4. The Lungs are the most tender organ, like a flower with delicate
membranes. They’re easy to irritate because they’re gentle, but
don’t be fooled. They’re a powerhouse — constantly at work
nourishing each cell with breath, they control the body’s Qi (similar
to energy) and ensure that every part is well supplied.

5. LUNGS are two spongy organs located within the Chest/
Thoracic Cavity that allow for exchange of Oxygen and Carbon
Dioxide gasses.
The Lungs combined weigh about 3 pounds, consist of 600
million gas exchange units called Alveoli or air sacs with 1,500
miles of airways (distance from Florida to Nebraska).
The surface area of the Lungs is equivalent to that of a tennis
court!
Lungs are the main part of the lower respiratory tract. They
commence with the Trachea leading to the Bronchi that
ultimately become the Lungs themselves.

9. WE BREATHE via a very well- coordinated
integrated process involving physics, chemistry,
electromagnetism and ‘DIVINITY’.
C02 or carbon dioxide gas (or carbonic acid in the
blood) will stimulate receptors in the arteries of the
neck and in the aorta to send impulses to the lower
part of the brain - MEDULLA and PONS - and then to
the main muscle of breathing - THE DIAPHRAM - to
contract so that air is pulled into the RESPIRATORY
TRACT via the nose or mouth and into the LUNGS.
HOW DO WE BREATH?

10. The air that is taken in contains 21% oxygen (O2) and
more than 80% nitrogen (N) with less than 1% CO2. It
is the OXYGEN that will be exchanged in the air sacs
with CARBON DIOXIDE to complete the breath. This
process is continuous.
The body takes in approximately 11,000 liters (nearly 3
thousand gallons) of AIR daily and produces about 2-3
pounds of CO2.
