An Idea Takes Birth
The year 1983;
My first brush with the World Map
• My brother's world map gave an incredible kick-start to my desire
• I couldn’t sleep; I was living the dream
• Maps sourced from abroad depicted parts of Kashmir in Pakistan
• Though with a disclaimer that it was not accurate
• I was determined to change the practice
• Wanted to make one to Indian government standards

The Journey Begins
My ideas began to crystallize
Maps of India was born 15 years later
• The germ of an idea had now become a plant
• Our India map met Survey of India guidelines
• Its success took us to the "World Map"
• Complete Jammu & Kashmir was now shown as a part of India
• Yes, the first map to show India like it is
• Created a map that was first-of-its kind

The Journey Gets Exciting
100,000 maps old,
we created our own World Map
• Creating physical maps not in our frame of reference
• Ours was a digital products company
• But, the drive to excel was always there
• First, we released a couple of maps in the Indian market
• The intention was to create something unique
• A map that would address audience and solve problems
• In the map, no country was to be numbered
• And each was to have its name next to the location

Thinking Out-of-the-Box Has Become a Habit

• The idea was to relate our maps to a country
• Flags are a nation's pride
• So, we brought flags alongside the map
• We introduced important time zones in the map
• Most maps ignore countries which claim Antarctic
and Arctic, we don't

Maps Are My Passion
I am passionate about maps
but, every great work needs inspiration
• Mine was the World Atlas by Reader's Digest
• It was beautiful and accurate; truly a work of art
• I wanted to create something much more consistent
• Something that would define who I am
• One that would be on every wall
• Be it kid's room, school or business

Making of an Idea
You might say

• Just like every human, Maps, too, Are Different
• Take for instance the Custom Maps
• They are different but everyone can't afford them
• But there is an awesome solution
• We can have hundreds of maps
• This will lessen the need for expensive custom maps

• Over the next decade, we want this map to be IMIA’s own map
• We seek partnerships to take this map to every country in
every language
