Section 2 – POSITION OUTLINE
• The Manager will work with the Management Committee to co-ordinate the delivery
of services to seniors.
Section 3 – POSITIONS UNDER DIRECT SUPERVISION
1 Community Liaison Officer (full-time)
1 Volunteer Co-ordinator (part-time)
8 Volunteers
Section 4 – DUTIES
General Duties:
1. Ensure the Management Committee are provided with the support, information and expertise
required to effectively meet their responsibilities;
2. Ensure the service runs effectively and efficiently on a day-to-day basis;
3. Be responsible for the development and implementation of administrative and information
systems and the development, maintenance and implementation of theSunshine 60&Better
GroupInc.Policyand ProceduresManual;
4. In conjunction with the Treasurer, be responsible for the financial management of the
organisation including the presentation of a budget and financial reports tothe Management
Committee and tofunding bodies.
Planning and Service Delivery:
1. Assist in the development of an Annual Plan and co-ordinate the activities of the service,
ensuring they are in accordance with the plan.
2. Develop for consideration by the Management Committee appropriate programs and policies
for meeting the needs of members.
3. Develop and deliver education/training programs both within and outside of the organisation.
4. Co-ordinate the delivery of all services.
5. Ensure that appropriate client records and data on services is maintained and that regular
evaluations of client need and service delivery occur.
6. Liaise with other 60 & Better Groups Branches.
7. Periodically review member’s needs.
8. Develop submissions and submit to Management Committee.
9. Submit performance agreements to funding bodies and monthly reports to the Department of
Communities.
Service Evaluation and Accountability
1. Prepare service plans and performance agreements to comply with the Sector funding
and program guidelines.
2. To monitor the effectiveness of the service and record statistical data on service delivery.
3. To keep up to date with current knowledge about seniors and positive, active ageing and
viable models of service delivery.
4. To develop policies and procedures to meet the Department of Communities standards.
Staff and Volunteer Management
1. Advise the Management Committee on matters of employment of staff and volunteers.
2. Ensure that staff and volunteers fulfill the requirements of their position descriptions.
3. Ensure staff entitlements including superannuation and other contractual and legal obligations
are met.
4. Ensure adequate and appropriate supervision, training, support and performance
appraisals are provided to staff.
5. Ensure the provision and maintenance of safe working conditions for all staff.
6. Organise and maintain effective volunteer recruitment programs and individual assessment of
volunteers.
PublicRelations and Fund Raising:
1. Represent the service to Government, other community agencies and the wider community;
2. Co-ordinate the development of appropriate promotional material.
3. Prepare submissions for funding and policy submissions to Government and other bodies and
co-ordinate fund raising activities in consultation with the BranchCommittee.
4. Develop links with relevant organisations to promote greater and more effective co-
ordination of services for the community.
OtherDuties:
1. Provide a written monthly report to the Management Committee on the operations of the
service.
2. Carry out other duties in line with the philosophy and objectives of the organisation and
as directed by the Management Committee.
3. To carry out other duties which are in the competence, training and ability of the
worker.
Section 5 - QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential:
The Manager is required to:
• Bachelor of Social Science
• Commitment to the principles of cultural diversity
• A demonstrated ability to manage a human service organisation including staff
management, administration and financial management skills
• Demonstrated effective advocacy skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work with a Management Committee
• Knowledge of relevant community resources
• A strong motivation and commitment to seniors
• Demonstrated computer skills
• Own motor vehicle, comprehensive insurance and drivers license
• Senior First Aid Certificate
Desirable:
• Qualification in management;
• An understanding and appreciation of the varying models of working with seniors.
• Experience in direct service delivery work with seniors.
• Experience in the development and delivery of education/training programs.
• Experience in public relations work.
