To whom it may concern,
I worked with Mackenzie as her supervisor in the AmeriCorps AIMS High program at Carrabec High
School in North Anson for 6 months in 2014. During that time, she showed an untiring enthusiasm for her
work, a willingness to contribute to any and all tasks and projects, and a dedication to getting things done
that was inspiring. Whether she is working with students on complicated chemistry assignments or
stuffing envelopes for mass mailings, Mackenzie always brings 100% of her energy to everything she
does.
Mackenzie is reliable. During my time as her supervisor, I could always count on her to show up on time,
or to call me immediately when something unforeseen came up, and her work was always done on time, if
not earlier than expected.
Mackenzie’s versatility also proved her to be a valuable asset to our team. When asked to design a
website for our program, Mackenzie learned what she needed to and got it running in under a week. Her
skills with foreign languages were uniquely useful in working with students taking French or German
classes. Even her knowledge and skill as an agriculturalist proved useful when it came time to implement
a school garden program at the high school.
Members of the AmeriCorps AIMS High program work within high schools that have failed or are failing
national yearly progress standards. The goal of the program is to support school infrastructure while
allowing students to discover their value and experience their power to create meaningful, joyous, and
contributory lives. As part of this work, Mackenzie went through a training called What One Person Can
Do, led by Bill Cummings, founder of the Boothby Institute and contributor to the foundation of the
Upward Bound program. The training focuses on a person’s ability to live life with love and kindness
towards all people, to maintain equanimity under all circumstances, and to be mindful at all times. These
abilities, which Mackenzie seems to have been developing for some time, will prove invaluable in any
position that Mackenzie applies herself to.
I wholeheartedly endorse Mackenzie for any position to which she would apply – she is the type of person
who can hit the ground running, learn anything she needs to, and go above and beyond what is asked.
Please call or e-mail if you have questions or would like to talk further.
