By using the clone stamp tool on Photoshop I could get rid of the date for the issue where I took it from, so then I could type in my own for when the magazine would be released. I did my best to get the font and colour as close as possible to the original. I used Myriad Pro bold size 18
Sight and Sound magazine cover logo. I cropped it out from another magazine issue using Photoshop. I also changed the exposure of the logo so it would fit in with the horror theme. (referring to ‘October Horror Special)

The original image of this picture doesn’t given enough of an eerie effect, so one of the ways to improve this was to change the contrast of the masks. By adjusting the exposure of the masks, it gives more of a vibrant and shadowed effect.
Like all Sight and Sound magazine they always add extra notions on the front cover of what is going to be included. As they are not the main focus, the ‘PLUS’ is in a small font. Again I tried to get the font as close as possible to the original. I used Trajan Pro as bold at size 30.
I decided to include three features on the cover of the magazine. Most only do to extra features but as it is a ‘horror special’ I chose to add a feature that would relate to it, (review of ‘filmfest’ and ‘dead by dawn’) horror film festivals. Also, with the other two features, I did a little research to see what will be happening around the time that the magazine will be released. For example the supernatural horror sequel ‘paranormal activity 3’ is planned to be out on October 21 2011. Also Wes Craven, the director of scream 4 (a slasher/horror), is who I put as for a feature interview. I assume that as the film is out in theatres in mid April perhaps the DVD will come out around September/October/November. The font of these features is in Myriad Pro size 24. Like some Sight and Sound magazine covers there are plays on words. For example the August 2009 issue* has a play on the letter of the film title. That is what I added in for Scream 4 – Scre4m as it is what the creator of the film did.
Again here I did the same thing with the other logo for the BFI logo.
As I shot my trailer in daylight, I also did the photo shoot in daylight as well. As the picture stood alone it did look good enough as a horror film for a sight and sound magazine cover. So using Photoshop I change the shadow and exposure of the image to give a more twilight feel.
I chose to make this magazine a special edition because it fitted in with everything. It is an advantage for the promotion of my film. Plus it allowed me to have relevant features. I got the idea from the Sight and Sound August 09 issue where it was a ‘Gangster Special’ to promote the crime/drama film ‘Public Enemies’.
Another image that I cropped from a previous Sight and Sound magazine, it doesn’t always appear on a cover but on most of them they tend to do

This is the reason while I have used Trajan Pro as some of the font on the cover. Since that is the font of the film title (on the poster, the trailer and of course the magazine) it should be able to tie in all together. The font size is 80. Like most of the Sight and Sound magazines, the title is usually big and bold.

In most Sight and Sound magazines (for example issue June 10) usually there is text that leads on the title of the film it’s promoting. In the issue to promote ‘Bad Lieutenant’ this ‘Kitano Keitel, Welles And Nicholas Cage As Werner Herzog’s’. This is just stating the actors names and the director of the film before it leads into the title.

*
Gave me an idea for my magazine coverPlay on the letter S
