HTML was invented in 1990 by Tim Berners-Lee as a standard markup language used to develop websites and display documents in web browsers. It has evolved over time from HTML 2.0 established by the W3C to support basic tags, to versions 3.2 and 4.0 which provided greater control over content and integrated CSS and DHTML for styling and interactivity. CSS and DHTML are technologies that are combined with HTML to control presentation of content and create dynamic websites.
