LSC VOLLEYBALL
The Lone Star Conference volleyball season is underway with all nine teams competing in tournament play
on the opening weekend. Angelo State, Tarleton State and Cameron boast perfect records after one week.
LSC volleyball teams are 30-10 overall this season. The squads are currently 11-4 combined versus Rocky
Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 7-2 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues
in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Hailey Roberts, Tarleton State University, SO, Cedar Park, Texas, Cedar Park HS
Roberts put together, not just one of the best starts by any LSC player of the past week, but arguably one of
the best starts to a season in school history. The sophomore outside hitter from Cedar Park blasted a league-
leading 100 kills in the first five games to put the TexAnns out to a 5-0 start to the season. In the season opener
against Chadron State, Roberts landed a career-high 32 kills – making her the third TexAnn in school history
and first since 1999 to land 30 kills in a single game. In addition to high volume of kills, the sophomore is landing
them at an incredible rate, boasting a .402 hitting percentage for the opening week of the season. She has also
landed a league-leading amount of service aces (10) while also posting four double-doubles in the first five
games. She has recorded 51 digs, which is second-highest on the team, and 13 total blocks in addition to a
team-best 116.5 points in five games.
DEFENSIVE
Meg Umbel, Tarleton State University, SR, San Antonio, Texas, O’Connor HS
Umbel made a triumphant return to the starting lineup for Tarleton this weekend as the senior from San
Antonio lifted Tarleton to a 5-0 start, including three straight sweeps of Texas-Permian Basin, Western New
Mexico, and Howard Payne. Umbel not only leads the TexAnns in blocks with 24 but also leads the Lone Star
Conference, while helping limit opponents to a .090 hitting percentage. The senior also leads with a 1.41 blocks
per set average. In addition to her work at the net, she added 20 kills, two assists, two digs, and 32.5 points.
SETTER
Maggi Jo Keffury, Angelo State University, SR, Arroyo, Calif., Arroyo Grande
Keffury orchestrated a Belle offense that hit .241 as a team went 6-0 to start the season. The senior setter
recorded a career high 52 assists against WMNU and her second double-double of the season against UC-
Colorado Spring with 44 assists. She averaged 11.5 assists per set during the six matches. The Arroyo. Calif.,
native totaled 254 total assists and 57 digs.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
	 Kat Evans, Cameron University, provided Cameron with an extra boost in a perfect 4-0 weekend at Texas
Woman’s University by averaging 4.08 kills and 5.08 digs per set. The lone CU senior had three double-doubles
and hit .273 on the floor in 13 sets played. In the final match of the weekend, she led the Aggies with 19 kills
against Harding, a team that was picked second in the GAC preseason poll. She also had 17 digs in a three set
win over Arkansas Tech, a team that was picked to win the GAC title. Through the first weekend of play Evans
is second in the LSC in average kills and digs per match, she was also an All-Tournament selection and named
OklahomaSports.net player of the week.
	 Mallory Blauser, Angelo State University, led an offensive attack by the Belles to a 6-0 start to open the
season. The junior hit .252 through the first six matches of the season. She recorded a season high 21 kills in
a four-set match against UC-Colorado Springs. The Round Rock native has five-straight matches with double-
digit kills and averages 3.95 kills per set which is second in the LSC. She also contributed 31 digs.
	 Lauren Frye, Eastern New Mexico University, helped the Greyhounds to a 2-2 record over the weekend at
the Lady Buff Classic. With double digit kills in all four matches, Frye set her career single match high for kills
with 23 against LCU. She attacked the net at an incredibly efficient pace, averaging a .328 hitting percentage
with a tournament high of .450 against Adams.
	 Layne Little, Texas A&M University - Commerce, had 21 kills in her first game as a Lion and 55 kills total

on Labor Day Weekend. Also, nailed a kill to tie the
first set 23-23 against Dallas Baptist which lifted the
momentum of the team to sweep Dallas Baptist on
September 8, 2015.
	 Makayla Mayfield, Texas Woman’s University,
made her collegiate debut with a team best 3.23 kills
per set at the 2015 Hilton Garden Inn Classic. She
posted two double-doubles on the opening day and
earned all-tournament honors. Mayfield also added
53 digs on defense.
	 Lexi Davis, West Texas A&M University, started off
her senior season in style this past weekend as the
No. 22 Lady Buffs went 3-1 at the BritKare Lady Buff
Classic. The Dumas, Texas native registered a team
high 45 kills in 17 sets to average 2.65 per frame to
go along with four service aces and 19 digs with 15
total blocks (6 solo, 9 assisted). Davis registered a
match high 16 kills on 26 swings with just four attack
errors to hit .462 on the afternoon. The senior middle
blocker tallied double-digit kills in three of the four
matches over the weekend.
	 Kiley Beaver, Midwestern State University, began
her collegiate career by hitting a team-best .307
during Midwestern State’s opening weekend, totaling
31 kills and just four errors on 88 swings ... Led the
Mustangs with 11 kills and four blocks in the season
opener against Colorado Christian, committing zero
errors for a .423 hitting percentage ... Ranks ninth in
the LSC in hitting percentage and blocks (0.80/set).
	 ToriLuckenbill,CameronUniversity,dishedout160
assists and averaged 12.31 per set as a true freshman.
Through four matches the Aggies are hitting .229
as a team and improved saw its hitting percentage
nearly double as the weekend progressed. In the
final game of the weekend against Harding, a team
picked second in the GAC preseason poll, Luckenbill
picked up 51 assists in a three set match. Also she
pushed the Aggies to 58 kills in a three set match, the
programs highest total since Sept, 2006. Luckenbill
had one double-double but was a dig short in two
other matches from three for the weekend. Through
the first weekend of the season she has the second
highest assist per set average in the LSC.
	 Joey Redwine, Texas Woman’s University, ran a
5-1 offense for TWU for the first time in four years
and led the Pioneers with 10.5 assists per set. She
also posted 38 digs, seven total blocks and four
service aces. Redwine recorded 24 or more assists
in all four games (three 3-set games and one 4-set
game).
	 Chandler Gow, Tarleton State University, in her
first game of the season, set a career high for assists
with 53, shattering her previous high of 36. The
sophomore setter led Tarleton to a 5-0 start to the
season, including three straight sweeps. Gow has
173 assists in 17 sets for a 10.18 average to help
lead the TexAnns to a 5-0 record to start the season.
The TexAnns as a team, which leads the LSC, hit .305
for the first five games of the season. In addition to
her assists, Gow had nine kills, four aces, 22 digs, 11
blocks, and 18.5 points.
	 Casey Klobedans, Texas A&M University -
Kingsville, put up 49 assists in all three victories by
Texas A&M-Kingsville in St. Louis, Missouri. For the
week she totaled 182 assists for an average of 9.58
while the team hit .164 with 12.53 kills per set. In the
first match of the year against Southern Wesleyan,
Klobedans recorded six service aces in the five
set match to set a new school record. During the
Maryville Invitational, she finished with 19 kills (1.00
per set), 29 digs (1.53), 10 blocks (0.53) and eight
service aces.
	 Alexis Aguirre, Eastern New Mexico University,
helped her team to a 2-2 record at the Lady Buff
Classic over the weekend. She had a career high 40
assists against DBU and also a career high in service
aces of three against Adams.
	 Dalaney Tuholski, West Texas A&M University,
had a standout first weekend in a Lady Buff uniform
during the BritKare Lady Buff Classic in Canyon. The
freshman from Vancouver, Washington tallied 25 kills
on 73 swings to hit .218 to go along with 93 assists for
an average of 5.47 per frame. Tuholski registered her
first collegiate double-double on Friday night against
Colorado State-Pueblo as she registered 21 assists
and 10 digs to go along with four kills in a five-set win
over the ThunderWolves.
	 Katie MacLeay, Angelo State University, anchored
a Belle defense that limited opponents to a .118
hitting percentage. The senior libero recorded 5.73
digs per set and leads the LSC in that category. She
set a career high with 38 digs against Western New
Mexico. The San Antonio native served five aces to
help ASU to a 6-0 start to open the season. Her 126
digs is the most in the LSC this season.
	 Mallory Kuechle, Texas Woman’s University, led
the Pioneers on defense with 55 digs and 4.23 digs
per set. She also added 2.00 kills per set on offense
and a team-best four service aces. Kuechle recorded
13 or more digs in three of the four games and posted
one double-double (10 kills and 20 digs) against
Harding on Friday, Sept. 4.
	 Krystal Faison, Texas A&M University - Kingsville,
helped lead Texas A&M-Kingsville to a 3-1 record
at the Maryville Invitational over the weekend.
She led the Javelinas with 77 digs and 4.05 digs per
set while helping hold opponents to a .158 attack
percentage and only 10.47 kills per set. Faison
recorded two double-double including a 20-kill, 21-
dig performance in the final match of the tournament
against Maryville. For the week, she also put up 48
kills, 2.53 kills per set, 13 assists, five service aces and
a block.
	 Courtney Lawson, Eastern New Mexico University,
was second on the team with 42 digs, and also
second for the Greyhounds in kills with 46. Lawson
excelled defensively as well as offensively and was
perhaps ENMU’s best all around player at the Lady
Buff Classic. Aside from digs, Lawson also had 110
serving receptions with only five errors for a .955
percentage.
	 Elisa Bentsen, West Texas A&M University, had a
monster first weekend in a WT uniform during the
BritKare Lady Buff Classic as the Hesperia, California
native registered 43 kills on 91 swings to hit .352
while averaging 2.53 kills per set. The Northwestern
Oklahoma State transfer tallied a team high 21 total
blocks (4 solo, 17 assisted) to average 1.24 per frame
to go along with three digs. The junior middle blocker
registered 14 kills against CSU-Pueblo on Friday night
while hitting .430 on 30 swings.

The Belles started the season 6-0 for the third
time under head coach Chuck Waddington ... ASU
defeated four teams at home during the Kathleen
Brasfield Invitational and won two regional matches
in Colorado versus Western State and UC-Colorado
Springs ... ASU is hitting .241 as a team which is
second in the LSC ... The Belles defense is limiting
teams to just a .115 hitting percentage also second
in the league. ASU will play in the Colorado Premier
Challenge this Friday and Saturday.
Cameron	
The Cameron volleyball team has opened the season
4-0 for the first time since 2009 and finished the
weekend by sweeping its last three opponents

something that hasn’t happen for a CU team since
2006. Through the first weekend of play, the Aggies
led the LSC in assists per set (14.08), kills per set
(14.69), digs per set (22.15), and has second best
in opponent hitting percentage (.118). Two of the
Aggies wins were sweeps against teams selected
in the top two in the Great American Conference
with CU holding individuals in the top two overall
in four of the six major statistical categories. Aggie
senior Kat Evans and freshman Jordan Williams
were both named to the Texas Woman’s University
Hilton Garden Inn All-Tournament team and Evans
was named one of the top two players of the week
on OklahomaSports.net. Cameron will stay inside
of the state of Oklahoma this weekend at will visit
East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma for four
matches.
Eastern New Mexico	
The ENMU Greyhounds started out the season at the
Lady Buff Classic in Canyon, Texas, hosted by WT and
went 2-2 over the weekend. With wins over Adams
State University and Lubbock Christian University, the
Greyhounds were happy with standout performances
from veterans Lauren Frye and Courtney Lawson.
Frye had arguably her best tournament of her career,
recording 66 kills (with a career high of 23 against
LCU) and Lawson recording 46 as well as 42 digs and a
.955 serving reception percentage. The Greyhounds
also saw a big weekend out of sophomore Alexis
Aguirre who played her first major role for ENMU,
recording a team high 102 assists and five service
errors.
Midwestern State	
Midwestern State opened the season going 1-3 at
Colorado Mines’ Oredigger Classic in Golden last
weekend. The Mustangs earned a 3-1 win over Pace
(N.Y.) and dropped matches to Colorado Christian
(3-1), Minnesota State-Moorhead (3-0) and No. 8
Colorado Mines (3-1). Sophomore outside hitter
Meghan Bettis and freshman middle blocker Kiley
Beaver paced the MSU offense at the Oredigger
Classic. Bettis led the Mustangs with 2.40 kills per
set while Beaver was close behind with an average
of 2.07 per set. In her first collegiate action, Beaver
led the Mustangs with a .307 hitting percentage,
totaling 31 kills and committing just four errors
on 88 swings. In the Lone Star Conference, Beaver
ranks ninth in hitting percentage and in blocks
(0.80 per set). Sophomore outside hitter/middle
blocker Addison Semer also climbed into the league
standings in blocks, leading MSU with 0.87 per set to
rank seventh. Freshman setter Hayden Blair ran the
offense for the Mustangs last weekend, appearing
in all 15 sets and making three starts. Blair tallied
a weekend-best 41 assists while also contributing
18 digs in the Mustangs’ win over Pace (N.Y.). Blair
currently ranks seventh in the LSC with 7.80 assists
per set. Defensively, junior libero Madelyn Johnson
averaged 2.93 digs per set with 20 digs coming in
Midwestern’s win over Pace. Johnson ranks second in
the LSC with 0.47 service aces per set after recording
seven on the weekend, three coming against No. 8
Colorado Mines. The Mustangs begin their home
slate Wednesday, hosting Southwestern Oklahoma
State at 3 p.m. before a 7:30 p.m. contest against
Texas Wesleyan at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Midwestern
will compete in their final tournament of the season
this weekend at the Arkansas Tech Tournament in
Russellville. The Mustangs will open up the tourney
Friday morning at 11 a.m. against the host institution
before wrapping up the day against Missouri
Southern at 3 p.m. Midwestern will then take on
first-year head coach Natalie Rawson’s former team,
Newman (Kan.), at 9 a.m. Saturday. The Mustangs
will conclude the tournament later that day at 1 p.m.
against Ouachita Baptist.
Tarleton State	
Tarleton is off to their best start at 5-0 since 2010
when the TexAnns won their first nine games to
open the season. Tarleton opened at the Angelo
State Invitational by winning the first two matches
3-1 against Chadron State and Newman and followed
that up by sweeping the Saturday doubleheaders
3-0 against Texas-Permian Basin and Western New
Mexico. In their home opener, Tarleton gave the
TexAnns fans plenty to cheer for with a 3-0 win
over Howard Payne and holding the Yellow Jackets
to under 13 points in all three sets. The TexAnns are
now 8-3 in home openers under head coach Mary
Schindler since she took over the program in 2005.
In the five wins, Tarleton has outscored opponents
15-2, including 9-0 in their last three matches. The
fourth win of the season was No. 300 for Tarleton as
an NCAA institution.

Texas A&M-Kingsville started the season 3-1 at the
Maryville Invitational... All five victories were in five
sets... Lone loss came against former LSC member
Central Oklahoma in four sets... Head coach Tanya
Allen tied the program record for wins with her
68th... Valarie Moehrig led team with 59 kills and
3.11 kills per set... Adding 49 kills (2.58 per set), seven
blocks and six service aces was Ashley Bukowski...
Krystal Faison had 20 or more digs in the last three
matches... Posted a 20-20 double-double against
Maryville (20 kills, 21 digs)... First Javelina to reach
the accomplishment since 2013... Madison Brabham
(11 blocks), Haley Hutchinson (10 blks) and Casey
Klobedans (10 blks) finished with double-digit blocks
for the weekend... Klobedans led the team with 182
assists (9.58 assists per set)... Was credited with
49 assists in all five victories... TAMUK hosts the
Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Volleyball Invitational
this weekend... Will face Bentley, Drury, Lubbock

Texas Woman’s	
The TWU volleyball team opened the season at
home with a 3-1 record at the 2015 Hilton Garden
Inn Classic on Sept. 4-5. On the opening day the
Pioneers were led by a pair of newcomers, junior Sara
Oxford and freshman Makayla Mayfield. TWU swept
Arkansas at Monticello in straight sets, 25-20, 25-15
and 25-19 and then defeated Harding in four sets,
27-25, 25-22, 19-25 and 25-15. On the second the
day the Pioneers split their two games. TWU swept
Arkansas Tech, 25-20, 25-23 and 25-19 before falling
to UC-Colorado Springs, 21-25, 25-27 and 16-25.
Mayfield led the team on offense with 3.23 kills per
set. She also added 53 digs on defense. Senior Hillary
Shaffer posted 3.08 kills per set and a team best .356
hitting percentage. Senior Joey Redwine was the
team leader in assists with 10.5 average and junior
Mallory Kuechle had a team-best 4.23 digs per set.

and 225 digs while tallying 43 total blocks (16 solo,
54 assisted) to average 2.53 per frame. The Lady
Buffs return to action this weekend as they travel to
Lakeland, Florida for the Florida Southern Terrace
Hotel Classic with matchups scheduled against No.
25 Armstrong State, St. Leo, Central Oklahoma and

Angelo State, Tarleton State and Cameron boast perfect records after one week. LSC volleyball teams are 30-10 overall this season. The squads are currently 11-4 combined versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 7-2 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues in the NCAA South Central Region. PLAYERS OF THE WEEK OFFENSIVE Hailey Roberts, Tarleton State University, SO, Cedar Park, Texas, Cedar Park HS Roberts put together, not just one of the best starts by any LSC player of the past week, but arguably one of the best starts to a season in school history. The sophomore outside hitter from Cedar Park blasted a league- leading 100 kills in the first five games to put the TexAnns out to a 5-0 start to the season. In the season opener against Chadron State, Roberts landed a career-high 32 kills – making her the third TexAnn in school history and first since 1999 to land 30 kills in a single game. In addition to high volume of kills, the sophomore is landing them at an incredible rate, boasting a .402 hitting percentage for the opening week of the season. She has also landed a league-leading amount of service aces (10) while also posting four double-doubles in the first five games. She has recorded 51 digs, which is second-highest on the team, and 13 total blocks in addition to a team-best 116.5 points in five games. DEFENSIVE Meg Umbel, Tarleton State University, SR, San Antonio, Texas, O’Connor HS Umbel made a triumphant return to the starting lineup for Tarleton this weekend as the senior from San Antonio lifted Tarleton to a 5-0 start, including three straight sweeps of Texas-Permian Basin, Western New Mexico, and Howard Payne. Umbel not only leads the TexAnns in blocks with 24 but also leads the Lone Star Conference, while helping limit opponents to a .090 hitting percentage. The senior also leads with a 1.41 blocks per set average. In addition to her work at the net, she added 20 kills, two assists, two digs, and 32.5 points. SETTER Maggi Jo Keffury, Angelo State University, SR, Arroyo, Calif., Arroyo Grande Keffury orchestrated a Belle offense that hit .241 as a team went 6-0 to start the season. The senior setter recorded a career high 52 assists against WMNU and her second double-double of the season against UC- Colorado Spring with 44 assists. She averaged 11.5 assists per set during the six matches. The Arroyo. Calif., native totaled 254 total assists and 57 digs. OTHER TOP PERFORMERS Kat Evans, Cameron University, provided Cameron with an extra boost in a perfect 4-0 weekend at Texas Woman’s University by averaging 4.08 kills and 5.08 digs per set. The lone CU senior had three double-doubles and hit .273 on the floor in 13 sets played. In the final match of the weekend, she led the Aggies with 19 kills against Harding, a team that was picked second in the GAC preseason poll. She also had 17 digs in a three set win over Arkansas Tech, a team that was picked to win the GAC title. Through the first weekend of play Evans is second in the LSC in average kills and digs per match, she was also an All-Tournament selection and named OklahomaSports.net player of the week. Mallory Blauser, Angelo State University, led an offensive attack by the Belles to a 6-0 start to open the season. The junior hit .252 through the first six matches of the season. She recorded a season high 21 kills in a four-set match against UC-Colorado Springs. The Round Rock native has five-straight matches with double- digit kills and averages 3.95 kills per set which is second in the LSC. She also contributed 31 digs. Lauren Frye, Eastern New Mexico University, helped the Greyhounds to a 2-2 record over the weekend at the Lady Buff Classic. With double digit kills in all four matches, Frye set her career single match high for kills with 23 against LCU. She attacked the net at an incredibly efficient pace, averaging a .328 hitting percentage with a tournament high of .450 against Adams. Also, nailed a kill to tie the first set 23-23 against Dallas Baptist which lifted the momentum of the team to sweep Dallas Baptist on September 8, 2015. Makayla Mayfield, Texas Woman’s University, made her collegiate debut with a team best 3.23 kills per set at the 2015 Hilton Garden Inn Classic. She posted two double-doubles on the opening day and earned all-tournament honors. Mayfield also added 53 digs on defense. Lexi Davis, West Texas A&M University, started off her senior season in style this past weekend as the No. 22 Lady Buffs went 3-1 at the BritKare Lady Buff Classic. The Dumas, Texas native registered a team high 45 kills in 17 sets to average 2.65 per frame to go along with four service aces and 19 digs with 15 total blocks (6 solo, 9 assisted). Davis registered a match high 16 kills on 26 swings with just four attack errors to hit .462 on the afternoon. The senior middle blocker tallied double-digit kills in three of the four matches over the weekend. Kiley Beaver, Midwestern State University, began her collegiate career by hitting a team-best .307 during Midwestern State’s opening weekend, totaling 31 kills and just four errors on 88 swings ... Led the Mustangs with 11 kills and four blocks in the season opener against Colorado Christian, committing zero errors for a .423 hitting percentage ... Ranks ninth in the LSC in hitting percentage and blocks (0.80/set). ToriLuckenbill,CameronUniversity,dishedout160 assists and averaged 12.31 per set as a true freshman. Through four matches the Aggies are hitting .229 as a team and improved saw its hitting percentage nearly double as the weekend progressed. In the final game of the weekend against Harding, a team picked second in the GAC preseason poll, Luckenbill picked up 51 assists in a three set match. Also she pushed the Aggies to 58 kills in a three set match, the programs highest total since Sept, 2006. Luckenbill had one double-double but was a dig short in two other matches from three for the weekend. Through the first weekend of the season she has the second highest assist per set average in the LSC. Joey Redwine, Texas Woman’s University, ran a 5-1 offense for TWU for the first time in four years and led the Pioneers with 10.5 assists per set. She also posted 38 digs, seven total blocks and four service aces. Redwine recorded 24 or more assists in all four games (three 3-set games and one 4-set game). Chandler Gow, Tarleton State University, in her first game of the season, set a career high for assists with 53, shattering her previous high of 36. The sophomore setter led Tarleton to a 5-0 start to the season, including three straight sweeps. Gow has 173 assists in 17 sets for a 10.18 average to help lead the TexAnns to a 5-0 record to start the season. The TexAnns as a team, which leads the LSC, hit .305 for the first five games of the season. In addition to her assists, Gow had nine kills, four aces, 22 digs, 11 blocks, and 18.5 points. Casey Klobedans, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, put up 49 assists in all three victories by Texas A&M-Kingsville in St. Louis, Missouri. For the week she totaled 182 assists for an average of 9.58 while the team hit .164 with 12.53 kills per set. In the first match of the year against Southern Wesleyan, Klobedans recorded six service aces in the five set match to set a new school record. During the Maryville Invitational, she finished with 19 kills (1.00 per set), 29 digs (1.53), 10 blocks (0.53) and eight service aces. Alexis Aguirre, Eastern New Mexico University, helped her team to a 2-2 record at the Lady Buff Classic over the weekend. She had a career high 40 assists against DBU and also a career high in service aces of three against Adams. Dalaney Tuholski, West Texas A&M University, had a standout first weekend in a Lady Buff uniform during the BritKare Lady Buff Classic in Canyon. The freshman from Vancouver, Washington tallied 25 kills on 73 swings to hit .218 to go along with 93 assists for an average of 5.47 per frame. Tuholski registered her first collegiate double-double on Friday night against Colorado State-Pueblo as she registered 21 assists and 10 digs to go along with four kills in a five-set win over the ThunderWolves. Katie MacLeay, Angelo State University, anchored a Belle defense that limited opponents to a .118 hitting percentage. The senior libero recorded 5.73 digs per set and leads the LSC in that category. She set a career high with 38 digs against Western New Mexico. The San Antonio native served five aces to help ASU to a 6-0 start to open the season. Her 126 digs is the most in the LSC this season. Mallory Kuechle, Texas Woman’s University, led the Pioneers on defense with 55 digs and 4.23 digs per set. She also added 2.00 kills per set on offense and a team-best four service aces. Kuechle recorded 13 or more digs in three of the four games and posted one double-double (10 kills and 20 digs) against Harding on Friday, Sept. 4. Krystal Faison, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, helped lead Texas A&M-Kingsville to a 3-1 record at the Maryville Invitational over the weekend. She led the Javelinas with 77 digs and 4.05 digs per set while helping hold opponents to a .158 attack percentage and only 10.47 kills per set. Faison recorded two double-double including a 20-kill, 21- dig performance in the final match of the tournament against Maryville. For the week, she also put up 48 kills, 2.53 kills per set, 13 assists, five service aces and a block. Courtney Lawson, Eastern New Mexico University, was second on the team with 42 digs, and also second for the Greyhounds in kills with 46. Lawson excelled defensively as well as offensively and was perhaps ENMU’s best all around player at the Lady Buff Classic. Aside from digs, Lawson also had 110 serving receptions with only five errors for a .955 percentage. Elisa Bentsen, West Texas A&M University, had a monster first weekend in a WT uniform during the BritKare Lady Buff Classic as the Hesperia, California native registered 43 kills on 91 swings to hit .352 while averaging 2.53 kills per set. The Northwestern Oklahoma State transfer tallied a team high 21 total blocks (4 solo, 17 assisted) to average 1.24 per frame to go along with three digs. The junior middle blocker registered 14 kills against CSU-Pueblo on Friday night while hitting .430 on 30 swings. Through the first weekend of play, the Aggies led the LSC in assists per set (14.08), kills per set (14.69), digs per set (22.15), and has second best in opponent hitting percentage (.118). Two of the Aggies wins were sweeps against teams selected in the top two in the Great American Conference with CU holding individuals in the top two overall in four of the six major statistical categories. Aggie senior Kat Evans and freshman Jordan Williams were both named to the Texas Woman’s University Hilton Garden Inn All-Tournament team and Evans was named one of the top two players of the week on OklahomaSports.net. Cameron will stay inside of the state of Oklahoma this weekend at will visit East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma for four matches. Eastern New Mexico The ENMU Greyhounds started out the season at the Lady Buff Classic in Canyon, Texas, hosted by WT and went 2-2 over the weekend. With wins over Adams State University and Lubbock Christian University, the Greyhounds were happy with standout performances from veterans Lauren Frye and Courtney Lawson. Frye had arguably her best tournament of her career, recording 66 kills (with a career high of 23 against LCU) and Lawson recording 46 as well as 42 digs and a .955 serving reception percentage. The Greyhounds also saw a big weekend out of sophomore Alexis Aguirre who played her first major role for ENMU, recording a team high 102 assists and five service errors. Midwestern State Midwestern State opened the season going 1-3 at Colorado Mines’ Oredigger Classic in Golden last weekend. The Mustangs earned a 3-1 win over Pace (N.Y.) and dropped matches to Colorado Christian (3-1), Minnesota State-Moorhead (3-0) and No. 8 Colorado Mines (3-1). Sophomore outside hitter Meghan Bettis and freshman middle blocker Kiley Beaver paced the MSU offense at the Oredigger Classic. Bettis led the Mustangs with 2.40 kills per set while Beaver was close behind with an average of 2.07 per set. In her first collegiate action, Beaver led the Mustangs with a .307 hitting percentage, totaling 31 kills and committing just four errors on 88 swings. In the Lone Star Conference, Beaver ranks ninth in hitting percentage and in blocks (0.80 per set). Sophomore outside hitter/middle blocker Addison Semer also climbed into the league standings in blocks, leading MSU with 0.87 per set to rank seventh. Freshman setter Hayden Blair ran the offense for the Mustangs last weekend, appearing in all 15 sets and making three starts. Blair tallied a weekend-best 41 assists while also contributing 18 digs in the Mustangs’ win over Pace (N.Y.). Blair currently ranks seventh in the LSC with 7.80 assists per set. Defensively, junior libero Madelyn Johnson averaged 2.93 digs per set with 20 digs coming in Midwestern’s win over Pace. Johnson ranks second in the LSC with 0.47 service aces per set after recording seven on the weekend, three coming against No. 8 Colorado Mines. The Mustangs begin their home slate Wednesday, hosting Southwestern Oklahoma State at 3 p.m. before a 7:30 p.m. contest against Texas Wesleyan at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Midwestern will compete in their final tournament of the season this weekend at the Arkansas Tech Tournament in Russellville. The Mustangs will open up the tourney Friday morning at 11 a.m. against the host institution before wrapping up the day against Missouri Southern at 3 p.m. Midwestern will then take on first-year head coach Natalie Rawson’s former team, Newman (Kan.), at 9 a.m. Saturday. The Mustangs will conclude the tournament later that day at 1 p.m. against Ouachita Baptist. Tarleton State Tarleton is off to their best start at 5-0 since 2010 when the TexAnns won their first nine games to open the season. Tarleton opened at the Angelo State Invitational by winning the first two matches 3-1 against Chadron State and Newman and followed that up by sweeping the Saturday doubleheaders 3-0 against Texas-Permian Basin and Western New Mexico. In their home opener, Tarleton gave the TexAnns fans plenty to cheer for with a 3-0 win over Howard Payne and holding the Yellow Jackets to under 13 points in all three sets. The TexAnns are now 8-3 in home openers under head coach Mary Schindler since she took over the program in 2005. In the five wins, Tarleton has outscored opponents 15-2, including 9-0 in their last three matches. The fourth win of the season was No. 300 for Tarleton as an NCAA institution. TWU swept Arkansas at Monticello in straight sets, 25-20, 25-15 and 25-19 and then defeated Harding in four sets, 27-25, 25-22, 19-25 and 25-15. On the second the day the Pioneers split their two games. TWU swept Arkansas Tech, 25-20, 25-23 and 25-19 before falling to UC-Colorado Springs, 21-25, 25-27 and 16-25. Mayfield led the team on offense with 3.23 kills per set. She also added 53 digs on defense. Senior Hillary Shaffer posted 3.08 kills per set and a team best .356 hitting percentage.
