Lung cancer is a malignant lung tumor characterized by uncontrolled cell growth in lung tissues. The main types are small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), which is the most common type. NSCLC can be further classified as adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, or large cell carcinoma. Lung cancer is caused by smoking, asbestos, air pollution, and genetics. Common symptoms include cough, sputum production, shortness of breath, and fatigue. Treatment depends on the stage of cancer but may include chemotherapy with drugs like cisplatin, carboplatin, paclitaxel, docetaxel, and others.

6. SMALL CELL LUNG CANCER
It generally starts in one of the large breathing
tubes ,grows fairly rapidly and is likely to be large
by the time of diagnosis.
Spreads more quickly and aggressively

7. NON –SMALL CELL LUNG CANCER
Most common type
About 80-85% are NSCLA
Grows more slowly
FURTHER CLASSIFIED INTO FOLLOWING:
1. EPIDERMOID CARCINOMA:
30-35% of lung cancer
Arise from bronchial epithelium
Slow growth

2. Adenocarcinoma :
25-30% of lung cancer
Arise from bronchiole mucus gland
Slow growth
3.Large cell carcinoma
10-20% of lung cancer
Slow metastasis may occur to kidney , liver and
adrenals
