This document provides an overview of magnetic particle testing (MPT) for crack detection. It discusses the theory behind MPT, how it works to detect surface cracks in ferrous materials using magnetic fields and particles, basic MPT procedures for both wet and dry methods, how to interpret MPT results, advantages and limitations of the technique, examples of MPT equipment, competitors' products, and information on one company's MPT oil product called IPOL LTM 105 OIL. The document is intended to introduce MPT and its applications for crack detection.
