A marine biome is a large aquatic zone that takes up almost 75% of Earth's surface, has a salt
concentration around 3%, and is distinguished from other biomes by its physical environment.
According to Campbell Essential Biology with Physiology, (2010), the habitats of a marine biome
varies depending on the level of the sea that it exists (pp.382). The layers or "zones" that make up
the marine biome consist of the pelagic realm, the intertidal zone, the photic zone, the aphotic zone,
and the benthic realm. The pelagic realm is the part of the marine biome that includes all open water.

Other marine life that exist in this ecosystem prey on other species for food, such as shark, octopus,
and larger fish prey on smaller marine life for food. Herbivory is a large part of the marine life,
which is the consumption of plant parts or algae by an animal. Phytoplankton, known as algae and
other plants of the marine environment is the producer for food of many species living in this
ecosystem. The consumer relies directly or indirectly on the output of the producers. A main hazard
to this ecosystem caused by humans would be pollution. The acid precipitation, toxic chemicals, and
other contaminants are harming the aquatic environment, and it contributes to the dwindling
population of species in this ecosystem. According to (Dickey, Reece & Simon, 2010), this human
behavior has contributed to the decline in commercial fish species, dying coral reefs, and even the
closing of some beaches due to pollution. The abiotic factors present in this ecosystem consist of
temperature, light, water, minerals, and air. Majority of organisms living in this aquatic environment
require specific temperatures to survive, although temperatures can vary according to the species.
Obviously, water is a part of the aquatic environment, and is actually essential to all parts of life.
Light plays a major part in the photosynthesis process for many organisms

Marine Pollution And Its Effects On The Marine Environment
THE EFFECT OF SHIPPING ON THE ENVIRONMENT: Shipping comprises about 90 percent of
world trade by volume, contributing approximately twelve percent of the total marine pollution
arising from human activities on the ocean. The shipping operations and associated port activities
that have been identified as having the greatest potential impact on the marine environment are:
Pollution has an effect on: a) Entire marine ecosystems b) Public health c) Our marine resources
(fisheries, tourism and shipping costs) Marine pollution can take many forms, such as: Oil spills
from routine activities or accidental incidents; Oil poisons marine life, and oil slicks keep sunlight
from penetrating the ocean's water, killing plants and damaging the entire marine ecosystem.
Disposal of marine debris; Plastics thrown into the sea can stay there for many years and harm
marine life. A huge number of marine animals die every year from either ingesting or becoming
entangled in plastic trash. Garbage can also threaten ships and raise costs when it becomes trapped
on propellers and in seawater intakes. Spills of hazardous materials including chemical and
radioactive materials; When released into the oceans, chemicals used in the shipping industry
(sometimes referred to as chemical runoff) can cause harm to marine life as well as to maritime
workers. Disposal of waste materials and sewage; Sewage contains chemicals that alter the marine
environment, causing some marine life to die and other marine

Becoming A Marine Biologist
The science of Marine Biology is the study of Marine organisms. Marine Biology is the
comprehension about the marine world and provides the process of science. I want to become a
Marine Biologist because i want to spend time outdoors by the water, and study different habitats in
the ecosystem. This paper will focus on the history, requirements, duties, and job outlook of a
Marine Biologist and Oceanographer.
History & Background Marine Biology is important for scientists to determine the quality of the
marine environment to ensure the water quality is sufficient to sustain a healthy environment.
Marine Biology started as early as 1200 BC, when the phoenicians began ocean voyages using
celestial navigation. Aristotle identified a variety of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You either collect process and analyze data, review reports for industries. You also prepare reports
about the environment and you communicate about them to industries and the government. You may
also be in a position where will get to gather data about the relationships between the organisms and
the environment. The workplace environment is either cold or hot weather in different types of areas
in the world. In wet places like the ocean, sea, or even zoos and aquariums. You get to travel to
different parts of the world to learn more about the fascinating life under the water. The average
salary is $77,630 or $39,700–$124,680 depends on your level of education.
Conclusion
Overall Marine Biology is important because today the possibilities for ocean exploration are
endless. So far, in spite of advanced technology it has been concluded that only 5% of the ocean has
actually been explored. We may also face great risks not only to the environment but to our own
human health as well. The public has been aware of these dangerous risks and are now taking action
and are encouraging other agencies to help take action and promote research. Works Cited:

The Importance Of Marine Conservation
Sophie Huggins The role of Marine Protected Areas (MPA's) and why marine conservation is
important for saving the ocean for current and future generations. From the air to breathe, water to
drink, food to eat, the need for constant medical advances, and to the products that keep us warm,
safe, and entertained – all these can come from or be transported by the oceans for human society5.
As the oceans cover a large expanse of the earth's surface and are huge ecosystems, our security,
economy and survival all require healthy oceans. Whether we live near the coast or far from it,
whether we consume seafood or not, life depends on the marine ecosystem. We need to devote more
energy into research, monitoring and enforcement of laws in order to increase scientific knowledge,
monitor exploitation, protect and prevent degradation and damage to species and their habitats.
There are many reasons why the oceans should be conserved and protected. For instance, at any
given moment in time, more than 97% of the world's water resides in oceans which means that they
make up 99% of liveable space on earth6. The World's oceans provide a sixth of the animal protein
that people eat5. More than 8 million tonnes of plastic are dumped into the oceans every year, more
than 80 percent of marine plastic litter, comes from land–based sources, such as drink bottles and
plastic packaging. The remainder comes from sea–based plastics, such as fishing gear that has been
dropped or discarded9. This is not

Motos Of Marines
What are some Motos that the Marines have?
There have been multiple motos throughout the years that the U.S. Marines have existed. The
Marines have changed their motos four times through 1805–1850s. Those four motos were; "To the
Shores of Tripoli," adopted in 1805; "Fortitude," adopted in 1812; "From the Halls of Montezuma to
the Shores of Tripoli," adopted in 1848; and "By Sea and by Land," adopted in the 1850's. Finally
sticking with one permanent saying in 1861. "Semper Fidelis" is now the official motto of the
United States Marine Corps. Now you might ask, What does that mean? Semper Fidelis is latin and
translated to english it means, "Always Faithful." U.S. Marines (active, retired, reserve, and
veterans) use an abbreviated verbal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Courage means willingness to take a stand for what is right in even though that it may put your life
in danger. This courage, throughout the history of the Corps, has helped Marines during the chaos,
perils, and hardships of combat. And each day, it enables each Marine to look in the mirror and be
proud ("The United States...").
Commitment is total dedication to Corps and Country. All for one, one for all.. By whatever name or
cliche, commitment is a combination of selfless determination and a relentless dedication to
excellence. Marines never give up, never give in, never will fall in second place. Excellence is
always the goal in the Marine. And, when their active duty days are over, Marines remain reserve
Marines, retired Marines, or Marine veterans. There is no such thing as an ex–Marine or former–

Essay On Marine Pollution
In this image we can see a seal laying on the beach but if we look even closer, we will notice that
this seal has a plastic ring around its snout, this is caused by pollution. It feels as if the seal has just
giving up and it's just accepting to die there. It's almost seems that we can feel the sadness projecting
to us. This image makes me think how many aquatic life's must die because of our mistake. I chose
this image, so people can see the real damage that we cause when we liter on the beach. Based on
this image I would like to focus on

mi) (about the size of Texas) to more than 15,000,000 square kilometers (5,800,000 sq. mi) (0.4% to
8% of the size of the Pacific Ocean). The next thing I want to focus on my inquiry is what are the
main causes of marine pollution. One of the main causes of marine pollution are plastic, and
garbage's. Pollution from the littering that we do from far inland are blown by the wind over long
distances and end up in the ocean. These objects can be anything from natural things like dust and
sand, to man–made objects such as debris and trash. Most debris, especially plastic debris, cannot
decompose and remains suspended in the oceans current for years.
Animals can become snagged on the plastic or mistake it for food, slowly killing them over a long
period of time. Another cause of marine pollution is that Industrial and agricultural waste are
another most common form of wastes that are directly discharged into the oceans, resulting in ocean
pollution. The dumping of toxic liquids in the ocean directly affects the marine life as they are
considered hazardous and secondly, they raise the temperature of the ocean, known as thermal
pollution, as the temperature of these liquids is quite high. Animals and plants that cannot survive at
higher temperatures eventually will die. Another problem of marine pollution is land ran off. This
occurs when water from rain or flooding flows over the land and into the ocean.

Marine Pollution Essay
The world population is living, working, vacationing, increasingly conglomerating along the coasts,
and standing on the front row of the greatest, most unprecedented, plastic waste tide ever faced. So,
this is an opportunity to learn about the ocean from a big experiment that has already been put in
place by humans. Over the last several decades, human activities have so altered the basic chemistry
of the seas that they are now experiencing evolution in reverse: a return to the barren primeval
waters of hundreds of millions of years ago. Marine pollution is basically the consequences of
oceanic destruction which means when hazardous materials and chemicals enter the ocean or a big
body of water and spread to rate of exponential growth and decrease the lifespan of nearby marine
animals. Marine pollution is not just given in the word itself, but it holds a deeper understanding
than most know. Plastic bottles and cigarette buds are visible to the eye and can be removed by just
picking it up, but there is another monstrosity roaming the oceans called the plastisphere. Which is
still a form of marine pollution that very few understand. The plastisphere are tiny, microscopic
plastic pieces that make their way into the ocean and give microbial (relating to or characteristic of a
microorganism) squatters a place to take up residence. It is still in question whether or not the
impact is good or bad and which outweighs the other. Even small particles like this can have a

The life of Marine animals lies in the hands of scientist who try to study and protect them. From the
early years of human life, marine animals have taken a part in the lives of humans as a source of
food and everyday uses, but as the years have progressed and humans got curious we have started to
study marine animal life and there ecosystems. Marine life has aided us and also it has perished and
is still experiencing loses. The marine biology world has helped marine animals and has hurt them,
but the controversial issues might actually outweigh the good things marine biologists have done
and learned. Marine biology is the study of the interactions of living things in and near the ocean
ecosystem.(Cronin). A Greek philosopher named Aristotle was thought to be the first Marine
Biologist. He documented and described many forms of marine life. During the Renaissance period,
Europeans started to explore the world. At first the exploration was about conquering the new land
and traveling to different lands, but over time the explorers became curious about the ocean and
what was in it. Soon explorers began to take Naturalist on their explorations to make scientific
discovers about the ocean and lands. By the mid eighteen hundreds explorations were being funded
solemnly for scientific research. As an alternative to working on boats where specimens could only
be collected and preserved (as dead) and long–term observations were impossible, many scientists

The Marine Corps As A Marine
Once a Marine, Always a Marine
There are many different cultures or social groups that have a language barrier whether that is
because of religion, race, or social differences. These language barriers eventually will have to be
overcome so that we can all communicate with each other. Out of these social groups, comes the
greatest fighting force in the World, The Marine Corps. Marines have a very unique language dialog
that has been preserved for hundreds of years Unfortunately, there comes a point in time when a
Marine must transition out of the Marine Corps into the "Civilian World" (as we call it).
Transitioning is a very exciting time for Marines but it also is very difficult time due to the strong
language community that we belong to. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So let us start with the basic acronyms used mostly by the enlisted Marines. PFT which stand for
Physical Fitness Test; which consists of 3 different exercises, One Hundred crunches in two minutes,
three mile run in thirty minutes or less, and twenty pull ups. GCSS, which stands for Global Combat
System Services. That is a program where we order parts and induct vehicles into maintenance.
Now, the officers tend to use a lot more acronyms for lots of things such as OCS, which stands for
Officer Candidate School. When Helicopters have to land for any sort of reason they have to land on
an "LZ" that stands for landing zone. They also use the term ASP which stands for Ammo Supply
Point. Acronyms are very important to the Marine Corps and are used in a variety of different ways.
When Marines transition into the "Civilian World" they will have to use less acronyms which may
be a little difficult. But with time they will be able to speak the civilian language fluently.
Marines tend use different words to describe everyday items used by the average Civilian. For
example, a hat would be considered a "cover". Depending on what kind of boots you wear, they
could either be considered "Jungle Boots" or "Moon Boots". Jungle boots have two holes on the
inside of the boot near the arch of the foot so that if you were to be in a jungle–like situation and
there was water in your boots, the water could drain out through the

marine wildlife and plants. I choose this career path because i've always been fascinated with the
water. There's so much we don't know about the ocean and it would be amazing to be able to
discover a new fish or something about the water we've never know. It is important to understand
the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered and the
duties for a particular career when making this decision. There are many locations i could work at as
long as it's on the coast. Marine biologist can work in offices and laboratories, but may also work on
boats, at sea, or in isolated coastal areas in all weather conditions. The work hours are the same as
any other business, but that can change when you are doing field work. You can end up working all
night if your experiment or job at that time requires that. The location of this job is world–wide you
can find this job anywhere on a coast. "A marine biologist might be a biological technician,
ichthyologist, fishery biologist, marine mammalogist, microbiologist, systems analyst, or a
mathematician". Duties of this job is kinda just like a scientist. You'll be studying animals in
different habitats and different plant species, write reports and scientific papers over your
discoveries. Theres other things to like going to zoos and aquariums seeing how they take care of

biologist is the job for you. As a marine biologist you will need to have several years of schooling in
order to have a successful career. Being a marine biologist can be an enjoyable and dangerous job,
but the journey is worth the ride. Several people ask what is a marine biologist? There are various
answers to this question. The best answer shall be that a marine biologist is someone who works in
some way in studying, observing, protecting, or managing marine organisms, be they microbe, plant
or animal. Marine Biologists study the origins, behaviours, diseases, genetics and the life processes
of animals and wildlife of the marine environment. Some marine biologists specialize in wildlife
research and management, including the collection and analysis of biological data to determine the
environmental effects of present and potential use of land and water areas (Marine Biology).
Becoming a marine biologist can be pretty difficult. Marine biologist will need to take several
biology classes; but you will also need a fantastic understanding of science in general. You will need
to take classes such as chemistry and physics. Mathematics will also be required, at least up to

Essay On Marine Pollution
Pollution is introduced into our oceans by humans both indirectly and directly or by substances of
energy. Not only does this pollution affect our oceans and all sea life, but it also affects the
consumers of sea–food. Ultimately what we put into our oceans goes into what is collected and
eaten out of the ocean. It is a vicious cycle that we have brought upon ourselves. Luckily, there are
big advancements in technology that are helping and problem–solving ways that we can reduce the
amount of pollution already in our oceans and seas. The investigations indicate that these new
technologies will help clean up our plastic pollution, save endangered marine life and contributing
to climate change. The new technologies will help to help track ... Show more content on

All of these sources comeback to causing health problems in humans, harming the marine life and
our oceans and seas. Other big factors of marine pollution are oil, such as off land, sea
transportation, and the big oil industries. Marine transportation can cause up to 45% of the oils
going into the oceans and 32% come from the big oil industries. Activities at sea causing pollution
come from sea transportation, marine resource exploitation as in the removal of marine living
resources and overfishing.
Solid waste is the next big topic of pollutants going into our oceans. These toxic pollutants are
responsible for killing 100,000 marine mammals and 2 million seabirds. Examples of this toxic
pollutants are the plastic waste that we see floating in the oceans and seas. There are about 46,000
pieces of plastics per square mile on the surface waters of the North East United States coast,
according to the National Environmental Planning agency. The impact of this pollutant will be in
our oceans long after we are gone. It will take a single plastic water bottle 400 years to degrade in
the water as well as well as something as small as the 6 pack rings that pop cans are in. With this
being said there is a species of fish that have adapted to living in these harsh toxic polluted waters.
Researchers said that the toxins they are living in would

70% of Earth is covered by ocean and only a small fraction of that has been explored. Marine
biology is the science of the ocean. Marine biologists study all kind of ocean animals from weighing
several tons to being microscopic. Marine biologists help save the ocean and discover it at the same
time.
Marine biology is the study of ocean life. Marine biologists study all kinds of animals from tiny
crustaceans such as the hermit crab to huge mammals such as the blue whale. Marine biology has
been around for a very very long time. According to the article "Marine Biology," "The study of
marine biology dates back to Aristotle (384–322 BC), who made many observations of life in the
sea around Lesbos, laying the foundation for many future discoveries." In 1776 Samuel Gmelin
published the Historia Fucorum, the first book specifically about marine algae. This book marked a
new chapter in marine biology research books by being the first book specifically focusing on
microorganisms. There are many different ways that marine biologists do research such as taking
samples, watching the animals in the wild, seeing what they eat, tracking them, and many other
methods. They usually take samples directly from the animal's body such as a fin from a tarpon or a
tooth from a shark. They also could take samples of the animals feces to find out what the animal is
eating. Another way they can find out more about the animal they are researching is to watch the
animals in the wild.

Marine Pollution
Marine pollution occurs when humans or waste substances are placed into the marine environment
resulting in harm to animals and human health. About 1.4 billion pounds of trash is dumped and left
per year. It may also often come from nonpoint sources such as wind blown debris and
agricultural/land runoff. The trash left like plastic, bottle caps, or even the tiniest bit of garbage
creates a huge disaster.
Marine Pollution Causes (Rowser) Our polluted oceans have become one of the biggest world
problems. Most marine pollution starts on land and then is taken into the water. Marine pollution
also known as, Ocean Pollution, spreads many harmful and toxic materials into the ocean. By
placing any waste, toxic chemicals, oil, etc on land or in water, humans and animals are put in
danger. Marine pollution presents threats to animal and human population; this paper will analyze
the worst of these threats and offer a better outcome. Pollution of this kind is caused by numerous
issues from careless humans on the beach, or oil spills from factories and such. According to
National Geographic,
Many ocean pollutants are released into the environment far upstream from coastlines. Nitrogen–
rich fertilizers applied by farmers inland, for example, end up in local streams, rivers, and
groundwater and are eventually deposited in estuaries, bays, and deltas. These excess nutrients can
spawn massive blooms of algae that rob the water of oxygen, leaving areas where little or no marine

What have you learnt so far?
In marine biology this year we have covered many topics. We began the by learning to snorkel
safely, in this topic we spent a couple of weeks learning the correct techniques and safety measures
to snorkel safely. During this time, we went on many trips out of school to go on dives as a group to
practice our skills for the final practical examination. After completing the snorkelling component of
the marine biology course we went on to learn about how to maintain a temperate marine aquarium.
In this topic we firstly learnt how to set up a temperate marine aquarium, then went fishing to fil our
tanks. Once these tasks where completed we learnt about all of the step needed to ensure that the
aquarium was successful in keeping the marine animals alive, this included learning about the pump
system, how to clean the tank and how to do the various chemical tests to see if the water was in a
suitable condition for the animals to live in. after learning about how to maintain a temperate
aquarium we looked into local marine issues such as seals in the Coorong and local sharks.

My goals for my education are to graduate high school and go to college and study either to be a
medical assistant or a marine biologist. I heard in many cases that a marine biologist is a really cool
career to be in because you get to study sea creatures or even bigger ocean animals ,which I like to
know where the sea creatures came from and how they live every day under the water and what they
eat, however I also would like to be a medical assistant . Being a medical assistant is like being the
right hand to the doctor , there job is to guide the patients to the room that they will be in and take
their blood pressure check their heartbeat and also ask the patients if they have anything going on or
if anything is hurting and then record it down and call in the doctor to come check up on you.
Another thing they do is take out your blood and test it to see if anything is wrong . My choice to be
a marine biologist or a medical assistant is still very indecisive, but realizing that i'm in my last year
of high school, and will be starting college soon, I must choose one and study it well and get a

Becoming A Marine
I chose to make my career as a US marine because I think it would be a fun job where you get to
challenge yourself and be the "good–guy". I chose the Marines in particular because they receive
more training and their more battle ready than the Army.
To become a Marine there are certain job task, special skills, and talents that you will need. You
need to have: loyalty, respect, personal courage, selfless service, teamwork, integrity, honor, and lots
of determination. You need to be a person willing to put your life on the line to help people or your

Essay On Navajo Marines
Without the Navajo, Marines would be disastrous Last Month, The Navajos finally revealed that
they spoke a secret language that helped communicate during WW2. The Navajos was an important
necessity to the Marines, for they had a complex language system. Navajo had difficult
pronunciation, little to no grammar rules, and the difficulty of translating to another language, and
Iwo Jima was the war that leads the military to victory. Before getting into the Navajo Division,
Joseph Bruchac, an underaged teen who successfully joined the marines says with adrenaline that "I

While there, marines were guarding against the Japanese and the Navajos were receiving messages
from the Japanese and quickly they contacted the marines that kamikazes will come down. The
quick thinking helps the Navajos reduced the number of casualties. Unlike English, Navajo has few
to no grammar and has a hard pronunciation. Navajo is also rare as there are less than 330,000
speakers after we won the war. This makes the language "Navajo" the perfect code language. Unlike
other Indian languages, there is no grammar in Navajo. Japanese cannot decode languages like this.
In addition, the language is the most complicated, hard to translate language. Recently during the
war, Japanese had suicide bombers called "Kamikazes". If you were to translate Kamikazes from
Navajo to English, it would become "Flying Chicken". A boy serving in WW2 dubbed "Georgia
Boy" reluctantly said that "Because of this near impossible, unrelated translation, the Japanese
couldn't figure it out." The Navajos was an critical asset to the Marines, for they had hard

difficulty of translating to another language. Because wars start, Navajo was chosen not only for

Marine Biologist
Marine Biologists study many different organisms in their natural habitats. Often may they study or
investigate a population's behaviors. They also may assess the conditions of the habitats or the effect
of a human's activity on the habitat or the animal itself. Some of the Marine Biologist's research may
include conducting species inventories, testing or monitoring the sea creatures that have been
exposed to pollutants, collecting and test some ocean samples, preserving some specimens, or any
sample of unknown species or diseases, and mapping the distribution, ranges, or the movements of
any marine population. In some cases, they may recommend some alternative industrial practices to
minimize the negative effects on the marine species and/or habitats. They communicate their
findings and the recommendations by writing some reports and also some scientific journal artifacts.

Marine Biologist Research
As already mentioned in the previous paragraph, marine biology is basically the study of organisms
or creatures that live in the ocean or in saltwater environments. Though the education of marine
animals is a big part of marine biology, the study of their habitats and ecological environments is
another part of this job. While marine biologists study the ocean and its inhabitants, they can learn
many things about humans and are able to find the cures to many diseases and sicknesses by
studying and extracting ocean plant life and conducting examinations of marine animals. An
experiment on sea urchin eggs determined how chemical substances can have an influence on the

Marine Patrol Policing
Marine patrol policing has been around for many years patrolling the waterways, it is one of the
oldest patrol strategies (Ortmeier 2006, p233). The men and women that protect the rivers, lakes,
canals and harbors may go by boat unit, water police, river police, maritime police and the United
States Coast Guard. Just as one might see local and state police patrolling the streets and highways
the waterways need policing also. They provide access to many ports and inlets that could be used
for illegal activity. Some of this illegal activity can range from weapons and drug smuggling to
human trafficking. Some of the functions and responsibilities of the Marine Patrol Units include

marine patrol can decrease boating intoxicated incidents and lessen the possibility of drowning's.

criminal activity in areas located near water and overall increase water safety and public relations.
The cons of the marine patrol normally involve critical tactical training curriculums in addition to
the regular training required of law enforcement personnel. Sometimes weather condition will not

Marine Pollution Essay
Many people from all over the world visit Australia for its weather, the scenery and its pristine
beaches. Tourism has evolved over the many years and has impacted the way many people see
Australia as a country. One of the most popular holiday destinations within Australia, would be
along the coastline enjoying the pristine beaches, the marine life and seven natural wonders of the
world. One of the most popular holiday destinations in Australia is definitely experiencing what the
coastlines have to offer. Whether it is enjoying the magnificent white sandy beaches, swimming in
the clear blue waters or appreciating the abundant marine life while exploring the Great Barrier Reef
one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Each year over 2 million tourists visit the reef and spend
approximately 5–6 billion dollars while adventuring the great outdoors. To sustain the Australian
coastline as a viable tourist destination, the environmental issue of marine pollution, in particular
plastics need to be addressed. Unfortunately, in today's world we live in a plastic society and as a
result, a large amount of plastic bags and other plastic items are finding their way into the
waterways and ocean impacting on both the marine life and ecosystem. If this environmental issue is
addressed in the present with improvements for the future, it will allow many generations to
continue to enjoy the beauty which Australia has to offer.

Marine Polution : Causes And Consequences Of Marine Pollution
The world population is standing on the front row of the greatest plastic waste tide ever faced. So,
this is an opportunity to learn about the ocean from a big experiment that has already been put in
place by humans. Over the last several decades people have polluted enough of the waters to make it
one of the most controversial topic of the decade. Now we experience evolution in reverse. Marine
pollution is basically the consequences of oceanic destruction which means when hazardous
materials and chemicals enter the ocean or a big body of water and spread to rate of exponential
growth and decrease the lifespan of nearby marine animals. Marine pollution is not just given in the
word itself, but it holds a deeper understanding than most know. Plastic bottles and cigarette buds
are visible to the eye and can be removed by just picking it up, but there is another monstrosity
roaming the oceans called the plastisphere. Which is still a form of marine pollution that very few
understand. The plastisphere are tiny, microscopic plastic pieces that make their way into the ocean
and give microscopic organisms a place to live so to speak. It is still in question whether or not the
impact is good or bad and which outweighs the other. Even small particles like this can have a

The data show that roughly 48,000 square kilometers of China's oceanic territory is seriously
polluted, an increase of 18,300 square kilometers from last year, according to a report by the State
Oceanic Administration of China (SOA). Of the 18 ecological zones monitored by the SOA, 14
were found to have unhealthy levels of pollution. (Moxley, 2011) Generally, as the eastern costal
area of China occupies great amount of its economic production, pollutants mostly come from these
urban and industrial wastes which contain different toxic chemical substances that are pernicious to
the marine flora and fauna. In addition, the excess agricultural fertilizer with nitrogen and
phosphorus could destroy marine organisms' immune system. And it may causes the disease among
species and further lowers reproduction rate. Eventually, with the loss of more species, the ocean
ecosystem will become more unbalanced in years. Another important cause of declining marine
biodiversity is the invasive species. For instance, mytilopsis sallei which originally lives in tropical
South America water regions is now found in the southeast China coast. (Li–jun, Bin, n.d.)
According to the research, its outlook is similar to tiny mussel, and it has a strong ability to adapt in
harsh conditions. Also, it usually gathers together with a high density in some water regions which
could impact the local marine agriculture. Furthermore, it

Project On Marine Pollution
For this project my partner and I will be taking marine debris from the beaches of the Kenai
Peninsula area and making it into something more useful. More specifically, we will be taking
seaglass and making it into jewelry and other decorations. The goal of this project is to reduce the
amount of marine debris found in the ocean and on the beaches. Reducing marine debris is vital to
the economy and ecosystems because it can reduce the number of animal deaths related to marine
debris, and it can reduce the amount of marine debris found in the ocean. If marine debris is reduced
then the ecosystems won't be as polluted. Eighty percent of marine debris is made up of plastic
materials. Marine debris comes from four main sources; land based/personally used items, marine
industries, container ship spills, and natural disasters. Marine animals and birds can mistake marine
debris for food, and if they do swallow/digest the trash then it could lead to internal hemorrhaging,
starvation, and choking to death. They can also become entangled in fishing line, plastic loops, nets,
and ropes. If this happens then it could cause infection in the animals, drowning, and starvation. So,
if the population of a certain species start to decrease, then we would know what was causing it. Our
communities are disposing more and more waste every year. "In 2008, our global plastic
consumption worldwide has been estimated at 260 million tons, and, according to a 2012 report by

Issue Analysis: Marine Debris In an article written by Adam Vaughn for The Guardian, the issue of
marine debris is briefly addressed while a solution to the issue is analyzed. Marine debris can be
commonly known as plastics in the ocean, and Vaughn's article analyzes biodegradable plastics.
While this essay will not analyze biodegradable plastics, solutions to the issue are an important part
of creating a picture of the issue at hand. Marine debris, or plastic in the ocean, is an issue in
consequence to its negative environmental impact. It is not common for this negative environmental
impact to be argued against. It is more common for this negative environmental impact to be ignored
for the sake of human convenience. In one perspective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More importantly both articles also focus on highlighting consumer awareness and alternatives to
plastics. Specifically, both McGlade and the authors of the academic article use context to encourage
consumers to think about plastic, it's necessity, and it's consequence. Another specific point is that
both articles use examples of how plastic impacts marine life. The article written by Vaughn uses the
example of jellyfish and how plastics allow them to broaden their range in the ocean and affect the
food chain of other marine life. The academic article uses the example of marine life ingesting
marine debris causing death within different species. Both of these examples can serve as evidence
to marine debris interfering with the biodiversity of the ocean. As jellyfish disrupt the food chain the
cycle of disrupted food source will continue down the chain as the issue worsens. As marine life
ingests plastics and die–off marine food chains are affected even further. To sum up, both articles
use examples that analyze the issue of marine debris, and both articles turn to the need for change
that can solve the problem. Whether the change be technologies that have real biodegradability or
alternate human behaviour all the writers understand the steps that need to be

However, many fisherman are unable to catch as many fish as they used to, so they are increasingly
using cyanide and dynamite in fishing, which further degrades the coral reef ecosystem.[6] This
perpetuation of bad habits simply leads to the further decline of coral reefs and therefore
perpetuating the problem. One solution to stopping this cycle is to educate the local community
about why conservation of marine spaces that include coral reefs is important.[7] Once the local
communities understand the personal stakes at risk then they will actually fight to preserve the reefs.
Conserving coral reefs has many economic, social, and ecological benefits, not only for the people
who live on these islands, but for people throughout the world as well. Human impact The
deterioration of coral reefs is mainly linked to human activities – 88% of coral reefs are threatened

The Marine Corps Essay
"You will take your place among the most elite warriors on earth. If you have what it takes to make
it" Simple key words that leaves the reader thinking is the most important element in propaganda,
and this quote above does an exemplary job at doing just that. For almost 100 years the United
States of America has done an amazing job at persuading and influencing the hearts and minds of
people around the globe – specifically voluntary recruits. By using so few words and being
ambiguous it leads the reader towards conceptualizing this idea as something they could take on and
image for themselves.
"The Few. The Proud. The Marines". A catch phrase that has taken on a meaning of its own and has
been a part of the Corps since the 1970's when the draft was abolished and they needed recruiting
mechanisms. Aside from the few years they were down prior to 9/11, the Marines' target enrolling

Personal Statement For Marine Biology
Personal Statement
Education has always been an important foundation upon which my family encouraged the most.
Not just the education pertaining to structured schooling, but the fundamentals in life that require
you to interact in society and be a part of something bigger than yourself. They demonstrated how to
commit to values such as responsibility, motivation, and consistency; and, how to be open–minded
and passionate about the things you believe in. These things all required a sacrifice in various ways.
They always stress how "sometimes you need to give up something to get ahead, or how sometimes
sacrificing the familiar and what you expect from yourself to get the results that you are seeking in
the long run."
The dream of having majored in marine biology is one thing, but to get to have a marine biology
degree is a fifth grader's dream come true. The environment is heading in a rough direction. For
example, ocean acidification is already a problem. The decrease in pH of our ocean acidity is
causing coral reefs to die out–which houses thousands of organisms' homes and food sources. Due
to the contaminants, we release into the natural environment, we are slowly losing ecosystems every
day. Therefore, I want to be the researcher to help save the oceanic life from these horrible
conditions. Also, the career of marine biology can take a person anywhere, from the coasts of the
Bahamas all the way to the depths of the Arctic Ocean. This provides the advantage

Marine Biomes

  • 1. Marine Biomes Marine Biomes Shonda Morton October 20, 2013 SCI/230 Paula Roberts A marine biome is a large aquatic zone that takes up almost 75% of Earth's surface, has a salt concentration around 3%, and is distinguished from other biomes by its physical environment. According to Campbell Essential Biology with Physiology, (2010), the habitats of a marine biome varies depending on the level of the sea that it exists (pp.382). The layers or "zones" that make up the marine biome consist of the pelagic realm, the intertidal zone, the photic zone, the aphotic zone, and the benthic realm. The pelagic realm is the part of the marine biome that includes all open water. (Dickey, Reece, & Simon, 2010) explains "the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Other marine life that exist in this ecosystem prey on other species for food, such as shark, octopus, and larger fish prey on smaller marine life for food. Herbivory is a large part of the marine life, which is the consumption of plant parts or algae by an animal. Phytoplankton, known as algae and other plants of the marine environment is the producer for food of many species living in this ecosystem. The consumer relies directly or indirectly on the output of the producers. A main hazard to this ecosystem caused by humans would be pollution. The acid precipitation, toxic chemicals, and other contaminants are harming the aquatic environment, and it contributes to the dwindling population of species in this ecosystem. According to (Dickey, Reece & Simon, 2010), this human behavior has contributed to the decline in commercial fish species, dying coral reefs, and even the closing of some beaches due to pollution. The abiotic factors present in this ecosystem consist of temperature, light, water, minerals, and air. Majority of organisms living in this aquatic environment require specific temperatures to survive, although temperatures can vary according to the species. Obviously, water is a part of the aquatic environment, and is actually essential to all parts of life. Light plays a major part in the photosynthesis process for many organisms ... • 5. Marine Pollution And Its Effects On The Marine Environment THE EFFECT OF SHIPPING ON THE ENVIRONMENT: Shipping comprises about 90 percent of world trade by volume, contributing approximately twelve percent of the total marine pollution arising from human activities on the ocean. The shipping operations and associated port activities that have been identified as having the greatest potential impact on the marine environment are: Pollution has an effect on: a) Entire marine ecosystems b) Public health c) Our marine resources (fisheries, tourism and shipping costs) Marine pollution can take many forms, such as: Oil spills from routine activities or accidental incidents; Oil poisons marine life, and oil slicks keep sunlight from penetrating the ocean's water, killing plants and damaging the entire marine ecosystem. Disposal of marine debris; Plastics thrown into the sea can stay there for many years and harm marine life. A huge number of marine animals die every year from either ingesting or becoming entangled in plastic trash. Garbage can also threaten ships and raise costs when it becomes trapped on propellers and in seawater intakes. Spills of hazardous materials including chemical and radioactive materials; When released into the oceans, chemicals used in the shipping industry (sometimes referred to as chemical runoff) can cause harm to marine life as well as to maritime workers. Disposal of waste materials and sewage; Sewage contains chemicals that alter the marine environment, causing some marine life to die and other marine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Becoming A Marine Biologist The science of Marine Biology is the study of Marine organisms. Marine Biology is the comprehension about the marine world and provides the process of science. I want to become a Marine Biologist because i want to spend time outdoors by the water, and study different habitats in the ecosystem. This paper will focus on the history, requirements, duties, and job outlook of a Marine Biologist and Oceanographer. History & Background Marine Biology is important for scientists to determine the quality of the marine environment to ensure the water quality is sufficient to sustain a healthy environment. Marine Biology started as early as 1200 BC, when the phoenicians began ocean voyages using celestial navigation. Aristotle identified a variety of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You may also be in a position where will get to gather data about the relationships between the organisms and the environment. The workplace environment is either cold or hot weather in different types of areas in the world. In wet places like the ocean, sea, or even zoos and aquariums. You get to travel to different parts of the world to learn more about the fascinating life under the water. The average salary is $77,630 or $39,700–$124,680 depends on your level of education. Conclusion Overall Marine Biology is important because today the possibilities for ocean exploration are endless. So far, in spite of advanced technology it has been concluded that only 5% of the ocean has actually been explored. We may also face great risks not only to the environment but to our own human health as well. The public has been aware of these dangerous risks and are now taking action and are encouraging other agencies to help take action and promote research. Works Cited: Carson, ... • 13. The Importance Of Marine Conservation Sophie Huggins The role of Marine Protected Areas (MPA's) and why marine conservation is important for saving the ocean for current and future generations. From the air to breathe, water to drink, food to eat, the need for constant medical advances, and to the products that keep us warm, safe, and entertained – all these can come from or be transported by the oceans for human society5. As the oceans cover a large expanse of the earth's surface and are huge ecosystems, our security, economy and survival all require healthy oceans. Whether we live near the coast or far from it, whether we consume seafood or not, life depends on the marine ecosystem. We need to devote more energy into research, monitoring and enforcement of laws in order to increase scientific knowledge, monitor exploitation, protect and prevent degradation and damage to species and their habitats. There are many reasons why the oceans should be conserved and protected. For instance, at any given moment in time, more than 97% of the world's water resides in oceans which means that they make up 99% of liveable space on earth6. The World's oceans provide a sixth of the animal protein that people eat5. More than 8 million tonnes of plastic are dumped into the oceans every year, more than 80 percent of marine plastic litter, comes from land–based sources, such as drink bottles and plastic packaging. The remainder comes from sea–based plastics, such as fishing gear that has been dropped or discarded9. This is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Marines have changed their motos four times through 1805–1850s. Those four motos were; "To the Shores of Tripoli," adopted in 1805; "Fortitude," adopted in 1812; "From the Halls of Montezuma to the Shores of Tripoli," adopted in 1848; and "By Sea and by Land," adopted in the 1850's. Finally sticking with one permanent saying in 1861. "Semper Fidelis" is now the official motto of the United States Marine Corps. Now you might ask, What does that mean? Semper Fidelis is latin and translated to english it means, "Always Faithful." U.S. Marines (active, retired, reserve, and veterans) use an abbreviated verbal ... By whatever name or cliche, commitment is a combination of selfless determination and a relentless dedication to excellence. Marines never give up, never give in, never will fall in second place. Excellence is always the goal in the Marine. And, when their active duty days are over, Marines remain reserve Marines, retired Marines, or Marine veterans. Essay On Marine Pollution In this image we can see a seal laying on the beach but if we look even closer, we will notice that this seal has a plastic ring around its snout, this is caused by pollution. It feels as if the seal has just giving up and it's just accepting to die there. It's almost seems that we can feel the sadness projecting to us. This image makes me think how many aquatic life's must die because of our mistake. I chose this image, so people can see the real damage that we cause when we liter on the beach. Based on this image I would like to focus on 1. Who is getting affected by the marine pollution? 2. What are the real causes of the marine pollution? 3. Why do we need to worry about it? 4. How can we reduce marine pollution? ... The next thing I want to focus on my inquiry is what are the main causes of marine pollution. One of the main causes of marine pollution are plastic, and garbage's. Pollution from the littering that we do from far inland are blown by the wind over long distances and end up in the ocean. These objects can be anything from natural things like dust and sand, to man–made objects such as debris and trash. Most debris, especially plastic debris, cannot decompose and remains suspended in the oceans current for years. Animals can become snagged on the plastic or mistake it for food, slowly killing them over a long period of time. Another cause of marine pollution is that Industrial and agricultural waste are another most common form of wastes that are directly discharged into the oceans, resulting in ocean pollution. The dumping of toxic liquids in the ocean directly affects the marine life as they are considered hazardous and secondly, they raise the temperature of the ocean, known as thermal pollution, as the temperature of these liquids is quite high. Animals and plants that cannot survive at higher temperatures eventually will die. Another problem of marine pollution is land ran off. This occurs when water from rain or flooding flows over the land and into the ocean. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Marine Pollution Essay The world population is living, working, vacationing, increasingly conglomerating along the coasts, and standing on the front row of the greatest, most unprecedented, plastic waste tide ever faced. So, this is an opportunity to learn about the ocean from a big experiment that has already been put in place by humans. Over the last several decades, human activities have so altered the basic chemistry of the seas that they are now experiencing evolution in reverse: a return to the barren primeval waters of hundreds of millions of years ago. Marine pollution is basically the consequences of oceanic destruction which means when hazardous materials and chemicals enter the ocean or a big body of water and spread to rate of exponential growth and decrease the lifespan of nearby marine animals. Marine pollution is not just given in the word itself, but it holds a deeper understanding than most know. Plastic bottles and cigarette buds are visible to the eye and can be removed by just picking it up, but there is another monstrosity roaming the oceans called the plastisphere. Which is still a form of marine pollution that very few understand. The plastisphere are tiny, microscopic plastic pieces that make their way into the ocean and give microbial (relating to or characteristic of a microorganism) squatters a place to take up residence. It is still in question whether or not the impact is good or bad and which outweighs the other. Even small particles like this can have a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Becoming a Marine Biologists The life of Marine animals lies in the hands of scientist who try to study and protect them. From the early years of human life, marine animals have taken a part in the lives of humans as a source of food and everyday uses, but as the years have progressed and humans got curious we have started to study marine animal life and there ecosystems. Marine life has aided us and also it has perished and is still experiencing loses. The marine biology world has helped marine animals and has hurt them, but the controversial issues might actually outweigh the good things marine biologists have done and learned. Marine biology is the study of the interactions of living things in and near the ocean ecosystem.(Cronin). A Greek philosopher named Aristotle was thought to be the first Marine Biologist. He documented and described many forms of marine life. During the Renaissance period, Europeans started to explore the world. At first the exploration was about conquering the new land and traveling to different lands, but over time the explorers became curious about the ocean and what was in it. Soon explorers began to take Naturalist on their explorations to make scientific discovers about the ocean and lands. By the mid eighteen hundreds explorations were being funded solemnly for scientific research. As an alternative to working on boats where specimens could only be collected and preserved (as dead) and long–term observations were impossible, many scientists began to conduct their ... Out of these social groups, comes the greatest fighting force in the World, The Marine Corps. Marines have a very unique language dialog that has been preserved for hundreds of years Unfortunately, there comes a point in time when a Marine must transition out of the Marine Corps into the "Civilian World" (as we call it). Transitioning is a very exciting time for Marines but it also is very difficult time due to the strong language community that we belong to. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So let us start with the basic acronyms used mostly by the enlisted Marines. PFT which stand for Physical Fitness Test; which consists of 3 different exercises, One Hundred crunches in two minutes, three mile run in thirty minutes or less, and twenty pull ups. GCSS, which stands for Global Combat System Services. That is a program where we order parts and induct vehicles into maintenance. Now, the officers tend to use a lot more acronyms for lots of things such as OCS, which stands for Officer Candidate School. When Helicopters have to land for any sort of reason they have to land on an "LZ" that stands for landing zone. They also use the term ASP which stands for Ammo Supply Point. Acronyms are very important to the Marine Corps and are used in a variety of different ways. When Marines transition into the "Civilian World" they will have to use less acronyms which may be a little difficult. But with time they will be able to speak the civilian language fluently. Marines tend use different words to describe everyday items used by the average Civilian. For example, a hat would be considered a "cover". Depending on what kind of boots you wear, they could either be considered "Jungle Boots" or "Moon Boots". Jungle boots have two holes on the inside of the boot near the arch of the foot so that if you were to be in a jungle–like situation and there was water in your boots, the water could drain out through the ... Not only does this pollution affect our oceans and all sea life, but it also affects the consumers of sea–food. Ultimately what we put into our oceans goes into what is collected and eaten out of the ocean. It is a vicious cycle that we have brought upon ourselves. Luckily, there are big advancements in technology that are helping and problem–solving ways that we can reduce the amount of pollution already in our oceans and seas. The investigations indicate that these new technologies will help clean up our plastic pollution, save endangered marine life and contributing to climate change. Other big factors of marine pollution are oil, such as off land, sea transportation, and the big oil industries. Marine transportation can cause up to 45% of the oils going into the oceans and 32% come from the big oil industries. Activities at sea causing pollution come from sea transportation, marine resource exploitation as in the removal of marine living resources and overfishing. Solid waste is the next big topic of pollutants going into our oceans. These toxic pollutants are responsible for killing 100,000 marine mammals and 2 million seabirds. Examples of this toxic pollutants are the plastic waste that we see floating in the oceans and seas. There are about 46,000 pieces of plastics per square mile on the surface waters of the North East United States coast, according to the National Environmental Planning agency. The impact of this pollutant will be in our oceans long after we are gone. It will take a single plastic water bottle 400 years to degrade in the water as well as well as something as small as the 6 pack rings that pop cans are in. Marine biology is the science of the ocean. Marine biologists study all kind of ocean animals from weighing several tons to being microscopic. Marine biologists help save the ocean and discover it at the same time. Marine biology is the study of ocean life. Marine biologists study all kinds of animals from tiny crustaceans such as the hermit crab to huge mammals such as the blue whale. Marine biology has been around for a very very long time. According to the article "Marine Biology," "The study of marine biology dates back to Aristotle (384–322 BC), who made many observations of life in the sea around Lesbos, laying the foundation for many future discoveries." In 1776 Samuel Gmelin published the Historia Fucorum, the first book specifically about marine algae. This book marked a new chapter in marine biology research books by being the first book specifically focusing on microorganisms. There are many different ways that marine biologists do research such as taking samples, watching the animals in the wild, seeing what they eat, tracking them, and many other methods. They usually take samples directly from the animal's body such as a fin from a tarpon or a tooth from a shark. They also could take samples of the animals feces to find out what the animal is eating. Another way they can find out more about the animal they are researching is to watch the animals in the wild. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

About 1.4 billion pounds of trash is dumped and left per year. It may also often come from nonpoint sources such as wind blown debris and agricultural/land runoff. The trash left like plastic, bottle caps, or even the tiniest bit of garbage creates a huge disaster. Marine Pollution Causes (Rowser) Our polluted oceans have become one of the biggest world problems. Most marine pollution starts on land and then is taken into the water. Marine pollution also known as, Ocean Pollution, spreads many harmful and toxic materials into the ocean. By placing any waste, toxic chemicals, oil, etc on land or in water, humans and animals are put in danger. Marine pollution presents threats to animal and human population; this paper will analyze the worst of these threats and offer a better outcome. Pollution of this kind is caused by numerous issues from careless humans on the beach, or oil spills from factories and such. According to National Geographic, Many ocean pollutants are released into the environment far upstream from coastlines. Nitrogen– rich fertilizers applied by farmers inland, for example, end up in local streams, rivers, and groundwater and are eventually deposited in estuaries, bays, and deltas. These excess nutrients can spawn massive blooms of algae that rob the water of oxygen, leaving areas where little or no marine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So, this is an opportunity to learn about the ocean from a big experiment that has already been put in place by humans. Of the 18 ecological zones monitored by the SOA, 14 were found to have unhealthy levels of pollution. (Moxley, 2011) Generally, as the eastern costal area of China occupies great amount of its economic production, pollutants mostly come from these urban and industrial wastes which contain different toxic chemical substances that are pernicious to the marine flora and fauna. In addition, the excess agricultural fertilizer with nitrogen and phosphorus could destroy marine organisms' immune system. • 121. Project On Marine Pollution For this project my partner and I will be taking marine debris from the beaches of the Kenai Peninsula area and making it into something more useful. More specifically, we will be taking seaglass and making it into jewelry and other decorations. The goal of this project is to reduce the amount of marine debris found in the ocean and on the beaches. Reducing marine debris is vital to the economy and ecosystems because it can reduce the number of animal deaths related to marine debris, and it can reduce the amount of marine debris found in the ocean. If marine debris is reduced then the ecosystems won't be as polluted. Eighty percent of marine debris is made up of plastic materials. Marine debris comes from four main sources; land based/personally used items, marine industries, container ship spills, and natural disasters. Marine animals and birds can mistake marine debris for food, and if they do swallow/digest the trash then it could lead to internal hemorrhaging, starvation, and choking to death. They can also become entangled in fishing line, plastic loops, nets, and ropes. If this happens then it could cause infection in the animals, drowning, and starvation. So, if the population of a certain species start to decrease, then we would know what was causing it. Our communities are disposing more and more waste every year. "In 2008, our global plastic consumption worldwide has been estimated at 260 million tons, and, according to a 2012 report by Global Industry Analysts, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 125. Marine Debris Issue Analysis: Marine Debris In an article written by Adam Vaughn for The Guardian, the issue of marine debris is briefly addressed while a solution to the issue is analyzed. Marine debris can be commonly known as plastics in the ocean, and Vaughn's article analyzes biodegradable plastics. While this essay will not analyze biodegradable plastics, solutions to the issue are an important part of creating a picture of the issue at hand. Marine debris, or plastic in the ocean, is an issue in consequence to its negative environmental impact. It is not common for this negative environmental impact to be argued against. It is more common for this negative environmental impact to be ignored for the sake of human convenience. In one perspective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... More importantly both articles also focus on highlighting consumer awareness and alternatives to plastics. Specifically, both McGlade and the authors of the academic article use context to encourage consumers to think about plastic, it's necessity, and it's consequence. Another specific point is that both articles use examples of how plastic impacts marine life. The article written by Vaughn uses the example of jellyfish and how plastics allow them to broaden their range in the ocean and affect the food chain of other marine life. The academic article uses the example of marine life ingesting marine debris causing death within different species. Both of these examples can serve as evidence to marine debris interfering with the biodiversity of the ocean. As jellyfish disrupt the food chain the cycle of disrupted food source will continue down the chain as the issue worsens. As marine life ingests plastics and die–off marine food chains are affected even further. To sum up, both articles use examples that analyze the issue of marine debris, and both articles turn to the need for change that can solve the problem. Whether the change be technologies that have real biodegradability or alternate human behaviour all the writers understand the steps that need to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, many fisherman are unable to catch as many fish as they used to, so they are increasingly using cyanide and dynamite in fishing, which further degrades the coral reef ecosystem.[6] This perpetuation of bad habits simply leads to the further decline of coral reefs and therefore perpetuating the problem. One solution to stopping this cycle is to educate the local community about why conservation of marine spaces that include coral reefs is important.[7] Once the local communities understand the personal stakes at risk then they will actually fight to preserve the reefs. Conserving coral reefs has many economic, social, and ecological benefits, not only for the people who live on these islands, but for people throughout the world as well. Human impact The deterioration of coral reefs is mainly linked to human activities – 88% of coral reefs are threatened through various reasons as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If i was to enter a science field for a career, these are the 3 fields i would be mostly interested in. All of my life i had been fascinated with the ocean so i would highly consider going into marine biology. Marine Biology is the study of all plants and animals that live in the ocean. Marine Biologists study a wide range of organisms that varies from Whales and Dolphins to single celled plankton and sea grass. They can also study specific things like a single species of fish or all the fish that live in different ecosystems. Marine Biology also has many places you could work at. Engineering is using math and science to improve modern machines, technology, and structures and to invent, design, and build new things. Engineering has a very wide range of very specific fields. You could work as an aerospace engineer which is when you design and work on airplanes, a hardware engineer who design and test various computer equipment, or even a paper engineer who design and test an array of paper products. Other engineering fields include plastic engineering, river engineering, automotive engineering, and combat engineering ; just to name a couple of them. When it comes time when you pick what field you want to be in, the possibilities are almost endless because there are so many specific fields and careers. The ones that interest me most are ocean engineering which is the design of structures in the ocean, automotive engineering which is the design and testing of road vehicles, and metallurgical engineering which is the study of metals and putting them to use. If you have what it takes to make it" Simple key words that leaves the reader thinking is the most important element in propaganda, and this quote above does an exemplary job at doing just that. For almost 100 years the United States of America has done an amazing job at persuading and influencing the hearts and minds of people around the globe – specifically voluntary recruits. By using so few words and being ambiguous it leads the reader towards conceptualizing this idea as something they could take on and image for themselves. "The Few. The Proud. The Marines". A catch phrase that has taken on a meaning of its own and has been a part of the Corps since the 1970's when the draft was abolished and they needed recruiting mechanisms. Aside from the few years they were down prior to 9/11, the Marines' target enrolling goal has always surpassed their yearly limit (Dao, 2014). The Marine Corps are an interesting sector of the military, from a simple google search it was found to be viewed as the most prestigious and elite group of the U.S. military. Throughout this essay there will be an in–depth analysis on the specific advertisement I have chosen as well as answering some questions that have come up over the course of my research. These questions are: how does the Marine Corps distinguish themselves so much from other military strands? Also, how can the Marine Corps influence the population to join for ... Not just the education pertaining to structured schooling, but the fundamentals in life that require you to interact in society and be a part of something bigger than yourself. They demonstrated how to commit to values such as responsibility, motivation, and consistency; and, how to be open–minded and passionate about the things you believe in. These things all required a sacrifice in various ways. They always stress how "sometimes you need to give up something to get ahead, or how sometimes sacrificing the familiar and what you expect from yourself to get the results that you are seeking in the long run." The dream of having majored in marine biology is one thing, but to get to have a marine biology degree is a fifth grader's dream come true. The environment is heading in a rough direction. For example, ocean acidification is already a problem. The decrease in pH of our ocean acidity is causing coral reefs to die out–which houses thousands of organisms' homes and food sources. Due to the contaminants, we release into the natural environment, we are slowly losing ecosystems every day. Therefore, I want to be the researcher to help save the oceanic life from these horrible conditions. Also, the career of marine biology can take a person anywhere, from the coasts of the Bahamas all the way to the depths of the Arctic Ocean. This provides the advantage ...
