Cesar Chavez was a major icon for the Latino community who worked to help farm workers' rights. He was born in 1927 in California and had to quit school at a young age to work to support his family. As an adult, he co-founded the National Farm Workers Association and helped organize farm workers to fight for better wages and working conditions. Through non-violent protests and strikes, he was eventually able to force growers to recognize the union. Cesar Chavez overcame many obstacles and is remembered today through a holiday in several states that honors his work advocating for civil rights and social justice.
