Creating Equal Cost Groups for Trauma Patients in Hospitals in Israel Salford Systems
The document discusses using decision tree models to classify trauma patients into groups based on expected resource use and costs. It finds that models built on actual costs and an alternative "costdays" measure produce similar results. The models perform well in predicting costs for new patients and removing outliers improves accuracy. While costs may shift over time, the models represent progress toward a fair prospective payment system for trauma care.
This document contains summaries of issues raised at various Fort Hamilton conferences and meetings between 2011 and 2012. Key issues included a lack of equal benefits for Gold Star Parents compared to other military families, the need for preferential hiring status for next of kin, a lack of recreational activities for teens on post, problems with enforcement of housing rules, a desire for an outdoor running track, improving recycling programs, providing energy conservation training, enhancing emergency notification systems, ensuring priority lodging for military families, addressing workforce reductions, making BAH rates more reflective of local housing costs, establishing an appropriate after-hours community center for soldiers, and facilitating cross-training between military and civilian personnel in different directorates. Recommendations were provided to address each issue.

A Study of RandomForests Learning Mechanism with Application to the Identific...Salford Systems
This document describes a study using random forests to identify informative gene interactions in microarray data. It discusses how random forests work, how they can be used to detect bivariate gene interactions, and how data augmentation can help overcome issues with high dimensionality and small sample sizes. The method is then applied to a colon cancer microarray dataset to uncover some weak marginal but strong bivariate gene interactions associated with the phenotype. Future extensions and improvements to the approach are also proposed.
Salford Systems offers several products for data mining and predictive modeling. The table compares features of their Basic, Pro, ProEx, and Ultra components. The Basic component includes basic modeling, reporting, and automation features. Pro adds additional modeling engines and missing data handling capabilities. ProEx further expands the supported modeling techniques and automations. Ultra provides the most extensive set of features, including additional modeling pipelines, ensemble methods, and tree-based algorithms.
Comparison of statistical methods commonly used in predictive modelingSalford Systems
This document compares four statistical methods commonly used in predictive modelling: Logistic Multiple Regression (LMR), Principal Component Regression (PCR), Classification and Regression Tree analysis (CART), and Multivariate Adaptive Regression Splines (MARS). It applies these methods to two ecological data sets to test their accuracy, reliability, ease of use, and implementation in a geographic information system (GIS). The results show that independent data is needed to validate models, and that MARS and CART achieved the best prediction success, although CART models became too complex for cartographic purposes with a large number of data points.
Combining Linear and Non Linear Modeling Techniques Salford Systems
This document discusses how EMB America and Salford Systems can leverage their combined strengths in predictive modeling for the insurance industry. EMB specializes in insurance predictive modeling applications using their EMBLEM tool, while Salford Systems provides tree-based modeling techniques. The document outlines case studies where they have used both EMBLEM and CART (Classification and Regression Trees) models to identify important factors, interactions, and segments in large insurance datasets. Combining the approaches helped reduce modeling time and improve predictive performance for applications like customer retention modeling.
Applied Multivariable Modeling in Public Health: Use of CART and Logistic Reg...Salford Systems
This document discusses using logistic regression and classification and regression tree (CART) analysis to develop models for predicting undiagnosed HIV infection. The models were developed using data from over 10,000 patients. Logistic regression was used to create the Denver HIV Risk Score based on demographics, sexual behaviors, and other risk factors. CART analysis was then used to develop a decision tree to classify patients into risk groups. Both methods showed good ability to predict undiagnosed HIV. Future work includes external validation of the decision tree and comparing screening approaches.
Predicting Hospital Readmission Using TreeNetSalford Systems
This document discusses using a TreeNet model to predict hospital readmissions using data from electronic medical records (EMRs). It provides an overview of the dataset used, which includes over 1,000 clinical and administrative variables for 1,612 heart failure patients. The document describes how TreeNet was used to create a predictive model from the EMR data, including feature selection and parameter tuning. It also discusses evaluating the model, assessing variable importance, and exploring model results to gain clinical insights. The goal is to develop an accurate model that can help reduce the risk of avoidable hospital readmissions.

8. Our Purpose: Survivor Outreach Services (SOS) is an Army Community Service program designed to provide short-term and
long-term support to the Survivors of Soldiers who die while on active duty.
Our Vision: Compassionate and determined outreach to Survivors.
Our Goal: To be intentional yet noninvasive in extending the hand of support to the Survivors of fallen Soldiers at their point of
need with meaningful programs and caring counsel resulting in Survivor Families knowing that others are concerned for their well
being during their journey through grief.
What We Do…
Facilitate support groups where Families and individuals can share feelings, burdens, thoughts, resources and
information in a safe and understand setting.
Provide care for Survivor Families beyond what Casualty Officers and Unit Care Teams can offer.
Offer on site financial counseling to assist Families in adjusting to their unique monetary circumstance following the
loss of a loved one.
