Marketing dinosaur
1. Don’t be a marketing dinosaur!
Are you really an up-to-date thinker, adapting
to new trends and steering your company’s
marketing into a successful future?
2. Don’t be a marketing dinosaur!
...Are you sure?
When you are out of touch, you are the last to know!
Don’t IGNORE how technology impacts on decision-making and behaviour of
your customers
If you think you’re up to date with social media; you’ve got a digital department,
you have a content strategy, ask yourself this...
...Am I just keeping up with the pack or am
I differentiating my brand?
3. Don’t be a marketing dinosaur!
We’re not talking sci-fi here...
...Most of the things that are happening with technology now were already predicted
and showing back in 1990.
4. Don’t be a marketing dinosaur!
In 1992, I gave a presentation describing how the internet
would...
‘Wrap itself around the user, conforming to their individual needs’
‘Internet based businesses would constantly learn about the user and adapt their
deliver’
'Companies would be able to deliver to individuals, not to masses and they would
have to do this well if they wanted to stay ahead’.
5. Don’t be a marketing dinosaur!
So was I wrong about the internet enabling companies to deliver to
individual needs?
In part 'Yes' and in part 'No'...
For as we know, it’s still sometimes difficult to get good customer service
when things go wrong
Once a sale has been made and the service
delivered, we still don't see much in the way of
individualised service, but...
6. Don’t be a marketing dinosaur!
…if you look at sales and customer acquisition, it's a different story
Before the sale or delivery, changes
are really happening fast.
New services are developing:
-services to improve shopping online
-design of products specific to you,
and services to control the way the
technology in your world works are not
far behind
7. Don’t be a marketing dinosaur!
Most importantly, the delivery of information (in the form of
entertainment and things you need or want to know) is changing
rapidly and the rate of this change is going to increase
8. Don’t be a marketing dinosaur!
Joe Kraus (founder of Excite, an early internet search engine) said:
"The 20th Century was about dozens of markets of millions of
consumers. The 21st Century is about millions of markets of dozens of
consumers." (Thanks to Peter Day, BBC)
Do you understand the needs of your micro-markets?
9. Don’t be a marketing dinosaur!
Is your marketing designed for the 21st
Century? ...
Do you use marketing technology
research insight to deliver to
individuals? ...
If not, you’re going to have to do
something about it fast, aren’t you?
Are a 'Marketing Dinosaur'...?
