JOSHUA1:9
SANTAROSADECOPAN,HONDURAS
How great is our God? The world
He created, the man He made in His
image. He saved us from sin and
death by sacrificing His only Son.
"I know my plans for you, says the
Lord."
I walk down these cobblestone
streets everday, I walk under the
shadow of the 4oo year old
Cathedral, I pass by two beggars on
the way, I walk past a noisy school
that is full of children chattering
away, I walk and see.
I am learning to walk and pray. I
pray for the men and women who
feel hopeless in a religion that only
knows shame, I pray for the two
beggars knowing that if I did give
them money that I would just be
enabling them and not helping, I
pray for the noisy school knowing
that they are the future leaders of
Honduras, I walk and pray.
My prayer has changed, but now
seeing the results that the Lord is
moving and working among these
people gives me faith. I have ever
been a doubting Thomas but even
Thomas upon seeing the hands and
feet of Jesus bowed before the King
of every tribe and nation.
You and I serve that King, the one
King who has and is conquering the
world and He is doing so not by
gaining land or fortune, He is using
people like you and me to share...
love.
One evening in March the Church
held a wedding for a couple that
had recently become Christians.
It is not usual for a Honduran
couple to move forward with a
marriage. The typical
arrangement is called a
Free-Union where they can freely
leave a a relationship without
Legal entanglements.
This woman had
been with this
man for almost
10 years and
they have 3
children
together.
This wedding was
really special to me
because I knew that the
bride's dreams were being
realized. Not many Honduran
women have a wedding in their
lifetime.
Getting to know the young girls
here has taught me that they still
desire to have a wedding and
marry their Prince Charming.
The bride looked beautiful in a
simple white gown and she was
glowing with pride next to her
husband.
Many Hondurans came to this
wedding held at the
Church. Some began to
cry as the vows were
being read. This is
something hardly
seen in this culture.
Mission UpReach is
trying to leave a lasting
impact that includes
Christian values taught in
Schools, Financial Security in
families, and that every couple in
the Church is married with the
Lord?s blessing.
We truly believe that change in a
community can only be
accomplished through the Church.

MIssion UpReach has relaunched a new website
and a "new look" for their logo.
I have heard about how the Mission started off as
a dream and how the Lord blessed that dream.
The more people know about this work, the better.
Our main focus here is to plant Churches, these
Churches are autonomous and self-reliant. Their
have been five congregations planted within three
years.
The groups or Brigades that come down help us
serve the community by constructing simple
concrete Church buildings, and also in serving
through Medical and VBSBrigades.
Evangelizing to the community has been widely
and openly recieved. We are talking about
generations of people who have not heard the
Gospel. A whole world of people who do know
Jesus. What a blessing it is to serve with this
Mission.
(If you are on your computer you should be able to see more
pictures if you hold your mouse over the picture.)
We decided earlier this year that
we wanted to reach out and
evangelize not just to the college
aged who can speak English, but
also to those who only speak
Spanish. We have become
comfortable enough in our
Spanish in that we now feel
confident conversing and sharing
in Spanish.
We had our first Spanish Bible
study in the basement of the boys
house. We got a ping pong table
and a couple of chairs and tables.
We also made song books and
purchased some Bibles. We have
had five different people come to
the study. Again from experience
with La Taza, God is in the small
things so that He may grow it
into something bigger.

In May we will be getting six more AIMers!! Three boys and three girls
from the 2014 AIM class. Us girls, Jami, Kristin, and I had been living in an
apartment; but with three more girls coming we need more room!! In the
neighborhood where we live, a new house was available for rent and so
we called the owner and now we have a three bedroom, three bathroom
house!! Plenty of space for the AIM girls and future visitors.
We packed our belongings and with the AIM boys help, we moved in
during Semana Santa. We are only four houses down from the boy's house
and next month the Waldron family will be moving two houses up from
us. The security guard jokes that this is "Gringo Central".
We have had three nights of the
Spanish study and we start off
with a prayer, some songs, a
devo, and then we play some
cards and talk. Building a
trusting and lasting relationships
is key, and we are praying that
God grows this work.
Please join me with this prayer as
well!!

Coffee Shop is going well, now
that school has started (they
begin their school year in the
summer) we have lost a couple
of our students. But we are still
in contact with them.
I have been having a lot of
coffee as I am talking with two
girls from the University here.
Ealier this year, the Los AIMers
got to help the students taking
English classes at the
Universities. Back then our
Spanish was not all that great
and their English was not all
that great. But we kept coming
trying to build relationships
with them.
I have met two really sweet
girls by the name of Ingrid and
Glendy. Both of these girls have
come a long way in their
English. Glendy has come to
Church twice now and has also
visited the Coffee Shop. The
girls and I have studied with
her.
The boys have met several
young men who have been
coming to the Coffee Shop.
Drinking coffee and sharing
God's Word, I don't know if
there is a better comination.

SEMANASANTA-HOLYWEEK
Three weeks ago Santa Rosa and all
of Latin America celebrated Holy
Week (Easter Week).
It is a huge holiday here in
Honduras, everything shuts down
for a week where they have
festivals in the town square, dances,
parades, and shows. It was a huge
display of culture and I had not
seen anything this big since the
World Cup last summer.
On Good Friday, all of downtown
was closed so that they could put up
the saw dust art. They dye saw dust
different colors and make designs
about the Death and Resurrection
of Jesus. Old families have had
certain sections for generations
with their own unique design.
A Catholic procession came and
walked up and down the streets,
symbolizing New Life on Friday
afternoon.
