2. March 16th marks the birthday of our
remarkable foundress, Sarah A. Reed.
Sarah established our agency back in 1871
and devoted her life to making a difference
for Erie's children and families. In those
days, her mission focused on helping
orphaned and homeless women and
children, along with caring for the elderly.
Affectionately known as "Erie's Grand Old
Lady," Sarah was involved with the
organization for 60 years and served as

Today, Sarah A. Reed Children's Center is celebrating 147 years
of service to the community (and Sarah's 180th birthday!). It's
an honor to still be making a difference in our community, and
we know Sarah would be proud of how much our agency
