Mark Twain was born in 1835 in Florida, Missouri and raised in Hannibal, Missouri. He had a limited formal education, leaving school after 5th grade when his father died, and worked various jobs including as a printer, newspaper writer, and riverboat captain before turning to writing, where he found great success with novels like The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, which have become American classics.
