Josh Woodburn's film Retribution tries to challenge stereotypes in superhero films by presenting protagonists who are more morally ambiguous and focused on themselves than justice. It uses a low budget of £50 but gripping storytelling and relatable teenage characters to engage audiences. While some viewers felt it fell into other stereotypes or wasn't truly a superhero film, it aims to leave the message open to interpretation and keep audiences thinking. All stunts were performed by the actors themselves without doubles or CGI, adding authenticity. Overall it is a controversial film but still enjoyable to watch both for its entertainment and for examining its messages.
