1. Magazine Advert Analysis: Green Day
This advent is for the Green Day single album “Wake me up when September
ends”. Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong wrote this song about his
father, who died of cancer on September 1, 1982. At his father's funeral, Billie
cried, ran home and locked himself in his room. When his mother got home and
knocked on the door to Billie's room, Billie simply said, "Wake me up when
September ends," hence the title.
This single is of the rock alternative genre and this can be shown through the
dramatic font and the contrast between the white, black and red of the font. The
band name, “Green Day” is a well-known band within the “rock genre”, so

The feel of the album is that a depression and suffering as shown through the

represent the rock genre and how he feels about this song as well about what it
means to him a good use of anchorage. This helps establish the band as a rock/
alternative band.
2. The font takes up most of the advert with it also working as another drive, Green
Day is an infamous band which most people have herd of thus by putting in big
bold letters “GREEN DAY” people are going to notice it. In addition to this the
dramatic font of when September ends further iterates the drama of this album.
Artist name is in the trademark Green Day font style, different font for Wake Me
Up When September Ends to attract audience’s eye and to compliment the
meaning behind the song.
