Hinduism
• For Hindus, Varanasi, is one of seven especially holy cities,
which has the power for moksha, or freedom.
• It is also known as Banaras and located on the banks of the
river Ganges in Uttar Pradesh.
• The Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Sankat Mochan Temple
are two of the most visited in the city.
• The annual Ganga Mahotsav celebrates the rich cultural
heritage of India.

Buddhism
• Bodhgaya is one of the four most sacred pilgrimage places for
the Buddhists.
• It is the place where Gautama Buddha have attained
Enlightenment under a Peepal Tree.

Islam
• The 'Dargah Sharif' in Ajmer is considered to be one of the holiest
places in the world by Muslims as well for all other communities.
• Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti was an extremely pious saint who had
devoted himself to alleviating the poor.
• The idea behind him doing this was to educate the masses about
the importance of selfless service.

Sikhism
• The Golden Temple in Amritsar is not only a central religious
place of the Sikhs, but also a symbol of human brotherhood
and equality.
• Guru Nanak Jayanti and Baisakhi are some of the festivals
that are celebrated with great spirituality here.

• Basilica of Bom Jesus is the most important pilgrim center
of Christianity.
• It is located in Goa and is one of the oldest churches in
Goa.
