Community, District, and School Factors
Greenville, Mississippi is located in the Mississippi Delta area. It is well-known for its blues musicians and agriculture. Here in the city, it hosts its annual MS Delta Blues Festival every year in September. The city of Greenville spans to serve the Washington County which serves the community of schools through the Greenville Public School District. The title I school is Matty Akin Elementary School it serves grades 1st- 5th grade of 700 students. It also is a school which work with children of special needs according and per grade level with specialized teachers. The racial demographic of the district makes up 95.30% African American, 3.44% White, 1.14% Hispanic, and 0.11% Asian. Recent test surveys indicate that majority of the students are proficient in social studies, while only 24 percent are effective in mathematics. Parents, school leaders, and community members at Greenville often collaborate to promote positive learning outcomes among students. Due to different learning capabilities based on each student’s backgrounds, educators often employ a differentiated instructional technique to increase student engagement and knowledge retention (Renner, 2021).
Classroom Factors
The classroom environment is one of the most important factors that affect student’s learning capabilities. The atmosphere where learning occurs affects the state that individuals can feel but cannot touch. This includes the ways in which the classroom is physically arranged. Desks and the blackboards must be placed in ways that make it comfortable for students to effectively access learning materials and communicate with teachers (Renner, 2021). Additionally, posters that are related to social studies lessons should be fixed on walls to create vantage positions for easy accessibility. One of the simplest models of making the physical environment supportive of learning is to ensure that it has high indoor air quality, sufficient spacing, and proper lighting. Additionally, the psychological climate of the classroom should set the emotional tone for effective reading and learning. This can be accomplished by creating a mood that makes students eager to grasp several learning concepts (Renner, 2021).
Student Characteristics
My 23 kindergarten students are aged from 5- 6 years old. They have different learning styles and capabilities, which affect their overall performance. 2 of the students have IEPs, 4 students attend speech therapy due to low reading skills. Variations in learning competencies often arise from different factors such as their racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Learning style is also viewed as a potentially useful indicator of the ways in which individual differences may affect the effectiveness of distributed learning. Various conceptual constructs can be used to gain insights into each learner’s needs and personality with the purpose of fine-tuning the instructional envir ...

Jacqueline Rodriguez
Hello class!
My name is Jacqueline Rodriguez and I am 34 years old. I live in North Carolina with my four children Isabella, Noel, Novalee and Max. I am a mom of twins (boy and girl) Noel and Novalee. My kids range in age from 9 to 6 years old. Currently I am a 6th grade ELA and Social Studies teacher going on my third year of teaching next school year. Previously I taught Kindergarten and that was a big leap from kindergarten to middle school. Since having some experience in the classroom I feel that assessments are so important in so many aspects. Assessments help teachers plan lessons and differentiate instruction for our students. It also allows us to use the data from assessments to see student growth and where we as teachers can improve our lessons. This leads me to the learning outcome that most intrigues me (Design learner-centered instruction aligned with Common Core State Standards, digital age standards (NETS-S), and 21st Century skills to promote learner achievement and growth). I want my classroom to be a place where students are learning in an innovative and 21st century based learning environment and using their skills to further their knowledge on the content being taught.
Currently I am working on my Masters in Education and have a BA is Psychology. I have always had a love for teaching and decided to go back to school to get my Masters in Education. This will be my fourth course and I am so excited to continue learning more. A fun fact about myself is that I am also an International Bestselling Published Author and have written five titles so far with more on the way. I also enjoy baking so much that I often times bake WAY too much! In teaching this course, I hope Dr. Adkins does provide a great deal of constructive criticism and feed back to help me grow and further my knowledge as an educator.
I look forward to working with everyone!

My name is Chameka Dalton. I am from Memphis, Tennessee. I have a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. I just accepted my first teacher position as a kindergarten teacher for the 2018-2019 school year.
The MAED Program Learning Outcomes that most intrigue me is: Design appropriate and challenging learning experiences informed by analysis of how learners develop individually across the cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical patterns to promote student learning and growth.
Students learning development and academic achievement will always be my main focus. This outcome will allow me to be a more effective as a new teacher at creating appropriate all around lessons. I know that there are multiple forms of assessments used to guide teaching and learning. Assessment is an ongoing process to improve students academic achievement as well as instruction.
During this course, I hope Dr. Adkins provide me with guidance needed to mold me into a better teacher. ...

New York State Certified Childhood Education Grades 1-6
Dear Educational Professionals,
Thank you for considering me as a potential member of your educational team. My experience and
activities outside of the traditional classroom, have given me a diverse background with much to offer. I hold a
New York State Certification for grades 1-6 and a Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Education for grades 1-6
from Buffalo State College. I am enrolled in the Master of Special Education program at Canisius College. I am
dedicated to the academic and social development of students. It is important for children to become responsible
and caring citizens that are motivated to learn. I enjoy developing organized, instructional lesson plans, that
engage students, and keep them interested. Parental involvement is of the utmost importance to student’s
success and I will include parents in the learning and growth of their children.
Currently, I am substituting in districts around my home. I am learning about many types of schools and
communities, while I gain classroom experience. I work students of all levels, from K-12, English language
learners, special education programs, AIS, arts, music, and even physical education. I am familiar with many
curriculum programs, routines, and a wide variety of teaching practices. The creative ideas I have seen are
endless and I'm excited to implement these strategies into my own literacy-rich learning environment. At Al-
Rasheed Academy, I taught English Language Arts and Social Studies at the middle school level. At Al-
Rasheed, I planned curriculum using Common Core, teacher-designed lessons, common-core Pearson textbook
series, and the Wordly Wise 3000 program. I completed professional developments, administered New York
state assessments, collaborated with other teachers, wrote newsletters, kept student records, filled out report
cards, held parent-teacher conferences and planned and chaperoned field trips. I improved and implemented
classroom management procedures, detention and punctuality policies, and classroom and building matrixes.
At Buffalo Public School #43, I assisted teachers in daily activities and headed the transportation department. I
assisted with routine office necessities, monitoring students during lunch and recesses, and transitioning
students from classrooms to specials. My time in the Buffalo school system allowed me to gain valuable
experiences inside and outside of the classroom. During my time in AmeriCorps, I worked in three
Kindergarten classrooms at Pinnacle Charter School in Buffalo, New York. I gained skill in classroom
management and preparation. I gained experience reflecting upon student abilities and needs and helped create
diverse lessons that catered to students on a personal level and according to their Individualized Education
Plans. I received Response to Intervention Training with Jim Wright and English Language Learners Training
with Clare Malachowski. In AmeriCorps I worked on emergent reading skills among Kindergarteners, in the
areas of fluency, decoding, phonics, word work, vocabulary and comprehension. I assisted classroom teachers
in the scaffolding the Kindergarten common core writing skills of sequencing, three-page stories, and the
various steps involved in the writing process. In mathematics, I taught students number recognition, skip
counting, the concept of zero, making tens, and the addition and subtraction of numbers 1-10. I planned and
implemented many center activities and worked with students individually.
My professional education and experience as a Teacher, Assistant, AmeriCorps member, and student
teacher, in suburban and inner-city school districts, allows me to be confident in my ability to be a valuable
asset to your district. I am a hard-working and well-rounded educator, and I look forward to discussing with you
the many ways in which I can make a difference in your educational program. Thank you for your time and
consideration.
Sincerely,
Miss Melissa McGowen
