This document describes 12 locations used for filming interviews and cutaways for a documentary. The locations include a school canteen, classrooms, offices, shopping centers, parks, streets, homes, and the underground. Key considerations for choosing locations were convenience for interviewees, lighting, sound quality, and setting relevance to the content discussed. Some locations required additional lighting equipment or worked around disruptions from people or noise. The variety of public and private settings helped capture footage of different people, cultures, and lifestyles.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
2. Location 1:
Oaks Park High school - Canteen
45-65 Oaks Ln,
Newbury Park, Ilford,
Essex IG2 7PQ
We based the introduction in
the school canteen, as we
made use of the students who
were working there, we asked
them to hold up whiteboards.
This location was best as the
lighting was bright and there
were a number of people who
we were able to ask to take
part in forming our
documentary.
Introduction filming
3. Location 2:
Oaks Park High school – D13
45-65 Oaks Ln,
Newbury Park, Ilford,
Essex IG2 7PQ
We chose to film in this location because it was most convenient for
the interviewee.
We were able to quickly proceed with the interview during our lunch
break and, and set up the equipment before hand.
We found that filming against a white wall made the interview more
casual, as his costume conveyed a very formal situation.
The lighting was good, however, like other interviews, it was
necessary have the external light along with the classroom light and
daylight
We had a few problems with sound, as the noise of pupils outside
could be heard, very faintly through the windows and doors.
Nick Pattison Interview
4. Location 3:
Oaks Park High school – Constable Skibbs’
office
45-65 Oaks Ln,
Newbury Park, Ilford,
Essex IG2 7PQ
Similar to Nick Pattison’s interview location, we found that
it was most convenient for the interviewee to have his
interview in his office.
Also, it gave a professional feel, which was complementary
to the topic he was talking about in his interview.
The sound posed as problem for us at first, as the sounds
of pupils could be heard outside of the office, this soon
stopped, after-which we proceeded with the filming.
Along with sound, lighting was also an issue, but we were
quickly able to collect an external light in order to fix the
problem.
Constable Skibbs Interview
5. Location 4:
Oaks Park High school – Mr Dutch’s Office
45-65 Oaks Ln,
Newbury Park, Ilford,
Essex IG2 7PQ
His interview was supposed to be very
informal, therefore, like Nick Pattison’s
interview, we had to attempt to create an
informal atmosphere in a very formal
setting.
We achieved this by having most of his
interview filmed against a white
background and bright lighting.
At first we planned to film in the reception
of the school, however we found that
there were too many disruptions with
people going in and our of the doors,
therefore, we changed our location to Mr
Dutch’s office where the lighting was
bright and there was a white wall to film
against too.
Michael Douglas Interview
6. Location 5:
Westfield Shopping Centre
Olympic Park,
Montfichet Rd,
London E20 1EJ
We chose to film here as there were many
opportunities to get cut away’s of couples
and people spending time together or on
their phones.
We also found that some of the voice over
recordings and interview content related
to the setting of a shopping centre.
Therefore, we thought it would be best to
get some cut away’s here where the
setting is available to us.
Also, we found that filming both in the
summer and winter we were able to get
shots of people outside in the sun, this
created a fun atmosphere which was a
positive addition to the shots in our
documentary.
Cut-away Filming
7. Location 6:
Westfield S.C – Apple store
The Arcade,Westfield
City, Carphone
Warehouse,Westfield
Stratford City, London,
Stratford, Greater London
E20 1EQ
Similar to the filming we
carried out, outside of the
shopping centre, we found that
in the voice over and
interviews, there were a
number of times where
technology was mentioned,
hence, to fill the gaps within
out documentary, and gain
more creative shots, we filmed
inside and around the Apple
store.
Cut-away Filming
8. Location 7:
Central London – Leicester Square
and Piccadilly circus
London
Central London is a highly
populated and diverse place, So
we chose to film in the most
popular places, as we knew we
would be able to get shots of
couples from different
backgrounds and cultures.
Also, it was more common to find
working adults, that our target
audience could look at and be
able to relate to while watching
our documentary because our
target audience is 15-55.
Cut-away Filming
9. Location 9:
Valentines Park
Ilford, Greater
London IG1 4TG
We filmed in the park in the summer as we
knew that is a common place for people to
go on a hot summer day. It is a
comfortable and informal environment in
which many families and therefore,
couples would be out together.
This location allowed us to be flexible and
comfortably ask individuals if they minded
us filming them. Many people were okay
with the idea, however others, being in
the ‘comfort zone’ were not happy with
the idea
Nonetheless, we were able to get some
good shots.
Cut-away Filming
10. Location 10:
Blenheim Avenue
We chose to film here because it was most
convenient for the interviewee
It also reflected a homely atmosphere, which
was good as it linked with the answers she gave
in her interview.
Her home represented marriage and conveyed
happiness to a greater extent as we can see that
the relationship had developed from a small
interaction online to marriage and the building
of a life together.
Mona Siddiqui Shahid Interview
11. Location 11:
London Underground
Oxford St, London
W1B 3AG
Filming underground was
an idea that was improvised
as we were on our way to
central London.
We found the shots taken
underground to be a good
representation of the busy
lifestyles of individuals.
Cut-away Filming
12. Location 12:
Namrah Siddique’s House
Their interview was again, meant to be an informal one, so
we applied the idea of a white background and bright
lighting in order to create a positive atmosphere.
The free-flowing answers also helped indicate this.
Although this location was inside a home, we did not make
use of it because the lighting of the room in which we’d
hoped to do the interview was not bright enough, despite
the use of the external light. Consequently, we had to make
the best use of the space we had with good lighting in order
to get clear, good quality shots.
Uzma and Numaan Khan Interview
