The landfill of Roncajette in Italy was redeveloped into a renewable energy park featuring a biogas recovery plant and 1 MW photovoltaic installation. The biogas plant provides energy for over 700 families annually while the solar installation produces 1.2 million kWh for the local tram system. The project's success was due to its environmental sustainability objectives, cooperation between local actors to preserve the territory, and integrated waste management with energy recovery from landfill gas. Marginal lands are utilized productively for clean electricity generation.
