Marine Agriculture aims to sustainably produce phytoplankton on land as a renewable resource. Phytoplankton can be used as feed, food, and to produce products like oils, proteins and biofuels. It only requires seawater, minerals, sunlight and CO2. Producing phytoplankton this way could help meet global resource needs in a sustainable way and mitigate climate change by absorbing CO2. The technology uses modular bioreactors that can be scaled up or down and uses recycled materials. The goal is to establish global leadership in industrial phytoplankton production and change paradigms about global resource availability.

Explanation of Marine Agriculture
Agriculture provided the means for the development of sustainable societies,
states, trade and arts, starting about 10,000 years ago. Only 150 years ago, the
development of societies accelerated, when mineral oil provided more energy
and products. However, fossil reserves are not renewable, their burning
caused global warming and we currently face a consumption rate of resources
by a minor fraction of humanity, that requires 3 earths to be sustainable.
The marine system (the oceans) cover 2/3 of our planet. All life in the oceans
is solely dependent on the food and products produced by microscopically
small plants: the phytoplankton. It takes about 12 years to renew all the plant
biomass on land, but only about a week to renew all plants of the ocean. Ma-
rine Agriculture shall produce phytoplankton profitable on land without using
freshwater, in dedicated production systems.
Products of Marine Agriculture are phytoplankton (feed & food), derived prod-
ucts from it (omega-3 oils, pigments, plant proteins, nutraceuticals, pharma-
ceuticals, bio diesel), or organisms grown on phytoplankton and their deriva-
tives (e.g., chitin, chitosan, glucosamin, pigments, oils). Marine Agriculture is
sustainable for ever, even the technology can be fully recycled. It only needs
land (desert), salt water, sunlight, minerals and enormous amounts of carbon
dioxide. With this innovative platform any arid region on this earth has the po-
tential to contribute significantly to the furthering of all human societies in a
just, fair and sustainable way and as side effect, mitigates global warming.

The objective is to realize the Marine Agriculture, which
Implements the following capabilities :
industrial production of marine phytoplankton,
development, marketing and sales of products made from phytoplankton directly (fresh,
dried, processed or extracted),
or from invertebrate organisms that can be grown on phytoplankton,
generating products for various markets: feed, food, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, fine
chemicals, polymers, bio energy, carbon dioxide trade
And is characterized by:
using pure phytoplankton species, preferentially locally isolated species,
exclusive use of salt water,
a sustainable (i.e. recycling) technology,
development of derived technologies (spin-off)
a modular technology, with a characteristic fast up- and down-scalability
a scale of operation with relevance for global carbon fixation
Using education to help secure future human resources for Marine Agricul-
ture:
by developing scholar curricula or informative documents,
by actively seeking cooperation with local universities and scouting of talents world wide
Leading to:
a long lasting successful and globally leading position in marine agriculture in general, and
in the production of marine phytoplankton in particular,
a change in paradigm of global resource availability for feed, food and organic chemicals,
including bio-fuels.
The central business activity of Marine Agriculture is based on the idea to produce marine phytoplankton on land in a con-
trolled environment (bioreactor), which leads to the production of phytoplankton biomass as a new resource for existing
and novel products. Marketing & sales, Ecological technologies and (classical) marine biotechnology complement the
core activities of Marine Agriculture.
The basic innovation of the production is based on the application of bioreactors, that can be recycled, arranged in modu-
lar units, which immensely improves the quality of the product, the stability of the process and which allows an economi-
cally sound production.
