1) Computational Thinking – WHAT, HOW, WHY
2) Block-based Language – HANDS-ON
Before 21st century- you had to understand how computer programs work.
In 21st century, you need to know how to make computers work the way you want.

PROTOTYPING EVERYTHING
We grow up exploring ourselves and our surroundings. We learn how to interact with the community we live in. In our early days it’s ok to ask a lot of questions and to learn by doing and failing. Somewhere along the way we become less inclined to play and test to learn how things work, and it seems like we are supposed to know everything about what we do (listen to a politician interviewed on telly). A lot of us forget that craft of testing our way forward.
But, there is a global maker movement that is all about trying things out and building prototypes to understand if an idea works and if there’s a market for it. In this session you will learn about how you can prototype everything from business models to technology.

Language & APIs: Building the Robot ApocalypseEmma Kriskinans
Have we reached “Peak API”? With the advent of FaaS, Microservices and Serverless, what happens if we take a different perspective on how the API client of tomorrow could look?
Martin Buhr, Founder & CEO of Tyk API Management, takes us on an irreverent journey through the quirkiness of human language, and how that could apply to our understanding, and the future, of APIs. A journey which poses the question: if we’re now building the language of machines, what are the implications?
This talk was first given at API World, San Jose Convention Centre on Wednesday 17 September at 0925 PST (2017).
Looking for an open source API Gateway and Management Platform? Tyk powers millions of transactions a day for organisations such as AXA, Capital One, Trip Advisor, and United Health. Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
