It provides brief descriptions of how each tag is used to format text and other elements on webpages.
To create links in HTML, the <a> anchor element is used with the href attribute specifying the link target. Links can point to other websites, files on the same server, or locations within the same page using IDs. Internal links are made using # followed by the element ID. The title attribute can also be included to provide additional information about the link. Images can also be turned into links by placing them inside the <a> element.
This document provides an introduction and overview of topics to be covered in an online course on web design, including learning HTML, CSS, creating site maps and storyboards, developing websites, displaying images, and tips on common tags, colors, and style sheets. Frames allow dividing a browser window into multiple sections or frames. Each frame can load and display a separate HTML page. Frames are useful for keeping navigation menus static across pages but have drawbacks like broken back buttons. Forms allow users to input and submit data to a server. Common form elements include text fields, radio buttons, checkboxes. Forms are submitted via GET or POST methods to a specified URL for processing.
Living in the Cloud: Hosting Data & Apps Using the Google InfrastructurePamela Fox
In the modern web, the user rules. Nearly every successful web app has to worry about scaling to an exponentially growing user base and giving those users multiple ways of interacting with their data. Pamela Fox, Maps API Support Engineer & Developer advocate, provides an overview of two technologies - Google App Engine and the Google Data APIs - that aim to make web development and data portability easier.
Living in the Cloud: Hosting Data & Apps Using the Google Infrastructureguest517f2f
The document discusses Google's cloud computing infrastructure and services, including App Engine and Google data APIs. App Engine allows developers to run web applications on Google's servers and infrastructure, providing automatic scaling. Google data APIs provide a standardized way to access and share data through RESTful protocols like AtomPub, allowing developers to build applications that integrate with Google and other services. Examples are given of using the Google data protocol for CRUD operations and querying through demonstrations of sample applications built with App Engine and the APIs.
The document discusses the architecture and features of Struts 2 framework. Some key points:
1) Struts 2 architecture simplified the original Struts 1 architecture by removing unnecessary classes and using plain Java objects instead of forms and forwards.
2) It introduced interceptors to handle tasks like validation and security in a centralized way.
3) An example demonstrates how the same form can be defined more simply in Struts 2 using tags instead of custom JSP elements.
4) Additional features discussed include built-in testing support, debugging tools, ability to run existing Struts 1 actions, and tutorials/training resources.
The document provides an overview of HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) by explaining key concepts like how the internet works, common protocols, HTML elements and tags, formatting text, inserting images and links, and creating lists. It covers topics such as the structure of an HTML document, HTML tags for headings, paragraphs, and other elements, and how to format and style text using tags.
The document discusses transforming XML data into HTML using XSLT. It provides steps to create an XML file with sample link data, add an XSL stylesheet to select and display the XML elements as HTML, and create an ASP.NET page with an XML control to render the transformed XML using the XSLT stylesheet. Styles are also added to format the displayed HTML.
The document provides an overview of XML including:
- The basic syntax and structure of XML documents
- Key differences between XML and HTML
- Common XML data types like elements and attributes
- How whitespace is handled in XML
- What makes an XML document valid versus well-formed
- How XML Schema can be used to validate XML documents
- How namespaces help avoid conflicts between element names

An HTML5 overview I gave at Refresh FLL which showed the new features & touched on how to use progressive enhancement and polyfills to leverage HTML5 today.
XHTML is a stricter version of HTML that helps pages look identical across browsers. A basic XHTML document includes the DOCTYPE at the top, elements written in lowercase and nested properly with opening and closing tags. White space and formatting does not affect rendering, so code can be organized for readability.
The document discusses quick wins and improvements that can be implemented in HTML5 today, including simplifying the document type and template, adding new semantic elements, updating forms, using custom data attributes, and including polyfills for cross-browser compatibility. Some specific examples mentioned are a shorter doctype, new input types like email and date, using data attributes instead of classes, and including polyfills to enable HTML5 features in older browsers.
CMIS (Content Management Interoperability Services) is a standard that allows content management systems to communicate with each other. It is based on the ATOM format and uses RESTful services. CMIS defines object types, capabilities, services, and an XML schema for repositories, workspaces, collections, and individual objects. Key services include getting repository information, navigating folders and objects, querying, checking out/in documents, and creating/updating/deleting content and relationships.
The document discusses GRDDL ( Gleaning Resource Descriptions from Dialects of Languages), which is an easy way to extract metadata from web pages in various formats like HTML and XML. It allows one to declare a web page or document as a source of data, link it to extractors that can glean semantic data from it, and then have GRDDL agents extract RDF descriptions from the document. This is done by adding GRDDL profiling and transformation links to declare the source and transformation that will be applied.
This document provides an overview of common HTML tags for building web pages, organized into sections on foundation tags, commonly used tags, list tags, table tags, and more. It lists tags such as <p>, <a>, <div>, <span>, <h1-h6>, <img>, <ol>, <ul>, and <table> tags and their purposes. The document also provides tips on proper use of tables and attributes like cellpadding, cellspacing, width, colspan, and rowspan.
