8. Equatorial
• Equatorial regions are found between 5°-10° north
and south latitudes of the equator.
• Temperature:- temperature generally remains high
throughout the year with very less diurnal, seasonal
and annual changes. Average annual temperature
is 30°-35° C.
9. • Hot , wet and humid all the year. No winter
season.
• The equator passes through 13 countries:
Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Sao Tome & Principe,
Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Democratic
Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia,
Maldives, Indonesia and Kiribati.
• Equatorial climate : flood, drought, storm
Climate of equatorial regions:-
14. • Tropical Monsoon: anywhere between 23.5
degree North and South of the Equator.
• Hot , wet and humid throughout the year with
heavy rainfall. No cold season
• Eg: India, Brazil Caribbean islands

of Brazil, West Africa’s Congo Basin and the
rainforests of Malaysia , Africa and Asia,
located between the Tropics of Cancer and
Capricorn, have a tropical climate.

• Between 23.5 and approximately 30
degrees North and South of the Equator. No
cold season and negligible rain.
Eg: Dubai, African Sahara region
Sub-tropical or Desert climate: heat wave,
sand storm

the Equator. Hot dry summer, cool wet winter .
Eg: France , Spain , Argentina and Chile

• Temperate Latitude of the earth lie between
the subtropics and the polar circle Average
yearly temperatures in these regions are not
extreme, not burning hot nor freezing cold.
• Temperate means moderate.
22. • Unlike in the tropics, temperatures can change
greatly here, between summer and Winter. So, most
places with a temperate Climate have four seasons :
summer, autumn , winter and Spring.
• Other areas with a temperate climate can have very
unpredictable weather. One day it may be sunny, the
next may be rainy, and after that it may be cloudy.
