a UCM
component implementation framework (CIF) to a
deployment framework that is compliant with the
OMG Deployment and Configuration of Component-
based Distributed Applications (DEPL) specification.
The component deployment framework shall support
the deployment and configuration of components,
containers, container plug-in services as well as
connectors.

Main requirements Proposals shall specify a component model for real-time and embedded systems Proposals shall follow a component-container-connector based architecture Proposals shall specify a middleware-independent component model Proposals shall specify a component model, a container model, an interaction model, a deployment model Copyright © 20133
  • 4. Component Model Proposals shall provide an abstract component model which is programming language-independent and middleware-independent. Proposals shall provide a middleware-independent MOF-compliant metamodel describing the component model. This meta-model shall be an evolution of the Lightweight CCM meta-model. Proposals shall provide at least an IDL PSM that maps to the component meta-model previously mentioned. The container model shall provide a flexible execution environment with different threading and concurrency management policies.
