When a person is not getting enough food or not getting the right sort of food, they will become malnourished if the food they eat does not provide the proper amounts of micronutrients - vitamins and minerals - to meet daily nutritional requirements.

- 2. WHAT IS MALNUTRITION ? Lack of proper nutrition, caused by not having enough to eat, not eating enough of the right things, or being unable to use the food that one does eat. “nearly 67% of the country’s population suffers from malnutrition.
- 3. Symptoms of malnutrition Usually self-diagnosable Symptoms are fatigue, dizziness and weight loss. Untreated malnutrition can cause physical or mental disability. People may experience: Developmental: failure to thrive, short stature, or slow growth. Whole body: dizziness, or water-electrolytes imbalance. Muscular: Muscles weakness or loss of muscle Also common: weight loss
- 4. What foods to eat in malnutrition ? Plenty of fruit and vegetables. Plenty of starchy foods such as bread, rice, potatoes. Some milks and dairy foods or non-diary alternatives. Some sources of protein , such as meat, fish, eggs and beans.
