Inter Aide started WASH programs in Lilongwe, Malawi in 1992 that expanded to other districts in Central and Southern Malawi. Since 2002, the programs have focused on maintenance of existing infrastructure. By 2016, the maintenance programs covered 11 of Malawi's 28 districts including Dedza, Lilongwe, Zomba, Chiradzulu, and Mulanje. The programs now collaborate with local partners and have expanded to additional districts.
