Welcome to Calvary
July 6, 2014
Fourth Sunday After Pentecost
“For John came neither eating nor
drinking, and they say, 'He has a
demon.’ The Son of Man came
eating and drinking, and they say,
'Look, a glutton and a winebibber,
a friend of tax collectors and
sinners!' But wisdom is justified by
her children.”
Matthew 11:18-19
Who said to Jesus in the synagogue in Capernaum,
“I know who you are – the Holy One of God!”
___________
Bible Quiz
Hint: The answer can be found in the book of Luke.
There are Bibles in the pew racks
Write your answer and your name on a piece of paper and
drop it in the Bible Quiz box in the rear of the sanctuary. A
winner will be drawn each week from all the correct
answers submitted. The previous week’s winner’s name
will appear on a slide each week, and who knows, you
might even get a surprise!
an unclean spirit, a demon, Luke 4:33-34
Season of Thanks
During the season of Pentecost, Calvary will be giving thanks for its past;
its present; its future. We will be thanking groups and individuals and
most of all God for the blessings bestowed on Calvary Evangelical
Lutheran Church. We are calling this a Season of Thanks!
During this Season of Thanks each of us, daily, need to remember things
and people for which and whom we are thankful. Even on those days
when everything seems to be falling apart… we can be thankful that
God is there to catch us and protect us …. just like God always does!

Reminder – Don’t Forget
Your Name Tag
Not everyone remembers your name. We encourage
everyone to wear their name tags. It helps not only
our visitors, but all of us to put a name to a face.
Stewardship
What God has entrusted to our care
Next, we look in to discover all of the
resources that God has entrusted to
our care. God loved us so much that
God gave each of us varying talents,
time, money, and stuff. We each have
resources that we can use to love God
and our neighbor. We need only to
look in to discover the abundance that
God has entrusted to us. God has given each of us talents and time. As
Peter writes, “Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve
one another with whatever gift each of you has received” (1 Peter 4:10).
We each have unique gifts and talents that we can use. God has also
blessed us with time. We lead very busy lives, but we seldom reflect on
how we are using this time. How might God be calling us, both as
individuals and as a congregation, to use our time and our unique gifts
to love God and our neighbors?
