Maniacal tendencies refer to desires that become excessive, unreasonable, coercive, and violent. Severe forms of mania can be dangerous. To prevent maniacal tendencies, one should introspect to determine how reasonable and important their desires are, and whether fulfilling those desires could harm others. Practicing NAMASMARAN, which involves remembering God, can help avoid disasters caused by maniacal tendencies, even for those without religious beliefs.

3. Every morning you wake up with some desire
and also desire to do something (although
vague). This excitement when gets flared up
indiscriminately and becomes excessive and
unreasonable and coercive and violent; gets
commonly branded as MANIACAL
TENDENCY. (Pathologically severer forms of
mania manifest far more dangerously!)
One simple and non-drug method is to
introspect and find out how reasonable and
how important your desires are.

4. This would preclude many desires which are
unreasonable and not so very important even
to you.
Secondly it is worth finding out how much
you are likely to harm others; in fulfilling
desires which are, so to say, important to you.
Many times mania may manifest as undue
restlessness. Your own quiet and peaceful
existence may appear to be passive and
redundant and hence defeatist to you;
yourself!

5. Do not worry. Try NAMASMARAN
irrespective of your beliefs and nonbeliefs! It is
most likely avert many incidences of disasters
in your life including those caused by maniacal
tendencies!
