2. My Brief
You have been commissioned by the
Northern Echo to produce a new magazine
or newspaper product. Your product could
be in any style or genre but it must be self
financed through sales or advertising. You
must also produce your magazine for a
specified audience segment within the 16 to
25 age group.
3. How to meet the brief…
To make sure I am able to meet my brief I
have done the following
-Make sure the quality is to the highest
standard
-Car motoring magazine for 16-25 year olds
-a gap in the market and is commercially
viable
-self financed through sales and advertising
5. Things to take into
consideration
Secondary Audience
The secondary audience for my magazine
will include the northern echo readers,
parents and siblings. In order to avoid
offence and ensure the secondary
audience are happy there will be very little
taboo if so mild and no inappropriate
content which could be offensive or contain
nudity.
6. Things to consider
Constraints- the press complaints commission
The IPSO is a body who deals with complaints
from members of the public about the content
of magazines and newspapers. There are 16
codes that must be followed by magazines and
newspapers. The IPSO look into complaints
that have been made by individuals who
believe that the code has been breached.
To ensure I do not break any of the codes I
have created 5 Golden Rules I must follow…

It is very important to make sure that informed consent is given before
questioning, photographing or publishing information about an individual.
To make sure trespassing doesn’t occur I will gain check with the land owner
to be allowed to access the area and to take photographs on it.
I will be considerate and caring when discussing sensitive topics such as
illness, shock and grief. To make sure no information which could offend
them is released.
I must ensure all information is confidential therefore not giving out
information about an individual e.g. name, age and race. Unless permission
is given.
I must ensure that all information about a topic, individual or organisation
that is published is accurate and not false.
8. My USP
My Usp is that magazine contains
affordable nice modified cars which my
target audience can afford unlike other
