1. Mark Twain Essays
Crafting an essay on the works of Mark Twain may initially appear deceptively straightforward,
given the wealth of material available on this iconic American author. However, delving into the
intricacies of Twain's essays demands a nuanced understanding of his unique writing style, wit,
and the socio-cultural context in which he penned his timeless pieces.
Navigating through Twain's extensive body of work requires not only a comprehensive analysis
of his literary contributions but also a keen eye for the underlying themes, humor, and social
commentary that characterize his essays. Unraveling the layers of Twain's prose necessitates a
deep dive into the complexities of his thoughts, navigating through the subtle nuances, and
deciphering the underlying messages embedded within seemingly simple narratives.
Moreover, creating a compelling essay on Mark Twain involves more than just summarizing his
essays; it requires a synthesis of critical analysis and personal interpretation. One must grapple
with the challenge of presenting unique insights while paying homage to the wit and wisdom
that defines Twain's writing. Balancing academic rigor with an engaging narrative style becomes
a delicate task, as one strives to capture the essence of Twain's literary prowess.
Furthermore, the task is compounded by the need to contextualize Twain's essays within the
broader scope of American literature, drawing connections to the socio-political landscape of his
time. Understanding Twain's role as a satirist, humorist, and keen observer of the human
condition adds another layer of complexity to the essay-writing process.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the topic of "Mark Twain Essays" demands more than just
a surface-level exploration of his works. It necessitates a profound engagement with the
intricacies of his writing, a keen analytical eye, and an ability to weave together disparate threads
into a cohesive narrative. Only through this intricate dance of intellect and creativity can one
hope to do justice to the literary legacy of Mark Twain.

Trinity decided to take the bottom up approach when making management decision
about Sarbanes Oxley in 2003 in order to capture all of the business unit costs and
internal measures to ensure that everything flows upward to the management
financial reporting system for the company. The bottom up approach is described as:
The process put forth here begins with exploration and development of personal
codes of conduct that influence workers relationships to their job functions. Next,
formal groupings of employees come together to negotiate moral ideals that they
would hold each other accountable for and that drive combined efforts for
professional success. The subsequent task includes cross group discussion and
cooperation that further... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Control deficiencies, or even significant deficiencies in control, are not publicly
disclosed. Rather, Section 404(b) of SOX requires only the public disclosure of
material weaknesses in internal control over financial reporting. The distinction
between control deficiencies, significant deficiencies and material weaknesses in
internal control is made in Auditing Standard (AS) Number 5 ( PCAOB, 2007),
which requires the external auditor to evaluate the severity of each control
deficiency to determine whether the deficiencies, individually or in combination,
are deemed to be material. (Clinton, Pinella , Skaife, 2014). When it comes to top
down versus bottom up approach, Trinity used a top down approach with Mr.
Collum leading the project on compliance. He and his steering committee laid out
all of the factors for sox compliance and internal controls. A bottom up approach
would have started from manufacturing line of the business. Bottom up has material
risks but can easily be identified and corrected compared to top down where it can
stall an investigation into the risk. This would also improve the financial reporting
for Trinity. Trinity should adapt the EDP system for it operation. An EDP system is
an electronic data processing system that stores it data in one

Was the Hindenburg disaster a result of sabotage committed by the opponents of the
Nazi organization? Did a bolt of lightning strike the zeppelin? Or was one of the most
devastating accidents in aviation history nothing but a cunningly planned insurance

br
br Over 60 years ago, airships were the queens of the skies. In the early 1900s, a
stubborn, yet brilliant German count, Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin, took keen
interest in balloon flights and was devoted to the design and construction of
airships. At first, he had many difficulties and setbacks but soon his airships were
able to accommodate passengers as well. This lighter than air vehicle will later be
known as a zeppelin.

they will see that they were fortunate not to have done so.

Oil Dependency: Increase Research Funds America s dependency on foreign oil is
slowly crippling the average citizen s hard earned income with outrageous
fluctuation in gas prices. The American government seriously needs to step it in
gear and start taking action on possible supplemental energy sources to replace
foreign oil and actually begin providing those sources to the public without
overpricing. Today s foreign oil is polluting our air and crushing we as American s
pockets. Rising U.S. demand for imported oil accounts for more than a third of the

But with more money for further research into the problem, this could ultimately
become obsolete with the hybrid car. There are other means of possible future
solutions to our oil dependency, one being hydrogen fuel cars. This is my main
personal solution to oil energy. The process of retracting hydrogen from water to
be stored within a power cell is genius. This fuel cell is the power source for the car
s engine to run. Maker s of this cell are attempting to develop a hydrogen power
center than can be kept at the owner s residence for fuel fill ups. The idea is for
water to be pumped within this power center and then separate the hydrogen
molecules to be stored within a hydrogen cell. This greater hydrogen cell within the
center would be able to be pumped or drained into the car s power cell, ultimately
creating an alternative fuel source for motor vehicles. With good intentions, there are
already some companies sponsoring further research for this technology. The
FreedomCAR and Fuel Partnership includes the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE),
United States Council for Automotive Research (USCAR), whose members are
DaimlerChrysler Corporation, Ford Motor Company and General Motors
Corporation; and five major energy companies. The government research program

5. External Growth for a Business Essay
Using this example and any others with which you are familiar, assess the potential
implications for business of external growth as compared with organic growth.
Organic growth is when a firm expands its existing capacity or range of activities
by extending its premises or building new factories for example. External growth
however is when two or more businesses come together via a merger or a take over.
There are many implications of external growth. One of the main implications is the
ignorance of the different cultures supported by the two different firms. It involves a
lot of time for a firm to talk out differences which is generally unsupported by senior
managers having little time. This reflects on poor leadership and unclear ... Show

On September 04, 2001, two leading players in the global computer industry Hewlett
Packard Company (HP) and Compaq Computer Corporation (Compaq) announced
their merger. HP was to buy Compaq for US$ 24 billion in stock in the biggest ever

Poor communication between people at each level in the organisation and the other
organisation it is merging with is one of the main reasons why mergers fail. Mergers

authors explored three modes of communication, vocal, gestural, and graphic, with a
young child with Angelman syndrome. The researchers investigated which modeof
communicationwould be the most effective and efficient for the child.
Angelman syndrome can cause cognitive, communication, and physical disabilities. It
is a disorder that affects around 1 in 10,000 births and for the majority of the cases,
the cause is genetic. Angelman syndrome can be caused by an abnormality in

has many advantages, one of the most important being that it provides important
intervention resources.
The main purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy of graphic and gestural
modes of communication with a toddler with Angelman syndrome (Martin, Reichle,
Dimian, Chen, 2013). The participant was Adam, a 21 month old male with
Angelman syndrome. Before the study started, Adam was assessed in
communication, cognition, and fine and gross motor skills. Adam did not engage in
vocal imitation or turn taking. His mother reported that Adam would sometimes
vocalize to get her attention, he would also protest, request, and express excitement.
Adam s fine motor skills were delayed, but he had adequate movements to produce
gestures for the study.
Before the sessions started, the three researchers went through a role play training.
This was done to increase reliability and interobserver agreement between the
researchers. The 44 sessions occurred at the participant s house or at his day care
center. The first session was a baseline probe and the rest of the sessions were
divided into five phases. The sessions were held two times per week for five months.
The materials for the study included three objects or activities that Adam liked or

8. The Impact Of Mentoring On Counseling Programs
The Impact of Mentoring on Counselors
There are many different facets to counseling training programs. One of the most
interesting parts of this program is mentoring. This overview of mentorship will
incorporate what mentorship is, the function of the relationship during mentorship,
and different roles of mentee and mentors. Additionally to that, this overview will
examine how mentorship is handle in counseling programs, and when proper
mentorship is given to mentee, it can lead further future endeavors which are mentee
becoming mentors or find success in careers. When mentoring relationships are
impactful and successful, it can create this domino or ripple effect of change not only
for the student and mentor, but it can affect his or her future performance as
counselors. By applying more ideals from mentoring into counseling programs,
students get a more enriched experience and education while working towards their
goals of becoming counselors.
Looking at Mentorship
What is Mentorship? A mentor is a person whom has greater professional authority.
It is a person whom is several years old than the person that he or she is mentoring.
He or she also needs to have more experience in organization or field. This person acts
as guided into the aspiring occupation. Throughout the process, the mentor provides
direction and support. At the same time, a mentor must find a balance between being
a parental figure and peer in the relationship. Unfortunately, If there is too
9. The Incarceration System During The United States
Our incarceration system once pursued two firm yet opposing goals: retribution and
rehabilitation. The Age of Enlightenment spurred an influx of imprisonment
ideologies that soon congealed into a justifiable approach towards criminals. Jails,
workhouses, and prisons aimed to reintegrate lawbreakers back into society but not
before they were punished. The precarious balance between such contradictory
motives unfortunately proved impossible. When did this system, once considered
virtuous and just, become the hallmark of inequality? On September 27th, 2015,
Pope Francis reflected upon this fact during a visit to a Philadelphia jail, It is painful
when we see prisonsystems, which are not concerned to care for wounds, to soothe
pain, to offer new possibilities. This moving sentiment resonated with the American
population, the majority failing to realize that one third of the world s female prison
population is incarcerated in the United States. If the magnitude of that figure does
not astound you, maybe the fact that every 1 in 15 American prisoners are black,
while only 1 in 106 prisoners are white, will. These statistics, reported by Harper s
Index, quantify the blatant corruption of the American incarceration system and the
institutionalized racismAmerica has sustained throughout it s short life in places
where we may not have suspected. Since the inception of the United States, the
government has had one definitive purpose: to protect the people s rights to life,
10. Research Paper On Man On Wire
One slight miscalculated step and Philippe Petit would find himself pancaked on
the floor of the sidewalk. He risked his well being every day as he persistently
sought for new adventures and structures to walk on. The thrill of each and every
experience inspired him to live his life as a wire walker. However, no one knew
why he would put his life in danger like that. After his performance between the Twin
Towers, people asked him Why? but he answered with, There is no why. The
documentary, Man on Wire, gives us an insight of what his life was like leading up
to the remarkable date, but does not give us the answer as to why a man with a
normal conscience would do such a thing. Although, there are many theories as to
why someone would do such a heedless stunt, the one I conjecture most related to
Petit s experience is a theory introduced by Russell Poldrack. The phenomenal
research conducted by Poldrack further elaborates and delivers a more explicit
explanation of the motive that thrives Petit towards this treacherous lifestyle.
An intriguing man who lacks the fear of death is an impeccable way to describe the
French wire walker Philippe Petit. According to Petit, to encounter death while doing
something you are most passionate about is priceless. The sole meaning of living
revolved around wire walking when it came to him. Absolutely nothing else mattered.
Man On Wire, the film directed by James Marsh in 2008, documented a series of
events that outlined his existence
11. Evaluation Of The Video Discussion
This was a very interesting simulation. As mentioned in the Flipchat video
discussion, I have done several other simulations during my undergrad schooling.
Compared to this simulation they were based in the financial realm focused on
stocks and bonds. However, they all share a similar aspect in regards that their
ultimate goal to maximize profit. Ultimately I ended up doing three different runs
through the simulation that each had unique results. My best results showed a profit
of $37.5 million and a market share of just under 50% for the state of Florida.
During my first run through of the simulations I had simple strategy which was to
mimic the prices of the competition. I matched the prices of competitor for both
weekend and weekday... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, at the same time I believed that because there was only a little gap in
market share, the reputation of Universal was greater than its competition and the
price difference was the reason for the market share gap. Therefore, I lowered the
prices to be comparative to the competitor and my theory was correct and the market
share flipped and Universal gained more as the months progressed. This process is
what I would implement on a larger scale in my second simulation run.
Throughout my second run in the simulation I altered my strategy to have my prices
lower then competition and it backfired greatly on me. My thought process for this
was that having lower prices would definitely raise market share as consumers
would chose the cheaper costs. At the same time I envisioned the drop in prices
would result in more consumers switching companies and renting from Universal,
but I was wrong. The results of this simulation ended with a loss of over $11
million but a market share of over 50%. My error for this simulation was that I
relied too much on lowering prices. In the first simulation the last three months were
the competition increased their prices and there were no change to universal resulted
in losses of profits. I took that as not adjusting the prices and not that my prices were
too low. However, after the second simulation
12. Summary Of The Jataka Tales
THE JATAKA TALES On a warm July night, a prince was born in Jambudvipa
(India). He grew up in a lifestyle filled with the finest of things, confined in his
palace, being sheltered from the realities of danger. His father raised him to be the
next wheel turning king. Siddhartha Gautama did not know that he had the
markings that predetermined his life. His father chose him as king, but as history
proves, his dharma was to be the Buddha. Siddhartha s encounter with the outside
world during his manhood, struck him to his core. He would refuse the heir to the
throne, and with his Great Departure he would seek out the life of the ascetics to
find meaning to the world s sufferings. During his six year journey, he was still
plagued with questions of suffering and remained in meditation until he found his
answers. Here under the Bodhi tree, he found the answers in which he was
earnestly seeking, and in the process transformed himself into the Enlightened
One. Awoke from his prolonged unconsciousness, he understood that every living
thing was a part of Samsara (The eternal cycle of life). He spoke of reincarnation
and how a person would continue to be born, live, and die over many life times
until he changed his karma and gradually made his way towards Brahmin. This goal
can take many life times, hundreds, even thousands. Buddha spoke of his many
embodiments and how he made his way to his last rebirth as the Buddha. The Jataka

13. Culture In Mexican Culture
Culture has been defined in many ways. Hofstede for an example stated that
culture is defined at a national level and has a set of values and beliefs within the
culture. He also states that people of the Mexican community belong to the
collectivistic group, they also rank high in the power distance, uncertainty
avoidance, and masculinity groups as well. The collectivistic group refers to a
group of people that means that they are committed to their relationships,
regarding their family, extended family, and friends. This is also applied on a
daily basis and in business related conversations as well. Mexican people like to get
to know a person before doing business with you. They love the socialization and
conversation that comes with it. Mexicans also get along with others quite easily,
they are interested in meeting new people. In our country, the roles between a man
and a woman are still very different. When it comes to the working environment,
the majority of the high ranking position is still held mostly by men. As well as in
the household, where women are supposed to have a better chance and taking care
of the children, men are still head of the house. Even though there are women in the
world that are highly educated and hold a high position in the work force, the
journey getting it is not easy. Statistically, it was shown to be easier for women to
hold a position in fields such as education, services, and politics than in other fields.
This is probably because of the

20. Television in Society
Synthesis Essay
Television, a widely accepted form of media and communication, has spread into the
political world with an amazing speed. There are both useful and detrimental aspects
to this newfound relationship between television and politics. Sources A and E
describe the more useful aspects of television within the political sphere, whereas
Sources B and C portray the contrastingly detrimental aspects. Television has become
useful in keeping the public informed as to public issues, political rivalries and of
course, the political elections. One of the great contributions expected of television
lay in its presumed capacity to inform and stimulate the political interests of the
American electorate, (Source A), suggests the increased communication between the
public and their political system. Citizens are able to receive a quick, presumably
reliable source of information they otherwise would usually receive later, with less
details, and second hand. The televised events create a new, immediate contact with
political events (Source A), which is important as technology allows for greater
global and national communication. Additionally, Source E portrays the importance
of public opinion and the sway of television over political leaders for significant
events. The significance of television in conjunction with the political leaders
themselves are exemplified by the fact that if Walter Cronkite thought that the war
was hopeless, the American people would think so

Reporting and Interpreting Cost of Goods Sold and Inventory
ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS
1.Inventory often is one of the largest amounts listed under assets on the balance
sheet which means that it represents a significant amount of the resources available
to the business. The inventory may be excessive in amount, which is a needless waste
of resources; alternatively it may be too low, which may result in lost sales.
Therefore, for internal users inventory control is very important. On the income
statement, inventory exerts a direct impact on the amount of income. Therefore,
statement users are interested particularly in the amount of this effect and the way in
which inventory is measured. Because of its impact on both ... Show more content on

To illustrate, assume item A is stocked and three are on the shelf. One cost $100;
the second one cost $115; and the third cost $125. Now assume that one unit is
sold for $200. If it is assumed arbitrarily that the first unit is sold, the gross profit
will be $100; if the second unit is selected, the gross profit will be $85; or
alternatively, if the third unit is selected, the gross profit will be $75. Thus, the
amount of gross profit (and income) will vary significantly depending upon which
one of the three is selected arbitrarily from the shelf for this particular sale. This
assumes that all three items are identical in every respect except for their unit costs.
Of course, the selection of a different unit cost, in this case, also will influence the

22. On Symbolism In Desert Places And The Road Not Taken,
By...
In the Norton Anthology of American literature there are many writers, short
stories, poems, and literature that has been greatly awarded and praised
throughout the world. It seems that for an American that this is the all star lineup
for the Robert Frost poems that everybody knows the most, but the question in all
these stories remain the same, what are they talking about. Most people who have
the opportunity to sit in an English class have the same questions asked by their
teachers. What is this story talking about, and or how is the author using
symbolism in his or her work? The Norton Anthology of American literature have
two of my favorite pieces of work, Desert Places and The Road Not Taken by
Robert Frost. In each of these works of art, the author always has a hidden
symbolism that they want you to understand. In the Road Not Taken by Robert
Frost, symbolism is used by getting the reader to experience its own life, in which
the reader has had to decide where to roads diverge. One of my favorite parts of
this poem is the very first line. Two roads diverge in a yellow wood. (Frost 105)
The old saying says that a picture is worth a thousand words is just simply amateur
for Robert Frost. The fact that Robert Frost can paint a magnificent portrait from
seven words is astonishing. The obvious symbolism for this first line is that the
yellow wood represents that it is fall. Leaves are falling, the weather is changing and
for many people in the south it is their favorite time of the year. On Lookout
Mountain and Mount Cheaha in Alabama it is my second favorite time of the year,
after winter. The symbolism that is not obvious... Show more content on

The soft, quite call of the Whippoorwill, signaling to the slaves that it was safe to
come out and seek freedom with Moses, also known as Harriet Tubman. She was
well known for taking slaves on the Underground Railroad as it was called.
Ironically, the railroad was not underground, nor was it a railroad. Harriet Tubman
is seen as a heroic figure by many people for her selflessness and her courage to go
back to the plantations that she once lived on, just to help free other slaves. Harriet
Tubman is a heroic figure because when she became free, she did not run and leave
all the other slaves, she kept on going back to help them. Initially, when Harriet
became free, she could have run to Canada to get away from pursuit and to seek
freedom.
24. Genetic Macromolecules
Biological evolution begins with the origin of life, but the subject is the perhaps the
most interdisciplinary of any in science. Understanding how life began on Earth
requires knowledge of the astronomical, geological, and atmospheric settings.
However, those settings are in turn dependent on knowing the time period when life
arose, which comes from the fossil and molecular records, including molecular clocks
based on genetic mutations. Interrelated with the setting is the chemistry that
generates the organic molecules used to assemble the first cells and carry the genetic
information to successive generations of cells. But holding the chemical reactions
and products together in a cellrequires a membrane, and the assembly of that involves

25. How Does The Economy Affect The Australian Economy
The Australian economy can both have positive and negative affects on FASTA. To
start, in reference to Reserve Bank Australia, the inflation rate is 1.9%, employment
growth is 3.0%, cash rate is 4%, GDP growth rate is 3.5%, wage growth is 2.1%,
average weekly earnings are $1,192.00, and finally the Australian dollar equals $0.75
US dollars. In analysis, the inflationrate, cash rate, wage growth and employment
growth are beneficial to the business since the businesses expenses aren t as high as it
would be if the Australian economywas booming. As an effect this will cause
FASTA to be able to have expansion and improvements such as, more efficient
machinery at a lower cost, while also reducing the amount to be expended on
operational expenses. However, the main negative effect of the Australian economy
on FASTA is the decrease in sales due to the customers struggling to afford products.
While other outcomes include, the increased cost of imports, the decrease in the
value of exports, and the more accounts receivable due to low interest rates. Now it is
important to discuss strategies that FASTA can use too cope with the periodic
economic conditions and to make the most benefit out of the advantages of the
economy.

need to mess up, but you get to learn how to deal with these DNR policies the right
way. Yuen (2011) has really opened my eyes on how this could really go wrong in
an instant, especially when it comes to DNR. She shows that when it comes to a

are competent enough to make their own decisions. Then when a patient shows
signs of not being able to continue life and resuscitating them would do no good,

Although there are many different perspectives taken in the two novels that shape the
overall theme of each plot, comparisons can be drawn between them to show that
they share a few fundamental similarities in the way that the authors present their
narrative. By looking at the this presentation, it is possible to extract that the authors

they seem to perceive their own role as a novelist and their perspectives on the theme

31. Refugees And Human Rights Law
Refugee law is closely related to international human rights law, and some would
consider it to be a branch of human rights law.
Refugee law has been an important issue for countries everywhere. Refugees can
be seen as a burden to most countries prior to World War II when every state had
their borders open to home thousands. The first part of this paper will look at the
prime legislation available to refugees. The second part will focus more closely on
the relevant case law over time in regards to refugees and human rights.
Refugees are protected by two primary legislation at the international level, the first
being the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees and the 1967
Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees. These two combined provided the
most protection for refuges but was only followed by countries who had signed
both at the time. This is of key importance as this effected how refugees were being
treated when they entered into nation states when fleeing for their safety. Refugees
by definition are victims of human rights violations . Under the 1951 Refugee
Convention a refugee is defined as to any person and owing to a well founded fear
of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a
particular social group or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality
and is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of

35. Angry Black Woman Stereotype Analysis
The primary issue of this article lies in the perpetuation of the angry black woman
stereotype. The angry black woman stereotype can be seen as an extension of the
matriarch and sapphire stereotypes, both derivative of the dominant ideology of the
slave era that was created to maintain black women s subordination. The matriarch
stereotype is presented as a domineering, aggressive, masculine, and fiercely
independent black woman whose forceful nature emasculates and demoralizes black
men to the point that they abandon their families (Newsome, 37). This image
functions to devalue, exploit, and subjugate African American women through an
idealized wielding of power that is in no way supported by the actual power
structures of America (Newsome,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is problematic because often, black women feel inclined to either live up to
the stereotype at the risk of disguising any appearance of vulnerability, or they may
modify their behavior in an attempt to appear nonthreatening or stereotypical
(Walley Jean 73). Even though there is little empirical research that has
specifically investigated black women s actual experiences with expression of
anger, the assumptions that it is a defining characteristic is pervasive. This
stereotype has permeated American society for decades and continues to influence
the world s view of black women through television, cinema, and virtually every
other form of media. Anger is a universal emotion that is experienced throughout
the lifespan of every person, yet it is often seen as a definitive aspect of black
women s personalities and identities as human beings. Behaving in an assertive and
outspoken manner would usually be seen as a reflection of strength and intelligence,
but for black women, it is viewed as trenchant and domineering (Walley Jean, 69).
This controlling image ensures black women are void of anger privilege (social and
structural freedom to openly express anger) that more powerful and higher status
individuals (whites) enjoy. (Walley Jean,
36. How Did Marco Polo Influence The World
In the words of Elbert Hubbard, He who influences the thought of his time influences
the times that follow (Quotes). Marco Polo, who lived in the thirteenth and
fourteenth centuries, was able to do exactly that. Marco Polo was a Venetian who
traveled along the Silk Road, in the time of the Mongolian Dynasty, to China.
Because of the time he spent in the court of Kublai Khanand Mongolia, Marco Polo
was able to become a highly influential explorer leading to the Age of Discovery.
Marco Polo was able to influence Kublai Khan s court and the Western world
because of the vast opportunities given to him by Kublai Khan. After making the
journey to Mongolia when he was 15, the Polos served in Kublai Khan s court for 16
years (Brown). During this time, Marco was given many opportunities to travel

journey is validated by the Map With Ship. This is a map that was produced in the
thirteenth century by Marco Polo. The map clearly resembles the Alaskan and
Russian coastlines (Map). This is just one of the extremely significant journeys that
Marco Polo made on behalf of Kublai Khan. Along with making journeys throughout
the Mongolian Empire, the Polos were also employed to make journeys outside of
the empire, acting as ambassadors for Kublai Khan. For instance,

Virginia Woolf s essay is dark and depressing, with no chance of hope. Even though
this might be the case, the two essays are great in showing style, content, and
purpose. Though, both essays have some differences. The way that they relate a moth
to their lives is just incredible. Virginia Woolf
s essay is speaking about life and death

she describes this moth flying around the windowpane. This moth is dying. It keeps

Dillard writing is so descriptive that it is useful in visualizing every single detail
that s going on. Another great description that Dillard gives is when she says, Her
moving wings ignited like tissue paper, like an angles wings... that paragraph in
her essay is very informative. Annie Dillard s purpose in this essay is that there is
no end to life; she gives hope in a way that even after death a person still has some
sort of meaning. Just like the moth, it was able to make the candle glow even
brighter. At the end there was still a purpose for the insect. She describes how the
moth is glowing from within like a building fire glimpsed through silhouetted
walls... Dillard explains specifically the way that the moth suffers and dies. The
moth relates to Dillard in a way that the moth was remembered by the glowing light
it left. Dillard went to the mountains to be inspired to write again, and she did.
Somehow it seems as if the moth gave her some type of

What qualifies anyone to be a hero? These are just a few of the many questions that

Grendel and to win the goodwill , that is hard to believe. Grendel is basically an
indestructible evil giant with razor sharp teeth and huge claws. This is probably
one of Beowulf s greatest challenges. What better way to gain fame and glory than
by killing his greatest monster yet? Your actions are things that you do to be a hero,
but your motives and intentions determine if those actions actually matter. For
example, two children want to help an elderly woman find her dogs. There is a cash
reward for $100 per dog. They each find one dog. They are both awarded the reward
money. The first child helps find the dog because she loves dogs and thinks no dog
should be lost and away from there owner. The second child helps find the dog
because he just wants $100 dollars. Who is the hero in this case? They both found a
dog, so what does it matter, right?
The story of Beowulf portrays Grendel as this ignorant, bloodthirsty killing machine.

Julia also went through the process and was stripped of her dignity.Violence is a

Big Brother controls his citizens. He has posters all over the city of himself. It

Another form of propaganda is the mics hidden around the city to capture and detect
the people breaking the law. I didn t want to say anything in the lane, she said, In
41. Yosemite Poem Analysis
I notice that Kay Ryan develops the meaning of the poem from literal to metaphorical.
She does this throughout the stanzas. The first stanza says, They are not imaginary
but accessible only intermittently. She uses language that leads the readers to believe
that this poem is literal. In the second stanza, this is where the meaning of the poem
shifts from literal to metaphorical. She says Seasonal, shall we say, in the way of
the exquisite high parts of Yosemite . After reading and examining this stanza, the
meaning of the poem opens up and changes from literal to metaphorical. What if
These places weren t actual places, they were a state of mind. This makes sense
because a feeling or a state of mind is not imaginary, it s real and certain feelings are
accessible only occasionally, hence the word Seasonal . Plus, if the... Show more

Since we figured out the meaning of the poem was metaphorical, based on the
evidence from the previous stanzas, now we can come to conclusions that this state
of mind, once having visited you hope that you won t be there forever. This
decision for her to develop the poem from literal to metaphorical helped us find the
deeper meaning. In the first stanza when she said They are not imaginary but
accessible only intermittently, we automatically thought this poem would be about
real life places. Then, when we got to the second stanza, this opened up our
thinking from a literal to metaphorical meaning. The last stanza helped us figure
out the deeper meaning to the poem. Since we have concluded that the poem was
about a state of mind or a feeling someone experiences we could start to interpret
the poem. Let s say a person feels pure joy, this feeling isn t imaginary, but for her
this feeling is only reachable at certain times. This feeling of pure joy is so beautiful,
in the way of exquisite high parts of

43. Mayan Calendar
The creation of calendars has helped different people of different cultures to reflect
time within their cultures. However, the issue for these people was: How would
they be able to use what is around them to give the passage of time to their people?
Well since the beginning of time cultures like the Mayans, Egyptians, or to the time
of Julius Caesar, have learned how to use scientific ways that fit under lunar, solar
or lunisolar methods. And because of the methods used by these peoples, we were
able to develop the calendar we use now, the Julian calendar.
There are a variety of cultures that have learned how to portray the passage of time,
but the earliest goes back to around 3100 BC. The origins of the calendar can be

In the Gregorians, we see advancements in their astronomical ways of developing
their calendars, such as how the there were changes in the motion of the Earth and the
Sun. However, the Council of Trent came to fix the calendar of the Gregorians
because the length of their calendar was affecting the liturgical calendar. We have
Pope Gregory reforming the calendar by dropping ten days of the original calendar.
The pope also, Every fourth year would continue as a leap year, with an extra day in
February. (Source 3) As a result of these changes, we received the calendar we use
today, the Julian calendar.
Overall, scientific method organized under solar, lunar, and lunisolar were
methods leading up to the creation of the Julian calendar. It all began by the
Egyptians using the moon s cycles to slowly evolve their calendar. After that, the
Mayans and Aztecs come in where they also used celestial bodies to form longer or
shorter day years. In the end, we have the Gregorians whose calendar had to be
modified by Pope Gregory in order to not affect the liturgical calendar. As a result,
we now have the Julian Calendar we follow that every fourth year counts as a leap

This is the project phase of business critical implementation application when
business gathers requirements and define phases when an organization requires (ten
steps to business process blueprinting, n.d.).
For every project or business what we have to know what should be implemented
and how much time will it take to implement that particular task. There should be a
clear and detail description about work which needs to be implemented and how it
looks like after completion which approximate time interval. There are some steps for
explaining the process (ten steps to business process blueprinting, n.d.):
Develop a process inventory: which contains the inventory of all the processes where
there are known and unknown processes. This helps to make a good start with one
process and complete them in a sequential manner without failure.
Establish the foundation: which provides scope to better understand the boundaries
of the project and provides basic information about the process which is started first.
Draw Blueprint: explains the process, different departments, and tasks required in a
project from starting of the project till the end of the project.
Estimate Time and Cost: it is very crucial for every project to estimate how much
time will project takes to complete and base measurement cost for entire completion
of the project.
Verify the Process Blueprint: after the completion of the plan regarding the project

Although the Health and Safety at work etc. Act 1974 provides criminal legislation
for employers, there are various key health and safety requirements that identify a
duty of care owed to an employee by an employer, that have been set via precedents.
This essay aims to identify the key health and safety requirements owed by an
employer to an employee, deriving from common law, including the principle of
vicarious liability

The case Caparo Industries v Dickman is a leading case that identifies a test to
determine whether or not an employer owes a duty of care within a negligence case.

In this case a warden in charge of maintain discipline in a boarding house, sexually
abused boys aged between 12 and 15. His duties where to ensure order, make sure
children went to bed, school and took part in organised activities. Lord Steyn was
satisfied that the employers entrusted the warden with caring for the children at
the boarding home. He stated that the wardens acts were so closely connected
with his employment that it would be fair and just to hold the employers
vicariously liable . This went against the Salmond test, which Lord Steyn deemed
inadequate, providing an example of how the current test could deem a bank not
liable for a employee defrauding a customer and pocketing money unless the bank
was set up to defraud customers. In this case the Salmond test would find the
employer not liable, as it was not his job role to sexually abuse the children. Steyn
s new close connection test focused on three main principles; a broad approach
should be adopted when considering the scope of employment, the time and place
of the act should not be conclusive in reaching a decision, and there must be a
connection between the employees duties and the acts committed. This test is fairer
in identifying whether an employer should be held vicariously liable. The
expansion of this scope of employment is further visited in the case Dubai
Aluminium Co Ltd v Salaam and Others where a dishonest fraud act by an
employee was also deemed as being closely connected with the scope of
employment, so therefore the employer could be held liable for an employees
dishonest actions during the ordinary course of business, so they were deemed joint
liable with the

Quebec has a humid continental climate, with four distinct seasons having warm to
occasionally hot and humid summers and very cold and snowy winter. The seasons

47. Essay On Six Months To Break A Behavior
Some people say that it takes six months to break a habit. However, I personally
think it requires more of a mental change rather than just a physical change to
break a behavior regardless if it s six months or shorter. In this case, I had two
weeks to change a behavior I did on a daily basis. For this paper I worked on two
things that I wanted to work on. First, It was not wearing makeup for a week and
second, I really wanted to subtract dairy products from my diet. After I give a
reflection of my experience, I will being to talk about my internship and how we
encourage a change behavior within our families. I wanted to focus eliminating
dairy products in my daily intake and find a substitute if possible. I didn t realize
how much milk, cheese and eggs I ate throughout the day until I had to find a habit
to change. I would eat cereal in the morning because it was the easiest breakfast,
eggs for either breakfast or dinner and cheese with almost everything I ate. At
school, It seemed like I would gravite my way to dairy products naturally like
pizza, sandwiches, or coffee. Taking dairy products out of my diet has always been
something I wanted to try doing, but I never seemed to happened. Reason being, I
believe dairy products affect my digestive system and might be causing me to have
acne more than usual(that s just my theory). When I started, I substituted milk for
Almond milk and didn t eat or buy anything made with eggs or cheese. During this
week, I struggled a lot with
48. Irish Immigrants and the New York Draft Riots of 1863
The New York Draft Riots of 1863 In the summer of 1863 New York experienced
one of the most violent protests in the American history. The riots were mainly in
reaction to the Union draft for the Civil War, which Abraham Lincoln enacted when
volunteers began to run out. The riots lasted for five days, and the mob consisted of
almost 50,000 angry men who opposed to the Civil War, draft and Emancipation
Proclamation. This paper will discuss how the Irish immigrants in New York affected
the draft riots of 1863, and the reason behind their participation, exploring
specifically the social, class and racial issues the Irish immigrants faced. The United
States saw an influx of Irish immigrants due to the Great Famine (potatoes) in Ireland.

An article in the Journal of Negro History explains the opposition to the draft
perfectly, it seemed that the act bore especially heavily upon the poor...and it
would force white workers to fight to free the slaves who would soon become
rivals for employment. This caused Irish to attack specifically the military forces,
the wealthy, and the blacks in New York. The riots lasted for five days, beginning
on July 13 until July 17 when Lincoln had to send extra police and regiments of
soldiers from Pennsylvania to bring the mobs under control. McPherson describes,
on the first day of the riot, mobs of Irish workers roamed the streets, burned the draft
office, sack and burned the homes of prominent Republicans and tried to
unsuccessfully demolish the New York Tribune building. As time went on the riots
got worse, by the end of the first day they were attaching any black people on the
street, anyone who tried to calm them and even white employers who hired black
workers. As the mob moved through the city, intensifying their actions, they burned
down the Colored Orphan Asylum. One account stated that,
the children numbering 233, were quietly seated in their school rooms... when an
infuriated mob, consisting of several thousand men, women and children armed with
clubs, brick bats etc. advanced upon the Institution. The crowd took as much of the
bedding,
49. Greenhouse Effect Vs Venus Greenhouse Effect
After examining the figures in the illustration, discuss the difference the greenhouse
effect plays in the atmosphere of the Moon, Earth, and Venus.
Energy from the sun heats the earth surface and atmosphere. Short wave solar
radiation is the energy that comes from the sun. When this radiation passes through
the atmosphere and strikes an object three things happen. First, some of the energy is
absorbed. Second, some simply transmit this energy. Third, some bounce off the
object without being absorbed. The greenhouse effect is the transmission of these
short wave solar radiation and longer wavelength radiation, known as (terrestrial
radiation) which are absorbed through water vapors and carbon dioxide. This type of
greenhouse effect happens
50. My Favorite Name Essay
Everyone has a story. Some people can tell their lives, and it sounds like an
adventurous packed children s book. Others can tell their story and make it sound
like an academy award winning romance movie. Every story is Unique and special.
My story, I would say, is a tale of hard work, ambition, and love. When I pass, I will
still have a story, a legacy in my name to live on. My full name is Haley Anika
Brazel. Every Single unique name in the word has a different meaning. Together
my name means a graceful and strifeful meadow of hay. My first name, Haley,
comes from odd english and means meadow of hay. My middle name, which is by
far my favorite name is, Anika. Anika, comes from latin origins and means
graceful. My last name, comes from Irish origins, and means strife. Anyone who
knows me, will know, I am not very graceful and I am usually not strifeful. I am not
usually caught dancing or strolling through meadows of hay, so I would say my
name strays from my personality. By far, my favorite name is Anika. When I was
a baby my mother asked my sister what I should be named. My sister was only five
at the time, so she picked a barbie princess she loved. My mom liked the name so
she named me Haley and made my middle name Anika. Since my sister has passed,
I take comfort in the fact, my middle name was given to me by her. If I would have
been born as a boy, my parents would have named me Conner. Conner is my little
brothers name, so they did get to use it eventually.
51. The Social Contract
In The Social Contract, Jean Jacque Rousseau theorized the best way to establish a
political community in the face of social problems. He believed that legitimate
political authority comes from a social contract agreed upon by all citizens for their
mutual preservation. Everyone forfeits the same amount of rights and has the same
duties in order to establish freedom and to create equality under the law. While
modern day laws presumably work to ensure liberty and equality, there is a
pervasive sense of unfair treatment (Conley and O Barr 2002: 5) when micro
analyzing the application of these laws. Deliberate uses of language work to
influence the law and judicial hearing as seen in conversation analysis and discourse
analysis. Conversational... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sally Merry s experience at the UN revolves around a culture of human rights that is
English speaking, secular, Universalist, and law governed, which is not a relatable
framework for many non Western countries. As a result, countries in which English
is the language of educated people are more active in debates, while non English
speaking countries must take the time to translate conversations into their native
languages and interpret from there. Conley and O Barr witness this Standard
Language Ideology, which elevates English as an ideal standard language. In one
particular case, a defendant spoke Mixtec, a Mesoamerican language spoken in
Mexico, yet he was provided with a Cuban Spanish speaking translator with no
knowledge of Mixtec. Translation difficulties occurred due to Referential
Transparency, assumption that expressions in one language can be
unproblematically... translated verbatim into another (Conley O Barr 2005: 150). The
attorney asked the witness for Spanish terms even though the witness did not know
Spanish. This trial, as well as UN meetings, force non English speakers to assimilate
to western rhetoric that is difficult to adapt to and loses the nuance of the primary
52. Vikings Influence On How Women Were Treated In
Medieval
It s a well known fact that in history women weren t always treated the best. They
were often treated as little more than the property of a man, be it their father or
their husband. The only time women would be able to get away from that, was if
she was widowed, although she might not always manage it then, or if she became a
nun which wasn t always possible especially after The Protestant Reformation and
doing away with nunneries and monasteries. It s important to look back at stories of
how women were treated and how they are respected within literature to get a full
understanding of how much we have progressed in this age. how A question one
might ask is how the history of Vikings might influence how women were treated in
that medieval
